Something for Everyone
This cabin is perfect for large groups. It has 3 floors and easily sleeps 10 people. The mountains were beautiful and the park has much to offer travelers. We enjoyed the hot tub late at night (temps a little cooler), and every room has a tv. We went on a picnic almost every day as we were exploring more of the park. There is lot's of Georgia history here, wild life, multiple pools, and parks, something for everyone.
Wonderful! We are so happy when our guest enjoy our area as much as we do. Whispering Pines has a perfect floor plan for all ages and activities. We invite you to book with us again. (Hint: The Apple Festival is in October and the Apple Houses are going to have many amazing varieties. Fall and Winter are always fabulous for a family get-together. Spring is just right for school breaks with the family.) Come back soon!
Shabby, uncomfortable, and hard to get to
The cabin is moderate well equipped and sleeps many, but our stay was disappointing for a number of reasons. First, the supplied linens (towels, sheets, and blankets) were worn and skimpy in number. Each bed had one woven blanket with pulls and stains. The towels were pilled and only one per person was provided. Nothing looked particularly clean or new, and it was challenging to get dry while showering or stay warm while sleeping. Second, the beds were exceptionally uncomfortable. The mattresses were worn and sunken, and covered with plastic mattress that crinkled loudly as you rolled over in your sleep, making you wonder what the mattresses below were like. Finally, the cabin is located in the depths of a "gated community". Getting into the community -- by providing you name and license plate number to the property manager -- seems simple enough. But the gate was inefficient, and I spent minutes if not hours over the course of the weekend waiting to get through the gate. Then, after getting into the complex, it was a 15 - 20 minute drive through winding, narrow and often gravel roads to get to the cabin, with deer jumping into the road around every corner because the home owners feed them. Stressful and a huge hassle. It stormed badly while we were there, and large limbs blocked most of our paths to get back down to the gate. The management company will not release the address until payment is made, so there is no way to know the hassle you're in for (the management company suggested I map my routes to the places I had to be from the local walmart, which gave entirely inaccurate estimations). All in all, if you want to go and stay at a house with trees and lots of beds, none of which are particularly new or nice -- go for it. But if you plan to get out and go in Ellijay, or want to stay in a place that doesn't feel well-used and questionably clean -- find somewhere else.
This guest also rented another cabin of ours and posted a bad (False) review. Everything she is saying about this cabin is totally false. You can see by other guest reviews 4 & 5 stars they enjoyed their stay at Whispering Pines. The other adults that stayed in this cabin left it in good condition. The other cabin she rented from us was for 15 children and 2 adults. It was a softball team. She did not talk to these children about this is someones home that is well loved. The cabin was trashed. One of the pool table legs was totally broken off, along with the felt on the pool table scratched. Clearly a food fight as food was all over the walls in several rooms and gum on the carpet. The Hot Tub had dirt and food in it. I reported to VRBO that this guest cannot stay at any of our cabins in the future, and her security will not be returned due to the repairs and extra clean. I sent this guest pictures of the damage in this cabin with no reply from her. Because she lost her security deposit, she has written us a false review on both cabins and is totally unfair. The other cabin she stayed in is VRBO# 732396.
Clean, welcoming, great location!
Our family really enjoyed this cabin! It had lots to offer and was in a great location! Had all we needed and more! Very clean and welcoming! We will definitely stay here again!
Thank you for your review. We hope all our guest enjoy Whispering Pines as much as you have. Please book with us again when you are ready for a Georgia Mountain Retreat!
The cabin was very clean. The only frustration was turning the fire place on and changing the channels on the living room TV. The roads were scary narrow. Overall it was fantastic and I will recommend this cabin to anyone that wants to enjoy family and down time.
Thank you so much for letting us know how much you enjoyed the cabin. Yes, we do have mountain roads - - but look on the bright side: the "Mountain Road and Wildlife Experience" is free with every booking at Whispering Pines! :-)
We invite you and your family to book with us again the next time you want the thrills and peace of our Georgia Mountains.
We loved it! We love the area (Ellijay and the Coosawattee River Resort). We would really love to come stay during the summer so we could take advantage of the river activities and the recreation areas.
Just some needed info for future renters - The drive to the cabin includes turning onto three gravel roads, and one of them has a very steep descent and incline. It is not a one-way street, but it is only big enough for one car; so if you meet someone, one of you will have to back-up so the other can pass. There is no level driveway at the cabin - you park in front on a gravel incline, can be kind of hard to backup onto the road/street from a parked position. There is no backyard - it goes straight down to the river, but you cannot access the river from here. (There were some downed trees; so it appeared as if they were working on clearing the backyard, maybe?)
As I mentioned; these are just some of our observations. These are not deal-breakers - we would definitely return.
Thank you for your review. Yes, we have recently had a huge storm in our area. We look at it as Mother Nature helping to better the view. :-)
We invite you and your family to book with us again. There's nothing better to lower the heart rate than sitting on the deck and listening to the wonderful Coosawattee River below.
The cabin was beautiful!!! The wildlife was amazing!!!!!
The landscaping and work going on around the cabin is a mess!!!!! The resort needs to tell renters the cabin is located on a gravel road. My husband rode his motorcycle to the cabin, we had to have it towed out because the steep hills on the gravel road were too dangerous to attempt to ride out on.
Thank you for your review. The clean up from the storm has been cleared. We invite you to book with us again.
