Santa Helena can be found in the small rustic village of San Bartolomeu (just off the EN125) set in the Nature Reserve between Castro Marim & Praia Verde. Served by two airports, Faro (35 mins.) and Seville (90 mins.), it is a modern, 2000+ square foot, beautifully finished 4 bed house. It is tastefully decorated throughout. There is a private pool to the front which enjoys all-day sun. To the rear is a large sunny terrace overlooking the lush green hills. Sleeps 8. Ideally suited to a family or golfing holiday. Superb location being only a 5 minute drive to almost anywhere...beach, golf and a number of bustling towns. Santa Helena is also available for short midweek or weekend breaks. Convenient Location: Santa Helena enjoys prime location nestling in a village in the countryside yet less than 5 minutes drive to beach, shopping, restaurants, golf. Although the village itself is rustic and quiet with a church, two restaurants, a 'local' bar and a mini-market, the busy resorts of Altura (5 mins), Monte Gordo (5 mins), Manta Rota (7 mins), Cabanas (10 mins), and Tavira (15 mins) are only a short drive away. Vila Real da San Antonio, a large frontier town built on the banks of the Guadiana river is also close by (5 - 10 mins). You can be in Spain in just 8 minutes from the house! Only 1.5km from the beach in very up-market Praia Verde - this beautiful beach stretches for about 30km to the Ria Formosa lagoon. Numerous golf courses within easy reach : Monte Rei (Jack Nicklaus' 36-hole signature course), Castro Marim, Benamor, Quinta da Rio and Quinta da Cima are all within a 5-15 minute drive.
Luxurious interior: Briefly, the main features of the house are:- Linked-villa, built in 2006. Modern decor, high quality furniture and fittings throughout. 4 bedrooms, 2 double and 2 twin, all with built-in floor to ceiling cherry wood wardrobes and own balcony. 3 Bathrooms, all fully tiled - main, master en-suite and downstairs WC. Air Conditioned / heating throughout. Satellite TV. The very spacious lounge/dining is complete with stylish furniture and marble flooring with two sets of double doors opening onto rear terrace which has a stone table and benches for al-fresco dining. Also sun loungers and garden furniture. Fully equipped kitchen appointed to a very high standard. Utility room with washing machine, dryer, ironing board etc. Garage used to store pool furniture, sun loungers etc. Front garden completely fenced and railed with 7m x 4m pool - which also has rails and gate, and a shower area. Pool loungers and chairs.

We normally don't write reviews but on this occasion we felt compelled to share our experience. It was everything the website described and more! Beautiful home with all needs catered for. The aspect of private pool meant guaranteed sunshine all day. With three nearby beaches and pool we were spoiled for choice. Exceptional restaurants to suit all budgets within short driving distance. All of these recommended in the extremely helpful information pack left for us. From beginning to end it was a stress free vacation made possible by the owner being so professional, helpful and easy to deal with. Would highly recommend it!

The villa is gorgeous and all the furniture and appliances are of a high quality.
The surroundings are beautiful, the house is set on a small and quiet village, ideal for relaxing, and at the same time just a short drive from some bigger towns where you can shop or find some restaurants.
There are a lot of beaches nearby, as well, although we didn't go to the beach that much as we travelled with small children and preferred to enjoy the swimming pool.
In summary, we had a really pleasant stay and if we are going to the Algarve on the future we would definitely repeat on Santa Elena.
Had a fabulous short break over Easter at this stunning villa – spacious is an understatement! The furniture, fixtures and fittings are beautiful, plenty of space for families with both casual dining table in kitchen and formal dining the in the living/cum dining room. Lovely private pool with sunbathing area and then separate sun trap terrace to the rear with views over the surrounding orange groves. We were unfortunate with some freak wet weather but not to worry – beauty treatments for the girls 5 mins down the road in Altura and then amazing shopping in Monte Gordo, shoe and handbag heaven. Lovely part of the Algarve with great golf courses and gorgeous beaches just minutes away and spoilt for choice with plenty of local and upmarket restaurants and bars, many of which were recommended in the owners guide in the villa. All in all, a stunning villa that is clearly much loved by its owners and a lovely part of Portugal that is very welcoming. We’ll be back and hopefully the sun will feature more!

I myself and all other family elements recommend it to other families because it shows very good conditions ,and it is very well cared . Also at this village S.Bartolomeu any person can really relax,as no *crowds* , no *cars* only birds and stars.. .Anyone easily find the restaurant nearby , good food or buy at a mini-market,so close and so nice.
A detailed guide of what to do and where to go based on the owners experience and knowledge is in the house with all relevant detail and contact numbers for local services from a doctor to a taxi (for those nights you don't want to drive) to the beautician! Only 1.5km from Praia Verde - this resort gives access to a beautiful beach that stretches for about 30km to the Rio Formosa. It is a luxury development with restaurants/cafes. Also nearby is Praia Alagoa for water sports. The beaches in the Eastern Algarve are superb, sandy, safe and clean and stretch for miles. The busy resort of Altura with its beach and many lovely restaurants, bars, boutique shops, beauticians, hairdressers... is only 5 mins drive.
Monte Gordo has a promenade that comes alive with street entertainment, craftsmen and market traders in the summer months and is a lovely stroll all year round. There are some good bars and a casino! And great shopping.
Golf: Benamor, Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima, Castro Marim, Monte Rei and Quinta do Vale golf courses are all within a 15 minute drive from the house. And of course, being so near to the Spanish border, the house is very convenient for the multitude of golf courses in and around Huelva in western Andalucia.
