About the property

Apartment Il Mare, well equipped, 2 bedroomed apartment

Less than 100m from the long sandy beach at Bosa Marina, this grand, newly restored old house is divided into 4 spacious apartments. All slightly different, they all benefit from the large roof top terrace with view over to the beach. Being just a stones throw away from the beach, bars and restaurants it is ideal for a relaxing holiday. Located on the ground floor to the left, the entrance door leads into a smart kitchen/diner/ lounge. The kitchen area is equipped with gas hob, electric oven and fridge/freezer. There are 2, 2 seater settees and a table and chairs in here. A hallway leads to the, larger than average, bathroom with shower and further along there is a bedroom with a king size bed with mosquito netting over, not only pretty but practical, and ample storage space and a twin bedded room also with ample storage space. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans. The apartment has the benefit of a washing machine in the bathroom. There is also an iron and ironing board plus clothes airer, hair-dryer, radio/CD and mini safe.

Free unlimited WiFi available throughout the building.

We agreed for our customers, to have the use of the swimming pool and facilities at a nearby hotel for a special fixed daily rate.

About Owner

We are an English couple who opted out of the fast lane back in 2003 and have lived in Bosa Sardinia ever since and have integrated well wil the locals. We are not obtrusive with our guests but we are on hand if we should be needed.

Owner purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Owner chose Oristano

This is by far the most beautiful property in Bosa Marina. When we saw it it was very unloved and we could not resist. We have tried to restore it without losing the feel of the property and our guests seem to love it.

What makes this apartment unique

We are situated on a quiet Street while being just 100m from the award winning beach and close to lots of shops, restaurants and bars.

Guestbook comments from the manager

A fantastic apartment in a wonderful location. We loved sitting on the rooftop terrace, watching the sun go down across the bay. It was very quiet as the terrace and the garden area on the ground floor (with BBQ) are shared between only four apartments. David and Gillian are very helpful and friendly. They can also provide wine from their own vineyard. The apartment has a shop opposite which is very handy for fresh bread, cheese, groceries, etc. It is only a short 5 min walk to a lovely gelateria and then the beach. The beach has lovely, clear waters and it is worth bringing a snorkelling set to look at the fish. There is also a really friendly windsurfing school. Nearby Bosa old town is beautiful and historic.

Quiet and unspoilt seaside getaway

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in Il Tramonto. We expected a spacious, well equipped apartment and that was exactly what we got, plus a welcoming chilled bottle of wine. It was nicely presented and it was obvious that the owners had given careful thought to providing modern facilities, with an eye on tradition. We were disappointed that the TV had no aerial, but there were sufficient DVDs available to keep us amused after dark. There was just enough preparation space and plenty of crockery etc.The bathroom was well laid out with a wonderful shower, and the bed extremely comfortable. Recycling is compulsory and a bit of a pain, but instructions as to what to do are very clear. Our favourite space was the sun terrace, where we ate most of our meals when we were ‘at home’. Having sunshine from dawn to dusk was a great bonus, as well as the dual view towards the beach. We had fun watching the narrow guage train being uncoupled and switched around. There’s a mini market opposite which is expensive, but very handy. We did some hiking, but wished we had bought a walking guide in GB, as the trails are hard to find. The apartment is very close to the beautifully clean, safe sandy beach. The sand can get too hot to walk on and umbrellas are a must. There are several bars accessible from the beach, which sell ice-creams, beer and coffee. We walked into Bosa town regularly; it takes 30-40 minutes along the riverside. The castle is currently undergoing renovation and much of it isn’t accessible – still worth a visit though. We walked out to San Pietro church – a bit of a trek, but again, worth the effort. We didn’t meet any British people staying in the area and found that the locals didn’t speak much English. A phrasebook is an absolute must. However, they’re very friendly and seemed to appreciate us having a go with our pigeon Italian. If all else failed, we pointed and smiled and that often did the trick. We had a hire car for the duration and although we didn’t use it every day, it was invaluable. We had a day trip over to the Goruppu Gorge walk near Dorgali and visited Alghero and Sassari. Going out to the Grotto Neptuno by boat from Alghero was lovely. Bosa didn’t offer much in the way of entertainment, but it was unspoilt and provided the perfect location for a relaxing fortnight. Should we return to Sardinia, we would definitely go back to Bosa and the Pink Palazzo. The owners live in the area and are very friendly and helpful.

Owner's Response: It is lovely when we get positive feedback from customers. Not only did they enjoy the apartment but the surrounding area as well. As these clients say, we tried to get all the modern conveniences in, yet keeping the basics of this lovely old palazzo in tact. With reference to the TV aerial, we decided not to put one on the roof top terrace and spoil the beautiful building. It would also only give Italian TV which is basically rubbish and obviously you would have to be fluent Italian speakers to start to appreciate it!

Beautiful apartment near the beach with a roof terrace for stargazing

  • 5 of 5

Our apartment was La Sabbia, one of four in the beautiful Pink Palace in Bosa Marina. We took the bus from Alghero, but you can go direct from Fertilia airport (an hour or so, amazing scenery). The white sand/crystal waters beach is 2 minutes away - we were there late August and it wasn't too busy. The apartment itself has everything you need, including mozzie nets (which you WILL need), but the best thing about it was the amazing two-story roof terrace, where you could eat and sunbathe and watch shooting stars. The place has a nice friendly atmosphere, with plenty of beach equipment left for your use, and when our gas ran out we contacted the owner and it was replaced within five minutes.

There's a lovely palm-fringed walk along the river to medieaval Bosa town, but if you're too hot/tired, the buses go there and back regularly (€1.20 each). We intended to eat in one of the restaurants there, but the food in the Marina was so good we never got round to it. For a proper family pizzeria try the one on the railway line (Al Gabbiano). We avoided it for a bit because of the bright lights, but when we did go, and were surrounded by Sardinian families watching the football on the telly, it was great. The one meal we did eat in Bosa town was from a mobile van by the river. Sardines. Gorgeous.

If you're there for longer than a week you may need to hire a car, as the local buses are a bit erratic. The dive centre is great (if you get the nice guy, the other one's grumpy - as is the local shopkeeper) and we kayaked up the river to Bosa and back. Otherwise it's just beach and pizza and chilling out. A smattering of Italian will serve you well as this place is definitely an Italian holiday spot.

A perfect stay at the Pink Palace

  • 5 of 5

We had a absolutely fantastic week at the Pink Palace. With two small children the apartment was spacious, nicely decorated and well equipped. Gillian and David even provided us with a high chair and cot, thank you! The beach is just a short walk from the apartment, and there is plenty of places for lunch or dinner around the beach area. To reach the very beautiful center of Bosa, we used our rental car. We would definitely come back, and we would like to give Gillian and David our best recommendation, they are great hosts

Great apartment in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Bosa Marina. The apartment was very comfortable, well furnished and equipped, we lacked for nothing. The lemons picked from the owners trees, left for all guests in the hall, were especially welcome for our gin and tonics on the rooftop terrace watching the sun go down! Wonderful.

Just one reason we booked here was because the idea of using a pool as and when but not paying the price to have a private one, appealed - as it turned out the beach is so large and the sea so clean that we didn't entertain the pool at all - and it's so close.

Would recommend. Thank you.

A great base for Bosa

  • 5 of 5

A great base for exploring that part of Sardinia. We stayed in Il Tramonto on the first floor and it was a lovely comfortable apartment with everything you need. We had a problem with the hot water but it was sorted out straight away. The roof top terrace was great for breakfast. Bosa itself is a lovely old town and although we're not beach people, we did go to the beach a couple of times, lovely sand and quiet at this time of year. Ate out well, Nuova Costa just over the first bridge, and Chielo on the beachfront were both very good. Alghero and Tharros/Oristano around an hour away, and it's worth visiting some of the villages around as recommended in the useful info folder in the apartment. We particularly liked the murals in Tinnura and the church in Tresnraghes - not things you would find in your guide book! You really need a car to make the most of it and Bosa MRina is probably more easily accessible than staying in the old town in Bosa and having to negotiate narrow streets!

Bosa Marina
Car: not necessary

A lively sea side resort in season with numerous bars, cafes and restaurants, it has a large, wide expanse of soft, fine sandy beach partially sheltered by the harbour walls, very safe for families, next to the imposing tower of Isola Rossa. There are plenty of activities to keep you entertained, not just from the beach such as windsurfing and kite surfing, but boat hire, scuba diving excursions, boat and fishing trips. The small train station is here where you can take the Little Green Train inland to Macomer, winding through the beautiful countryside where vineyards and olive groves can be seen.

Bosa Marina has grown in recent years to take advantage of its gently shelving, wonderful beach but even out of season it is a beautiful, quieter place with a few good pizzerias and bars open all year round. The old town of Bosa itself is a pleasant 25 min walk away. You can hire all water sports equipment here and learn how to surf, windsurf etc. You can hire sunbeds and umbrellas here.

Other Activities: Bird watching, kite surfing
