Charming, cozy studio with great central location
My husband and I stayed in Julio’s studio for our honeymoon, and we were really delighted with our experience. The studio has all the amenities that you could need: a well-equipped kitchenette, cleaning supplies, separate toilet and shower, a nice futon, a bench, a comfortable double bed, a hairdryer, a balcony, a friendly and responsive doorman, an elevator, a laundry room, a gym, and a cute communal rooftop patio. Its pretty decorative flair makes it a relaxing, serene place to rest at the end of a busy day, or to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading into town.
Julio is very responsive to messages and extremely helpful. He greets you when you arrive, but even when he’s not there, the doorman will help you. He leaves you a great guide of local restaurants and attractions, some of which are off the beaten path and are very cool to discover!
The only drawback is that the club nearby had a very loud party until the early morning on the Saturday that we were there. That’s the thing about staying in a hip, centrally located neighborhood - you’re really in the center of the action, for better or worse! You might want to bring earplugs and a portable speaker in order to create a calm sleeping environment if that happens again, or just plan to go out and join the party. Julio also gave us a fan, which provided calming ambient noise as well as helping to cool the apartment; I was very thankful for that additional touch of customer service, especially on that night.
Centrally-located artfully-decorated studio, off a busy pedestrian street
I enjoyed my stay here--it was very close to Bellas Artes, and hence a convenient walk to the central plaza (the Zocalo). I chose it because it was only about a 40-minute walk to the archives that I visited for my work and had a lot of natural sunlight. When I returned from a day at work, I felt like I was returning to an apartment rather than a generic hotel. This is an area in transition, so you are not on a street with opulent apartment buildings. (If you want a richer neighborhood, go elsewhere, such as to San Angel or Polanco, but you will be a 1/2 hour to 1 hour taxi or bus ride to the Historic District.) With 24-hour doormen, I felt protected as a female traveling alone. Julio was a wonderful host, responding within hours to my questions or concerns, and giving me some tips on safety. The one downside for me was that the walls are thin and the street noise can make it hard to sleep at times--after a few days, though, I adapted, and coped with the help of noise-cancelling earphones. Good memories of the apartment and I'd return here in an instant!
Sauber, ruhig, super für 1 bis 2 Personen, sehr freundlicher Vermieter.
