About Diane McEvilly

I own this one property in Santa Fe which has been my home for decades. I love my street and neighborhood and have happy memories of my children playing ball in the quiet streets. I have seen the fruit trees grow from little slips into mature giants producing cherries, apricots, peaches many years. I retired from teaching French in a local high school - then, since beginning to rent my casita, I have enjoyed meeting people from many countries. My guest book/scrap book is full of their photos, mementos and the stamps of their foreign countries. Tiling the bath, kitchen and floors myself was satisfying. My grand daughter says I'm married to my garden - I do work on it! Rates vary according to number of guests, length of stay, time of year and space occupied. Discounts apply for weekly/monthly visits.

Diane McEvilly purchased this house in 1971

Why Diane McEvilly chose Downtown

I moved here to be near the old center of this historic town and to be near the most excellent elementary school for my children. If you would enjoy walking on a tree-lined street, being surrounded by flowers, garden walls, fruit trees, lilacs, stone walks (no gravel!), you will also enjoy the peace and quiet of this centrally located retreat. It's modest and I have many repeat visitors (10 repeat bookings in 2015).

What makes this house unique

Casita du soleil is six-tenths of a mile from the Plaza - a flat walk on mostly quiet streets. Three tiny blocks to Sage Bakery, 5 tiny blocks to Whole Foods.

A few minutes to Railyard District of galleries, restaurants, SF Farmers' Market. Tranquility in the middle of everything.

Perfection in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

I loved staying here. The place was immaculate and I had everything I needed. I especially loved the outdoor patio. I would try to stay here for all future visits to Santa Fe.

Cute, private casita near town

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a 5 night January stay at this cute, historic casita located right by town. Comfortable. Private patio that worked well for dogs, and dog walking was opportunity to experience the quaintness of the nearby neighborhoods. Patio would be sweet in warmer temps. Enjoyed dinners at two nearby restaurants, Mucho Gusto, and Jinja (an Asian fusion restaurant).

Great quiet cozy home!

  • 5 of 5

The space is very clean and well kept. We had room for everything we needed and there was still room left over for the kids to play inside and outside. The owner is very friendly and helpful and so is her cat. It is in a quiet neighborhood but really close to the plaza and Rail Runner. We are already planning a summer stay!

What a wonderful, cozy casita!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed in the casita for the week between Christmas and New Years and what a perfect place it was! The casita was equipped with everything we needed and we were warm and cozy even with the chilly temperatures outside.

The location was also ideal in relation to the Plaza and stores, and Diane is a wonderful owner who made sure we were enjoying our stay.

We can't wait to visit again in 2018!

Great Little Casita in nice location

  • 5 of 5

The Casita was wonderful. Set back from the street with its own enclosed patio with table, chairs, umbrella, and swing. Inside, it had a very comfortable living/dining room, a full kitchen, and a nice bedroom (with a comfortable bed!). Everything worked. Lots of books about Santa Fe and nearby New Mexico. It is a short drive from downtown or a pleasant 15 minute walk. Easy to get everywhere but in a quiet neighborhood.

Diana was a great host. Lots of good tips about restaurants and happenings in Santa Fe. She was available when we had questions and was always helpful.

Santa Fe has terrific museums (Int'l Folk Art and Indian Arts and Culture on Museum Hill and in downtown, the New Mexico History Museum and the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum) and is a great jumping off point for visits to Taos, the Georgia 0'Keeffe Home and Studio, Native American pueblos, and Albuquerque.

Good food everywhere. Some favorites in Santa Fe: Santacae, Tomasita's, the Museum Hill Cafe (nice outside seating, great view) on Museum Hill, El Meson, and Radish and Rye. In Taos: Doc Martin's. In Espanñola: El Paragua.
