We have owned this beautiful property since 1992. I am a retired sales training consultant with a background in sales and training with most of my years spent in both the computer and high speed digital printing industries. Mary continues to work in the finance industry where she has considerable knowledge and experience. We have been married for 47 years and both grew up in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston where we attended Boston schools. We have two grown successful children We spend most of the off season on the island and take considerable care about our Edgartown home. Off island we live in Norton, Ma where we raised our children.
We had vacationed on the island as renters for many years and decided we wanted to own in the Edgartown section of town. When the house became available on Morning Glory Farm we fell in love with the home and the location which abuts the farm. We are surrounded by conservation land and are walking distance to both bike paths and the center of town.
Sitting outside taking in the farm views during good weather and just relaxing and cooking out on the deck. Also, walking to the farm stand and buying fresh produce from the farm. Other enjoyable moments for us include gardening, visiting with friends and dining out in some favorite restaurants. We also enjoy our jeep with island permits where we do a lot of 4wheel driving in Chappaquidick with friends.
I’ve just booked my 2015 vacation and thought I should give a review of my 2014 vacation.
My group of 8 had plenty of space to lounge about during our stay since the large open living space allowed everyone to be together but not on top of one another. I loved the large upstairs master bedroom with its own private deck, which was wonderful for morning coffee or an afternoon read. The other bedrooms are wonderful too, everyone was very comfortable.
This house is perfect for entertaining large groups, we had 16 people for dinner one night and we had plenty of room. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything a cook might need and we used the grill every day and when we ran out of propane there were 2 other full tanks there and the change out was easy.
The 5 minute drive to Katama/South Beach was very convenient since we went there every day with a quick trip to Edgartown for to go lunch from Humphries. Found our spot on the beach and relaxed for a few hours before heading back to the house, and the awesome outdoor shower, before going to Nancy’s for afternoon cocktails.
I like to be near the night life but not on top of it and that is another reason I like this house, we are close to both Edgartown and Oak Bluffs to take taxis for those nights we didn’t want to drive.
We have been renting this house for over 15 years with friends and family and the minute our week is over we are planning our next year's stay. The house is in a perfect location for us, its only minutes to Edgartown where we run to Humphrey's for the best sandwiches on the island and head to Katama for lunch on South Beach. Once back to the house its a nice relaxing outdoor shower and cocktails on the wrap-around deck overlooking the fields of Morning Glory Farm. As the years went by we found ourselves taking advantage of the open-spaced kitchen making appetizers and dinner, the floor plan is perfect for entertaining. With four bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths (plus that great outdoor shower) we have plenty of space for visitors and over the years we have had many. Wi-fi is available for our laptops, Kindles, iPads and Nooks and TV/DVD for catching up on old movies or late night news. Tom and Mary provide a three-ring binder filled with information about the island and offer recommendations on day trips and dining experiences which they update every year so we always take a look when we first arrive to see what's new. It is a great home to truly enjoy your Vineyard experience whether its your first trip or your fiftieth!!!!
