I own this one property in Santa Fe which has been my home for decades. I love my street and neighborhood and have happy memories of my children playing ball in the quiet streets. I have seen the fruit trees grow from little slips into mature giants producing cherries, apricots, peaches many years. I retired from teaching French in a local high school - then, since beginning to rent my casita, I have enjoyed meeting people from many countries. My guest book/scrap book is full of their photos, mementos and the stamps of their foreign countries. Tiling the bath, kitchen and floors myself was satisfying. My grand daughter says I'm married to my garden - I do work on it! Rates vary according to number of guests, length of stay, time of year and space occupied. Discounts apply for weekly/monthly visits.
Diane McEvilly purchased this house in 1971
I moved here to be near the old center of this historic town and to be near the most excellent elementary school for my children. If you would enjoy walking on a tree-lined street, being surrounded by flowers, garden walls, fruit trees, lilacs, stone walks (no gravel!), you will also enjoy the peace and quiet of this centrally located retreat. It's modest and I have many repeat visitors (10 repeat bookings in 2015).
Casita du soleil is six-tenths of a mile from the Plaza - a flat walk on mostly quiet streets. Three tiny blocks to Sage Bakery, 5 tiny blocks to Whole Foods.
A few minutes to Railyard District of galleries, restaurants, SF Farmers' Market. Tranquility in the middle of everything.
Casita - Excellent location and accommodations were comfy though a little cramped. The only thing we'd recommend is a little better ventilation - it was stuffy at times. Very retro and perfect for a couple looking for a quiet place to sleep after exploring Santa Fe and all it offers.
Apartment - again, quite comfy and accommodating, but we preferred the Casita (more private).
The owner lives on site and is very gracious and helpful providing directions and recommendations for sites to see and the best (possibly unknown) restaurants. We walked everywhere, so the location was perfect in it's proximity to down town. We'd definitely do this one again if/when we visit Santa Fe.
It was perfectly as described and had all of the necessary items for a comfortable place to stay. The proximity to Whole Foods, the town center, and the Farmers Market and Rail yard made this place an amazing place to stay! We walked everywhere and truly enjoyed it.
Location was great for walking into Santa Fe. Nice area to sit outside for morning coffee or afternoon reading.
Cute, cozy and immediately welcoming. Three of us stayed at the casita and were quite comfortable with plenty of space for musical instruments and ski gear. Diana got in touch with me within hours, was wonderfully hospitable and accommodating in our last-minute plans to stay in Santa Fe. Great location, too! We took advantage of a great ski weekend and the lovely post-Christmas sights of Santa Fe. The well-stocked kitchen of the casita made cooking several meals easy, plus being located close to Whole Foods was convenient. We took advantage of good downtown restaurants as well (India Palace and Upper Crust Pizza). I would definitely recommend this property.
I stayed both in the apartment and the casita. Both spaces were charming, well-kept, and well-outfitted. I was fortunate to be in town while the lilacs were blooming. Diana's garden is quite lovely. I often ate my lunch outside in the patio. The location is great for walking into town and exploring the South Capital area. Street parking is easy. I found the hostess to be helpful, considerate, and unobtrusive.
My wife and I recently stayed at this cozy casita and loved it. Walking distance to the town square and has everything you need: living room/dining nook, full kitchen, bedroom w/ closet and bath. Owner was very nice and helpful and allows pets. Would definitely recommend!
