MADEIRA = MIND = BODY = BEAUTY
My wife and I enjoy Madeira island, we love the peace and tranquility.
We are a profesional middle aged couple, with a daughter studying languges in the UK.
We thoroughly enjoy walking, swiming and everything that comes with family life.
We love to get away from all the daily stress and relax by the sea.
We are natives from the island and this property is our slice of heaven.
We would love to share our home with you and the beautiful island of Madeira
We always like to go away and stay on private rentals, we feel that is the only away we can enjoy the locals and the real way of life, and is this experience we offer in our property
Also we like the freedom and be away from everything
Mr Joao Correia purchased this apartment in 2006
We have this apartment because we are Madeirains living abroad, and this apartment to us represents what madeira is all about. In one of the best residencial areas, with banana plantations and lot of tropical gardens around. And with the all the services walking distance. Also very quiet with everything at our door step./
This apartment offers a Home from Home feel, very quiet nest, but with all around your feet. A real Madeira experience, living with the locals, also the apartament is very spacious, and with lots of sunlight, and views to die for.
We love countryside walks and explore the levadas and valleys of madeira and this location we can be in the middle of the island in a short time.
We know that if you have to share a bit of paradise, madeira is the place to have and share.
Very easy to explore the city and to go around the island by bus or your own car .
We love to have everything nearby but at the same time, have our own piece of heaven, peace and quiet . We can get out of the apartment and strait away emerge ourselves with the locals without been pressurise in all the usual holiday money grab .
Here is where our heart beats.
Lots of light, beautifull furniture.
Near the town center but away from the noise .
The views from one of the bedrooms and also from the living room is to die for, also the facing south varanda where you can enjoy your meals, or read a book in peace.
Local Manager available at your service always.
But in the midle of beautiful colinial Houses.
Come a see how the real Madeirains live, be part of the local traditions and culture
Home from home
Dear Mr Correia,
we had a wonderful stay on your beautiful island of Madeira and in your holiday apartment. Many thanks and kind regards
Ines + Manfred Richter
I would recommend this property. Madeira is very hilly so we often walked into town (down hill) and got the bus back (up hill!). Get a Giro pass for the yellow buses and save a fortune. Would definitely come back to Madeira and to this property.
Very nice apartment with balcony on the top floor.
The apartment feels like a home, and cutlery etc. seems coherent.
When we booked via Homeaway, we couldn't see the things written in small. Only "but" in this case and not part of the price, has been, that we were told after the booking, that we should pay in addition 20€ on arrival for "greeting service" - a local representative would meet us with the key, and quickly show us the apartment.
The apartment is situated a bit up hill. Walking to town is therefore not done in five minutes, but if you have a car, it is very conveniently placed with quick access roads and a nice view over the town. We loved it.
The owner has been very nice all the way.
Nice clean and quiet place. We missed nothing.
Hope to come back again.
A spacious, well-kept apartment with a truly beautiful view. It had everything that we needed and more that added to the holiday feel. Really comfortable and functional with two lovely bathrooms, a great dining room/lounge area and the balcony which was our perfect breakfast destination with a sea view. What more could you want?
We got a wonderful flat with everything you need .It was clean, calm ,easy parking ,
great view from the balcony to funchal and the habour. For cooking we missed a coated pan, a bigger cooking pot and a salad bowl. We can recommand this flat to
nearly everyone ,except people with disabilities (because to much stairs to the flat).
We liked walking to the levadas here we found a lot of books to create our hikingtours.
We stayed for a week at this property the last week of March. When we arrived
there was a problem with the gas not having been turned on properly but the
woman who cleans the apartment promptly attended to this. The apartment was
as advertised. However although it was sunny during the day the first few days
it was very cool in the evening and the apartment was very cold. We would have
appreciated having a portable heater just to take the chill out. As we tend to
like to cook we also suggest that the owners purchase new frying pans which although usable were very old and bent out of shape. It also would have been
nice to have had more than one towel each especially as we were there for a week. We loved the little terrace where we enjoyed breakfast on a few mornings.
The house is on top of the hill and I had never seen such steep (almost vertical
hills)! A warning for those with dodgy knees as I quickly found out. There are
buses which we did use occasionally however you have to time your outings
carefully then. The gardens are amazing, do visit them and it is great walking
country. We found the people friendly and helpful. We never did find a supermarket or small shop near the house though and never saw
the van that was supposed to come round with bread in the morning.
We tended to use the supermarket in the main town.If you like beautiful views
and don't mind being away from main town where most of the main transport start from than this apartment is recommended.
This apartment is located in a quiet cul-de-sac in a very safe residential area named Pena/Santa Luzia.
Beautiful views over Funchal's Habour.
Just around the corner are the Palmeira Botanical Gardens!
Near the apartment, is the local bus (number 26) which runs from early morning to midnight. Weekly bus passes cost about 23 euros per person.
If you hire a car, there is plenty private parking. The nearest supermarket is about a 5 minute drive.
SOME HOLIDAY MUST-DOS
Madeira offers 52 villages, enough to visit one everyday of the year!
However, Funchal city centre has a local farmers market where you can get your local fresh produce at very good price too!
The centre is a brisk walk and there you can even catch a cable car to Monte Village. Here you can enjoy a typical Tabogan ride back to town centre.
Funchal offers lot of great restaurant, 7 days a week.
In the town centre there is a church, an old sector with lovely narrow streets and a wide variety of cuisines.
For a day trip, taking the local bus from Funchal to 'The Valley of the Nuns' , you can admire the beautiful scenery and try the local chestnut liqueur. Great for walkers. Walk along the Madeiran water ways commonly known as 'levadas'.
For sunbathers, there are two new golden sandy beaches and lots of lido swimming facilities.
Whale and Dolphin watching are also available from the harbour in town and you can even spot a turtle if you're lucky ! Porto Santo ( a nearby island) can be reached by ferry for a more tranquil day.
