We live in Hawaii and love the snow in Utah. We have been taking our children skiing and snowboarding for the past 10 years.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2005
After several years of renting in Big Cottonwood we decided to buy our own cabin and make a great vacation rental property so other families can enjoy the canyon.
Please let us know how your stay was, we value your comments! Craig and Kari (owners)
Kari was very helpful with all steps prior to our stay. The process was smooth and her prompt response was appreciated. The house was perfect for our needs; it was very spacious and comfortable. It was only minutes away, down the road, from some ski resorts. There were also some more a drive away. Getting to these resorts was very manageable, and we loved all the ski options. During checkout, all the instructions were clear and straight forward. All around, this was a great rental option due to it's location, comfort and Kari being so accommodating.
This property was just before the Silver Fork Lodge, which has amazing breakfasts, and a few miles from Solitude and Brighton ski areas. We were there in late Spring for our son's wedding reception, which was held at Brighton. The house was spacious, the kitchen well equipped, and very comfortable. We weren't there long enough to use the fireplace, but plenty of firewood was available in the garage. Satellite TV was available, but the internet connection is weak, but we were forewarned, and used our phone's connection through Verizon. As a special treat, we had a moose in the yard the 2nd morning!
Wanted a location close to ski areas that our 4 grown children and brother and sister in law along with my husband and I could all sleep comfortably while enjoying each other's company. The cabin was perfect with comfortable beds, we were able to spread out and could have accommodated more. We spend our evenings in front of the fire playing games that were at the cabin and going out to look at the stars. We enjoyed the hot tub after skiing each evening. It was a quick trip up the road to Brighton. Would definitely recommend! And would love to come back!
We stayed here for 7 nights in February 2016 and it was a perfect place for a ski vacation. Close to the resorts and lots of space for 8 people (2 families). The manager and owner are incredibly responsive and accommodating, and the house was well-equipped and clean. It's about 20 minutes down to Salt Lake City and groceries, though you can buy very limited supplies at Solitude and Brighton. Very convenient to Solitude (5 mins) and Brighton (8 mins). You definitely need a 4WD to get in and out during the winter - the small roads to the house are plowed frequently but they get icy and slushy.
The bunk bed room is part of the 2nd floor loft and there are not enclosed walls, so sound from the main floor carries up there. The 2nd floor bedroom does have walls. WiFi is very slow but we were able to get internet via our mobile phones with no problem.
The canyon area (including Solitude) lost power due to a storm for a day and a half, and the owners and managers were very helpful and accommodating, even arranging for a delivery of firewood for us.
Loved our stay at Pine Tree Cabin!
Seven of us stayed here for a family ski vacation over the winter break. It was perfect in almost every respect -- beautiful, spacious, well-cared for and comfortably appointed, ideally located. Our only complaint was that the wifi was terribly slow and difficult to use, especially if you hope to stream movies, but this seems to be a bandwidth problem throughout the canyon, and the owners did their best to provide us with alternatives to help. Several of the beds have "memory foam" type mattresses or pads, which some of the family absolutely loved and some found not to their liking; that's just a question of personal preference. All loved the hot tub after a long day skiing, as well as the wood burning stove which made the place pleasantly toasty. We would certainly rent this place again if we were to go back to the Solitude/Brighton area.
