The 'Blue Hawaiian' is our little bit of paradise, a beautifully remodeled two bedroom, two-bath unit located on Oahu's North Shore. This condo is by far the BEST deal on the North Shore because it is actually our own home that we are sharing. It is located in Kuilima West @149. Think of this as a vacation home that has all the elegance of the finest hotels in Hawaii at one fourth the price. This unit offers anything you can dream of ; honeymoon, romantic vacation, adventure with the family or a get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Because of this condo's newly remodeled interior, brand new furniture, appliances, kitchen that includes granite counters and bath rooms upgrades, it is considered a 'Deluxe Condo' by vacation rental standards. It is a luxurious place to rest while enjoying this garden paradise. This jewel like beauty sleeps six comfortably with a pack and play porta crib for infant or toddler, stroller and fold up high chair. There is no need to take along all that extra stuff for small children. It now has free long distance to the mainland, HDTV with DVR recording capability, 50 DVDs,and secure WiFi internet anywhere in the condo.
The surrounding area is home to the historic Haleiwa Town, the Polynesian Cultural Center and beaches where surfing became legendary. Snorkeling and scuba diving is located at Shark's Cove. During winter the waves become liquid mountains. The Vans Triple Crown of surfing is located 15 minutes away during the months of November and December.
The 'Blue Hawaiian' is located an hour's drive from Waikiki and downtown Honolulu and forty five minutes from the Honolulu Airport. The property is located only a short one quarter mile stroll from a public beach located next to the newly renovated Turtle Bay Hotel. Since the property is adjoined with the Turtle Bay Hotel, you can enjoy fine or casual dining, enjoy a drink at sunset at the beach front bar, book tourist trips or listen to the nightly live entertainment. You can play golf on either of the two 18 hole-championship courses located next to the property; surf the North Shore; take a horse back ride; walk on 5 miles of white deserted beaches through the famous Ironwood Forest, take a swim in the bay with the turtles or in any of the three pools that ring the condominiums; enjoy the trade winds and lay back and sun on either of the two beautiful beaches; play tennis; or walk to one of the best restaurants on Oahu - Lei's Lei's. This is the Hawaii you imagined: sunny tropical paradise guarded only by exotic flowers and populated with truly friendly people.
When you return home from your vacation you will remember these salty trade winds and panoramic splendors like a tantalizing perfume logged into your memory. This is where you conclude that Oahu is truly a beautiful island. The North Shore is not like the hurly-burly Waikiki with its intense freeway traffic and acres of concrete high rise buildings.

Bitsy Healey purchased this condo in 2003
We chose this area because upon retirement this is our part time home. It is impossible to find an area with more natural beauty. We have visited all the other islands and there is finest spot we have found.
This unit is our part time retirement home so we have spared no expense or hard work these last thirteen summers on our remodeling efforts. We extended the loft and pushed out both lanais, updated the electrical systems, plumbing, and cooling. We have replaced all the furniture and all the appliances. When you unlock the door and peek in you will say “WOW. What a deal I got”. After walking in, you will think I just won the lotto and landed in paradise. You truly have.
We stayed in this condo for 8 nights. My family of four traveled to the North Shore - myself, my husband and our kids ages 12 and 15. The condo itself is beautiful. It is well decorated and extremely well stocked. It had some comfortable beach chairs, an umbrella, a small cooler and snorkeling gear/beach toys. The beds are really comfortable and the linens are soft. There are many fans in the unit to keep it cooled (we never turned on the AC). There's a nice pool just steps from the door. We had family members who stayed at Turtle Bay Resort, so we had the opportunity to visit there. I felt this condo was much nicer than the Turtle Bay ocean villa, for a fraction of the price. We had a lot of adventures on the North Shore during our week here (surfing, zip lining, horseback riding) and this was a perfect central location. I would absolutely come back here again!
This is a great property and location, and Bitsy was very easy to work with. Our teenage kids enjoyed having the loft to themselves, the washer/dryer came in handy, and the beach and snorkeling equipment was quite useful. My only "complaint" was 1-2 burned-out lightbulbs that needed to be replaced, but everything else was ideal. I would definitely recommend it without hesitation.
Our family of 7 had a wonderful week staying at this great condo in a great location. The condo is very clean and has everything needed for an extended stay. We loved the beach towels, chairs, boogie board and cooler. It made going to the beach very convenient. The time we were there was pretty hot so even though we kept the doors and windows open to let the trade winds blow through it did get pretty warm for sleeping in the loft. The A/C in the master worked great and made sleeping there very comfortable but the other locations were a little warm. But overall the close proximity to the Turtle Bay resort made it fun to walk down and enjoy the beaches. It was also very close to some great beaches we enjoyed visiting. We loved having the shrimp trucks and Ted's Bakery close by as they provided some great places to eat. The PCC is very close and the Laie area had plenty of places to see and eat while we were there. I would highly recommend this condo for anyone that is planning a trip to Oahu.
My family of 7 (2 adults, 5 children) thoroughly enjoyed our week stay here. The condo was wonderfully situated, decorated and comfortable. The photos don't do the place justice. We particularly enjoyed the provided ice chests for packing lunches to the beach, beach toys, beach towels, snorkeling gear, boogie board, and umbrella. I worried about it getting too warm in the condo, but we didn't even need to use the A/C in the bedroom, just kept windows open. I think the loft area stayed a little warm, but my kids didn't complain. Owner provides lots of fans. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The North Shore is the place to stay! Be careful with valuables. We didn't have a problem, but others have had items stolen or cars broken into. Things we enjoyed in Oahu -- (bought a 4-day Go Oahu card online from Costco) -- snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, hiking Diamond Head, swimming and snorkeling in Shark's Reef, Polynesian Cultural Center (must see -- plan on spending all day from noon on and stay for the Luau and the night show with fire dancers), Laie LDS temple, Byodo temple, Pearl Harbor, Wet N Wild water park, Waiamea Valley -- hiked to waterfall and swam at base, Waiamea bay swimming and kids jumped from 'the rock', Matsumotos shave ice in Haleiwa, swimming at the condo, and enjoying giant sea turtles on Laniakea beach (do not touch or harass the turtles). I couldn't ask for a better, more relaxing vacation -- so amazing!!! When we come again -- I will try to plan around their availability because it was such a nice place to come home to at the end of a fun day at the beach. Don't forget water shoes! Place we missed but wished we had planned to do -- take some tours at Kualoa Ranch. I understand that's a great place to visit also. Enjoy! You won't regret this booking or this trip!
Our blended family of 7 had an amazing stay on Oahu's North Shore in the "Blue Hawaiian" unit #149W.
The condo is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The Kitchen is the best stocked kitchen of any vacation rental we've ever booked. We had to use the broiler to cook our meat most evenings as neither of us are great with a charcoal BBQ and couldn't keep it lit well enough to actually cook. But that was more than fine.
There are 2 boogie boards, several chairs, sand toys and lots of beach towels for days exploring Oahu's beaches. Our favourite was Waimea Bay which is about 12 minutes by car. The beach at Turtle Bay was great too, especially for snorkeling and is about a 7-10 minute walk. I'm sure without kids you could make it in 5-7 minutes.
Our favourite day trips were into Haleiwa for shave ice and food trucks. We also ate at Pizza Bobs on our last evening and found it to be excellent value and great service. We loved Waimea Bay and could have spent every day there body surfing if the conditions allowed. We went to the Aloha Stadium swap meet for our souvenir shopping and then an afternoon on Waikiki beach as well as a day at Ko Olina. We much preferred the beaches on the North Shore. The Polynesian Cultural Centre was great too. Bring a Hawaii Entertainment Book with you and get a free admission. Many car rental companies also provide a coupon. We saved about $150 on admission by going this way. We didn't do the luau and didn't feel we missed out as we saw so much else. Turtle Bay has a free Luau show on Sunday nights at 7pm which was fun. We ate at Ola that evening and then headed up to the Point at the pool for the sunset, a drink and the show.
With numerous pools on the property it was great for the kids for night swimming. Just be warned, the paths to the pools aren't lot very well and we had a couple of falls off the pathways. This has nothing to do with the unit though. We just brought our iphones after our first experience. :)
With the windows open the condo is well ventilated. The trade winds cool it down for the most part. It was quite warm on a couple of our evenings so we used the fans as well. We never needed the air conditioning.
The unit was clean and well kept and provided excellent value for the money spent. If you're looking to do Hawaii on a budget but still feel comfortable this is it. Hit Costco on the H2 Highway on your way up and you're good to go!
Thanks for a great trip
My family of four adults and a 15 month old baby stayed here Feb 5-12, 2015 and loved the experience. This condo is ideally situated with three lovely pools, each with two large grills and is just a short walk to the Turtle bay complex and all its amenities.
The condo has two separate bedrooms, two bathroom, a washer/ dryer, a dining table for 6 and a bar /island that seats three. The appliances are great and there is absolutely any pat/pan/utensil/appliance you could ask for. There are even games for adults and children. The pack and play and high chair sold us on this place but the little extra make it perfect. There is a closet in the loft full of snorkel sets, boogie boards, inflatable rafts, sand toys, beach chairs and mats.
It is clean and in beautiful shape. I can't wait to come back again next year.
