The house is situated in the beautiful peaceful Southern Vendeen countryside overlooking the River Vendee. The area is a mix of sunflower fields, rolling hills with pretty limestone villages tucked away in river valleys; very reminiscent of the Cotswolds apart from the weather - the South of the Vendée benefits from a micro climate, giving the region a level of summer sunshine bettered in France only by the Côte d’Azur
The Forest of Mervent – a vast nature lovers paradise of wooded valleys and lakes perfect for cycling & walking, sailing and canoeing with pony trekking also available
Vouvant, a medieval town, one of the most beautiful villages in France with its Medieval ramparts, cobbled lanes and pretty houses all contributing to the picture postcard setting.
The world renown 'Puy du Fou' theme park is less than an hours drive from the house and well worth a visit.
For fishermen, there is the Pescalis, largest fishing lakes at Moncoutant (20km) as well as a number of well stocked rivers and Lake Mervent.
Other nearby attractions include Marais Poitevin, La Rochelle and Fontenay le Comte
Information about all these attractions can be found in the house.
We had a wonderful stay at Le Tude. For the past 20 plus years we have stayed in many properties throughout France, Le Tude was definitely one of the best. It's a lovely farmhouse situated in a beautiful area. We visited the Puy du Fou (an amazing place for all the family and really is a must do), the Venice verte, Vouvant, Mervent Forest, Niort, La Rochelle, the Ile de Re and La Tranche sur Mer, however, our favourite thing was being back at the farmhouse enjoying the wonderful views and listening to the sounds of the cows, sheep, chickens, donkeys and church bells - superb!
We stayed at this fabulous old farmhouse in June 2016, we walked in and said wow, lots of space and beamed ceilings, it's got all the amenities you would need, lovely views from the terrace.
There's plenty of space outside to park numerous cars, just over the garden hedge is a cycle path.
We had a lovely 7 night stay and would stay again.
Very quiet and peaceful location. Clean, immaculate and everything you needed was on hand. Pool was clear, well maintained and a must for the children. Lovely little village with an AMAZING restaurant! Owner was immediately available on the phone - we had a slight problem at the beginning which was sorted immediately. Draw backs - fantastic, large mezzanine bedroom (but does have a reduced apex ceiling - not advisable for a taller person). Also, as situated in farmland there are more flies than we expected- take your fly spray with you!!! Would I recommend it?- YES!
We stayed at le Tude for two weeks with another family and had a brilliant time. It was a very relaxing holiday. We have been to France for the last 5 years and this was the nicest house we have stayed in. The pool was fantastic. The cycle path on the doorstep was great for running, well worth taking bikes if you can. The restaurant in the village was very nice and quite reasonable.
We would definitely recommend this to other families.
Thank you for a great holiday.
Just returned from a fantastic holiday at Le Tude with my family, 6 adults and 2 teenage children. We fell in love with the house and the surrounding area was simply perfect. Lots of lovely places to see within the surrounding area. One of the best holidays ever and look forward to returning.
The Vendée makes an ideal family holiday destination and Le Tude is in the perfect position to sample many of the attractions.
It is set in the vendeen countryside close to La Chataigneraie (15 mins), Vouvant (15 mins) Fontenay le Compte, yet the village is only 4kms from the Deux Sevres wine region.
Vouvant - a medieval town, recognised as one of the most beautiful villages in France with it's medieval ramparts, cobbled streets and pretty houses. The town is well known as a village of painters and there are arts and crafts shops as well as some lovely cafes and restaurants. The 11th Century Romanesque church 'Notre-Dame de Vouvant' has a carved stone portal.
Mervant Forest - ten minutes away, a paradise for nature lovers and lots of sporting activities. You can explore the many marked footpaths by foot, cycle or horseback. All the lakes are suitable for swimming and you can hire pedaloes, kayaks, canoes and sail boats and try your hand at archery.
