About Diane McEvilly
I own this one property in Santa Fe which has been my home for decades. I love my street and neighborhood and have happy memories of my children playing ball in the quiet streets. I have seen the fruit trees grow from little slips into mature giants producing cherries, apricots, peaches many years. I retired from teaching French in a local high school - then, since beginning to rent my casita, I have enjoyed meeting people from many countries. My guest book/scrap book is full of their photos, mementos and the stamps of their foreign countries. Tiling the bath, kitchen and floors myself was satisfying. My grand daughter says I'm married to my garden - I do work on it! Rates vary according to number of guests, length of stay, time of year and space occupied. Discounts apply for weekly/monthly visits.

Why Diane McEvilly chose South Capitol
I moved here to be near the old center of this historic town and to be near the most excellent elementary school for my children. If you would enjoy walking on a tree-lined street, being surrounded by flowers, garden walls, fruit trees, lilacs, stone walks (no gravel!), you will also enjoy the peace and quiet of this centrally located retreat. It's modest and I have many repeat visitors (10 repeat bookings in 2015).
What makes this House unique
Casita du soleil is six-tenths of a mile from the Plaza - a flat walk on mostly quiet streets. Three tiny blocks to Sage Bakery, 5 tiny blocks to Whole Foods. A few minutes to Railyard District of galleries, restaurants, SF Farmers' Market. Tranquility in the middle of everything.

A great place to stay
Two of us stayed at the casita for a week and loved it - the casita, the neighborhood, the host and the resident cat. It's a secluded spot in a lovely, quiet neighborhood and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted in town, including to a nice local market (Kaune's) a few blocks away. Very easy access to the highway, too, for trips further afield and parking at the casita was easy. Diana had great suggestions for our visit and we had some very interesting talks with her, which added to our enjoyment of our Santa Fe experience.
Spent a lovely long weekend in Santa Fe. Diana was a great hostess--providing information and introducing us to her cat. The lilacs that are all around the patio area were just starting to bloom which made sitting in the swinging bench particularly nice since we had cool, but sunny weather. Great place to stay for the very reasonable price--clean and cozy.
I'm grateful for your kind words, Marianne ....... I'm glad you enjoyed your stay ....
And I owe you a special thanks for the gift in the refrigerator! I love surprises ......
Easy access to all the things you want to do. We walked everywhere from this casita. What a great place to stay!
Thanks for your positive review, Jenny. I'm thankful for my great location - and also for the quality of peace and quiet here. Diana
Excellent location, great value
The casita is walkable to pretty much everything in SF. The host was helpful in giving advice for tourist activities and dining. The private patio was perfect for enjoying a drink and snack (Whole Foods is very close to pick up groceries) after a long day of sightseeing.
It was a pleasure hosting you three ...... I certainly get vicarious enjoyment out of pointing visitors in the direction of some of our beautiful places ..... Hope to see you again!
Cute, peaceful, good location
We loved staying in the casita! It was perfect for my bf, dog and I. We loved being in a quiet neighborhood while still having the ability to walk to some of the sites in Santa Fe. You can walk to the rail yard, the plaza or canyon road. I highly recommend trying Clafoutis for some French pastries in a cute restaurant. We would definitely stay again! Diana was very friendly and knowledgeable of Santa Fe.
Thanks Breanne and Clint for your kind review!
It was a pleasure chatting with you and learning that you have done so many hikes and activities here! I look forward to seeing you again.
Sante Fe is beautiful
The casita is close to downtown. Lovely old furniture and a small TV. The apricot tree was in bloom and we could smell his lovely fragrance as we walked from the street. Canyon Road is a must feast for the senses, with amazing in and outdoor art.
