There are 2 private decks with panoramic views in the upstairs master suite, a pillow top king size bed, a 2 person jacuzzi bath and large stone shower with multiple jets. The 2nd master suite has a jacuzzi bathtub, wet bar kitchenette & pillow-top king bed. The 3rd suite has a stone shower, queen bed and private patio with sunset views. Perfect Family Vacation

This was the perfect spot for our family of five. The main living area, opened to the kitchen, was more than enough room for the entire family. The large dining table was more than enough space for our family and could have sat plenty more people. We made full use of the kitchen and the outdoor grill.

With the four-bedroom setup, we were able to have bedrooms for us (the parents) and for each kiddo to have their own room. The views are absolutely amazing. From the top master suite deck, you can see the sunset while looking at the mountains.

The short drive to the Plaza, restaurants and grocery stores was great. The benefit of staying here (as opposed to in town) is the peace and quiet for a family retreat.

Louie and Gordie met us on our arrival and showed us the entire property. They could not have been more helpful. In fact, our youngest child left his favorite blanket at the house--as soon as we discovered it was left, Louie went to the house, found the blanket, sent a picture to make sure it was what we were looking for, and sent it to us.

Maintenance Problems overshadow the views

I have real problems with the house and feel like I’ve taken my family to a second class facility for a Christmas getaway.

My main issue was the maintenance of the house. Here is my list of problems we encountered and a list of things that needs to take care of for future renters.

Washing machine never worked no matter what we did so we could not do laundry

Upstairs toilet, 3rd floor, toilet seat is broken and needs replaced

Bolts on kitchen table and chairs were all loose and we had to tighten them to make chairs and table stable

Brace on coffee table bracing was not attached so it was unstable and would possible break if anyone moved it or sat on it.

Internet would not work so we had to reboot and work on it to make internet work

Shower light in 3rd floor bathroom did not work

Mini bar on 2nd floor , lights don’t work

Many lights out, you brought us bulbs but should be taken care of before guests arrive

Light in front of pantry goes off and on

Had to nail back on wood panel in front of sink of 1st floor bathroom (it was laying on the floor when we arrived)

Freezer fan makes growling noises and alarm kept going off in freezer. Thankfully there was a button to cancel alarm in freezer

Vents are falling out of the ceiling in the living room

Toilet on 2nd floor bathroom is leaking around the base, needed to put a towel around base to keep from stepping in water

Toilet paper holder in 1st floor bathroom coming loose from cabinet, needs screw driver

Many areas just need paint… example… 1st floor bathroom looks like something was removed from the wall, holes were filled and then it was just left unfinished.

Stove never worked properly, vent hood was out because breaker turned off to keep sparker from clicking all the time. Expectations of cooking Christmas dinner – we should have been warned. There was a gas smell coming from burner that had a problem, we got that where it was not coming out.

Photos on Home Away website mis-represent property. Living room furniture was downgraded and while property may sleep 9, you sure can’t sit 9 people in the living room. Couch is a bed, not a couch. Furniture is completely different than what you show on the website.

There is no piano... Feel totally misrepresented and disappointed. Don't go here unless you are very handy with your hands. I would never recommend this property to a friend or relative. A Christmas to remember, and not in a good way.

My family of 9 decided to spend our last summer weekend at Santa Fe and rented "Casa Soulfood" as our peaceful home away. We arrived and the exterior of the home was exactly as depicted on a secluded road with beautiful views of the mountains. The interior of the home was nice tri level in nature with one bedroom with a full bed and an office with a twin bed and one small bathroom. The kitchen was lovely but the auto ignite on the gas stove did not work and the kitchen wasn't equipped well to cook for a large family. There were multiple burned out light bulbs downstairs and in a bedroom making it feel dark at night. The air conditioning worked in the lower level wee but as you moved to the upper bedrooms it may as well been non existent!! It was hot and stuffy and the window in the upper room did not open correctly. Summer in Santa Fe can be hot!! The management contacted us on the first day to arrange a walk thru with us stating it was a requirement. At 4:40 we we contacted on day two to let us know they would be there within the hour so our family stayed put to find they never showed up or called to explain why or apologize. Overall I would have to say definitely not the amazing place you are lead to believe I would suggest to investigate further. We read a previous review about the air conditioning and thought surly it was a fluke. It is not.

comfortable stay for a large group

Casa Soulfood worked very well for our stay. We rented both the house and the casita so there was plenty of room for our group. The kitchen is roomy and well equipped. One very large room at the center of the house comprises the living, dining and kitchen areas; plenty of room to hang out together. The bedrooms are separate and private. The bathrooms all have lovely slate tiles. The 1st floor bath is small and has a shower only; the other 3 baths are larger and have whirlpool tubs. There is a spacious patio as well as several decks to enjoy the views. We sat outside at night and enjoyed a fire while listening to the coyotes howl.

The heat was difficult to maintain on the first floor. The floor is concrete so it's cold. The 1st floor bedrooms were cold and the master was hot. A fire in the kiva helped heat the living room.

The house was clean, but the casita has an ant problem. The kitchen especially needs some maintenance. Some appliances didn't work properly, drawers are broken, etc.

There are 12 steps to get into the house; the driveway and surrounding area are unpaved and rocky. Not for people who have difficulty walking.

Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable accommodation for a large group.

Great location!

The views from this home are wonderful! The kitchen was a pleasure to use. Louie was very attentive and we had everything we could possibly want. The location was perfect for our group. We had easy access to the Plaza, farmers market, skiing we did it all.

We were very comfortable and enjoyed our time there.

Customer Service Was Amazing

Louie, Gordie and Patrick were always available and very helpful! The house worked out great for our annual girls weekend! The location was perfect with beautiful views and it was a short drive to downtown Santa Fe. We enjoyed the hot tub under the stars and watching the sunsets. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. The house was quiet if someone needed a nap, the bedrooms were far enough away from the main living area that it was quiet.
