We had a wonderful stay, and can't recommend Karen and Rob's beautiful places highly enough . The setting is magnificent , right on a little stream running thru the property . They are within walking distance to Font de Gaume , an amazing cave going back 14,000 years . And the best part is Karen and Rob themselves

- they are just delightful and very accommodating . Don't stay anywhere else in

Relaxing for the adults and fun for kids - perfect

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Le Banquet. It was everything we hoped for. Karen and Rob are incredibly friendly and helpful but they don't intrude at all. The gardens are spectacular. Natural planting, drifts of flowers, a river running through, deckchairs and seating dotted around the garden in sunny spots. There's also a climbing frame and swing, large play barn packed with stuff for kids of all ages (ping pong, table football, pool table, board games, drawing equipment, toys for younger kids, books and DVDs etc). And of course the pool.

Everything is done with real care and attention. For example, there are loads of loungers and umbrellas round the pool and a variety of inflatables, the DVDs are all good titles including lots of brand new releases, and we had everything we needed in our accommodation, even down to tin foil and cling film. In other words, stuff they don't need to provide but do. There was even a bottle of rose in the kitchen for us on arrival!

We had a very relaxing week, not the norm when you're holidaying with a 3 and a 7 year-old, and there's plenty to do round and about. We saw 15,000 year-old paintings, explored a ruined castle and ate out in the local village. Would have done more if we'd been staying longer and hadn't been lolling around Le Banquet so happily!

The two other families staying at the same time were friendly and fun to chat to around the pool, and the kids all hung out together. The cottages are positioned perfectly that you don't feel looked over and wouldn't need to be sociable if you didn't feel like it.

All in all, thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic summer stay at Le Tournesol

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a wonderfully relaxing stay at Le Tournesol. Rob and Karen were fabulous hosts and nothing was too much for them. Our two boys loved the games room, pool, and play area and had a great time making friends. The gite was very clean, well equipped, and characterful, with views of the stream from the bedrooms. Our only regret is that we didn't have two weeks insetad of one as there is so much to see and do in the local area. The picturesque town of Les Eyzies is close by where we enjoyed the market, Museum, and restaurants. In the surrounding area we enjoyed the caves, boat trips, hanging gardens, exploring villages, and an acqua/fun park. We would love to go back and enjoy more of the Dordogne from such a beautiful and convenient base as Le Banquet. I can't really fault it.

Le Tournesol

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Le Tournesol for a week earlier this month and I simply can't rate the gite and Le Banquet as a whole highly enough. It is truly superb. Rob and Karen are lovely people, friendly without being intrusive, the gite was really authentic and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay and the swimming pool and games room are fantastic. There are also lots of things to do in the area both for families and couples. This place is 5 Star!

Very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We've recently returned from a fantastic week at Le Banquet. We were there for the last week of June and first week of July and enjoyed every minute. We were made to feel extremely welcome by Karen & Rob. They were very helpful andfull of good advice. We had the lovely Le Tournesol that had everything we could possibly need and our 2 boys loved it!. Le Banquet in a great location, it's very relaxing and everything is within reasonable distance. The village of Les Eyzies is so charming and just a 2 min drive away with lovely restaurants and shops. Would happily stay at Le Banquet again!

Dramatic rock faces, sparkling rivers, green valleys, Chateaux, medieval villages, prehistoric caves and brilliant sunlight. The Dordogne, the very heart of the Perigord has been described by some as paradise.

As you pass fields of sunflowers and corn and marvel at castles towering at the top of cliffs or visit the many 'Beau Villages' in the surrounding area you begin to understand why. The area surrounding Le Banquet is dominated by pre-history, beautiful architecture and gastronomy. The perfectly preserved medieval town of Sarlat is just 20 minutes away.

The local markets are full to brimming with some of the best produce France has to offer.

Whether you wish to visit one of the many UNESCO world heritage sites, caves with their drawings dating back 20,000 years, picnic by the banks of the Vezere River, taste the excellent wines from Bergerac and surround or canoe, horse ride and perhaps fish, Le Banquet is at the very heart of it all.

If you are a food lover, then welcome to gastronomic heaven! Foie Gras, cepes, truffles and excellent restaurants - the region has it all.

Other local activities include: canoeing, airparks, quad bike hire, go carting the list is endless.......
