About Bill

We are a Minnesota family that enjoys the outdoors. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, while my wife grew up just outside of Toronto. We met in Dallas in 1988. We have two children and Webster. Both of our children are at school in Omaha, NE, but they still ski with us regularly.

Bill purchased this condo in 2005

Why Bill chose Big Sky

Skiing has been a part of our family's life for many years. We skied a variety of destination in the Rockies. In 2004 we took our first ski trip to Big Sky; six months later bought Stillwater 1028. We have grown as a family, developed and found new friendships with every trip to Stillwater 1028.

Stillwater 1028 has blessed us with the people we have met through our rentals. We have developed friends that live as close as 1/2 hour of our home in MN, and as far away as Germany. The relationships made are one of the many perks of owning this place.

What makes this condo unique

When we were looking for a condo, I asked that we find a place where we will have views that will constantly remind us that we are in the most beautiful place in North America. When you travel long distances to go skiing, seeing the mountains every waking hour is extremely important; Andesite and Wilson Peaks are impossible to avoid while staying in this condo. This is truly our Heaven on Earth.

We loved the place and had a great stay !! Thanks for sharing your piece of heaven with us.

The place was just what we needed for our visit to Big Sky. Clean, comfortable, and plenty of room for us. Close to everything we needed but nice and quiet too.

comfortable with easy access to the base area

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have stayed in this unit a number of times. It is comfortable and the location is great. Just a short walk to the base area and ski lifts. We like to be able to prepare all of our meals here and the kitchen is sufficiently supplied to do this. The only thing we had trouble with was the faucet in the downstairs shower: it is unusual and sometimes tricky to get the water flow to stop completely. Other than that, we had a great time on our vacation and this condo allowed us to relax in the evenings and enjoy music, movies and game time together. Thanks, Bill!

Nice owner, located across from Shoshone/Huntley, easy walk to lifts

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time renting this unit. This time it was just the two of us, so we did not use the upstairs loft and bathroom accessed by a spiral staircase. This unit is on the second floor up a set of stairs. There is a ski locker right outside the unit. The galley kitchen has a full complement of flatware and cookware, stove, full refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, etc. The living space and bedroom are small but nice. The view is quite nice as well. There is a pass for parking. The unit is right across from the parking for the Shoshone/Huntley and is an easy 5 minute walk to the lifts. The owner has been a pleasure to work with and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Cozy, home-y condo - close to the mountain base & lifts

  • 5 of 5

We chose this condo because it was a good layout (2 BRs with 2 baths) and great location for two ski buds to spend the week close to the slopes. It's very home-y - not like a timeshare - with a working fireplace and access to plenty of firewood. The beds were comfortable, and the electric heaters in the walls and baseboards - in addition to the fireplace - kept us plenty warm. The bathrooms were reasonably spacious. The kitchen had the basics needed to cook or heat up meals, plus a drip coffee maker. The nearby ski locker was handy, and we appreciated the coin laundry close downstairs as well as easy parking nearby. The wi-fi internet worked fine for us and the smallish TV accessed all the basic channels. Be forewarned there are a number of steps and stairwells to navigate getting to/from the property. Also, the exterior walls are a bit on the thin side, so you're likely to hear ski boots and other neighbors wheeling luggage around outside.

Having been an owner of vacation condo myself, my only critique is that it's reaching that time to make some needed updates and improvements. Perhaps it's time to retire the VHS/DVD combo and buy a Blu-ray player - although we certainly enjoyed watching some of the old tapes! The microwave is a little long in the tooth as well. But make no mistake, everything was in good working order, quite clean and comfortable (for two friends, at a minimum), and well-provisioned for enjoying a week of skiing at Big Sky. The owner, Bill, was responsive and accessible. The property management folks are super friendly and helpful, if you ever need them. All-in-all, we had a great stay and would recommend this to others.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

Great location. Easy walk to lifts. Condo had a well equipped kitchen and comfortable sleeping. Laundry is shared, so bring quarters to run the machines. Sleeps 6, but would recommend for up to 4 people. Living area would be crowded for more than 4 but very comfortable for our group of 4. Owner is very responsive to questions and gave great recs on restaurants, which are close by. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

All had wonderful time - we especially enjoyed the proximity to ski lift and the village.

  • 5 of 5

All was more than adequate for our needs. All of our meals were prepared for the most in advance and packed with us. Only recommendation: upgrade microwave and cooking/bakeware!
