About the property

Breathtaking & unmatchable views. Awesome getaway yet super close to town.

This gorgeous cedar home was built in 2006 in a location that offers the best of privacy and unparalleled views. Sited high on Buck Mountain, your spacious and cozy retreat sits on 10 quiet, forested, private acres. Regular visitors include deer, bald eagles and numerous song birds, and on the way to the property you are very likely to see wild turkeys.

While the adjacent land is steep, it acts as a wonderful buffer and provides an absolutely stellar northern view. You will enjoy panoramic views of neighboring Matia, Sucia and Lummi islands as well as Point Roberts, Richmond and downtown Vancouver, B.C. The mountain views are also astounding. At night you can see the lights from the various ski lifts that operate during the ski season.

You will live comfortably in this spacious, open-concept home with a great room, propane fireplace and two stories of windows to enjoy the beautiful views from nearly every room. It is truly a perfect setting for every season. You can barbeque on the awesome 700 sq ft deck with infinity glass panels, and finish up your day by soaking in style in the hot tub while enjoying the view under the stars.

Upstairs you will relax in your master bedroom suite with a king bed and private deck, and enjoy waking up to the magnificent view. Watch a movie or sleep additional guests in the cozy tv loft. On the main level you have a private queen bedroom with views to the forest. For some peaceful relaxation there is an additional private room (functioning as a library) with a stressless chair and of course more spectacular views. Everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal is at your fingertips in the spacious kitchen with eating bar and dining space all taking in the gorgeous views.

Don't want to cook? No problem! You're just 8 minutes from the quaint and eclectic town of Eastsound - boasting excellent restaurants and shops as well as other necessary conveniences like a gas station and a well-stocked grocery store. Take one of our growlers down to the brewery and fill up with one of our local Orcas brews while you're at it.

Orcas provides numerous outdoor options allowing you to fully enjoy the surrounding natural beauty. Hiking options include many trails on Turtleback and Mt. Constitution, and at Obstruction Pass to name a few. Enjoy kayaking on Crescent Bay, charter a boat and go whale watching or fishing, or just enjoy a leisurely stroll through town and along the bay. You’ll find guidebooks in our home that will help you make the most of your time on the island.

Don't be surprised if you find yourself not wanting to leave your island retreat and view. We understand! When you do leave, we are probably one of the few homes on the island that doesn't make you take your trash and recycling with you.

Amazing Property

  • 5 of 5

This house is set in a secluded and very private area overlooking the water . The house is in very good condition and has large windows and clear deck railings so you can have an amazing view of the water from anywhere in the house. The kitchen was stocked with spices and condiments and the beds were very comfy. The fireplace was warm and beautiful. It was a great experience and we will definitely come back to this awesome home!

Perfect home in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

A truly exceptional experience. I’ve stayed a lot of places - cabins and resorts in beautiful places - but this stay was right at the top. Orcas Island is gorgeous, with a perfect balance of mountains, water and small towns. This property is located in a great spot, with a great ocean view, quick access to town and hardly any neighbors. The house itself is exceptional as well. Great layout with master bedroom loft, living room with all the views and nice bedrooms, kitchen and dining room. The house and property are very well maintained, clean and organized.

Perfect house for a weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Such a nice, well-equipped, cozy house with a KILLER 180 degree view of the water, islands, mountains, etc.... so private and peaceful! It was the perfect setting for a weekend getaway for me and some old best buds from college! We had a lot of fun exploring the island as well, and Eastsound town center is a very short drive from the house! All in all couldn't have asked for a better vacation house!!

We rented out cabin for a couple days, we had great reunion, very beautiful island.

  • 5 of 5

One of the best cabins we ever rented out. very beautiful place, a beautiful cabin, quiet place, meanwhile very close to the city, beautiful parks, cafés, hikes. The cabin itself very new. Clean and beautiful Designed, a gorgeous view out to the ocean, islands, even when you’re in king bed sleeping you have a beautiful view to the ocean, when you wake up in the morning. Kevin has lots of room, fireplace, hot tub with a view to island. Bellingham bay and Lopez Island. Would recommend to other renters. Would come back next vocation. Owners are very generous, quick to reply.

Incredible experience in an amazing home

  • 5 of 5

We were so fortunate to have an extended stay at this beautiful home and were able to experience the change in seasons from summer to fall. It was an incredible experience. The views are outstanding (and better than the pictures), and many hours were spent on the deck or in front of the wall of windows simply watching the views and changing lighting and weather over the broad expanse of ocean, islands, and mountains. At night, the lights of Vancouver, BC, can be seen in the distance. During our stay, we experienced everything from crystal clear days to an occasional storm rolling across the ocean, along with rainbows, bald eagles, and amazing lighting at sunsets—with many sights taken in from the well perched hot tub next to the deck. This is truly a home and not just a rental, as it has everything you need for living and cooking and even room to work if you dare take your eye off the view. The island is also great with many excellent restaurants (not a bad meal to be found at any of the local eateries), great hikes, and other things to experience such as kayaking, whale watching, and ferries to remote islands. Sucia Island was high on our list of favorite activities, and is a great place to spend the day hiking and exploring the beaches. Our favorite hikes on Orcas Island included Turtlehead and Ship Peak for the best views of the Salish Sea and the many smaller islands. Hiking Mt. Constitution provided a good challenge and was worth the effort (one can also drive to the top for incredible views). Other diversions included shopping in Eastsound for local and unique items. Orcas Island Pottery is not to be missed for variety of artists’ work in a beautiful seaside setting. If you have the time and inclination, purchasing locally grown produce and meats from the Farmers Market make for an excellent meal at the house. We made several visits to Buck Bay Oyster farm to picnic. Bring your own wine, and they will teach you to shuck your own oysters. Last but not least, we cannot say enough about the owners, Sara and Matt, who are amazing and are genuine in wanting you to have a wonderful experience. While leaving us to enjoy the home and island, they checked in with us often, provided superb recommendations, and were available whenever we had questions. The only problem that we encountered during our stay was that we had to leave.

About Sara & Matt

Sara is from Chicago and Matt grew up in Hawaii. We both love WA and live close to Seattle, but hope to live permanently on Orcas Island one day.

Why Sara & Matt chose Eastsound

We love this house and strive to keep it looking brand new and upscale, yet cozy. Not only is the house itself amazing, but the views are unbeatable. The pictures do not do it justice or provide the reality of the awesome views. We hope your jaw will drop when you see it, like ours did. : )

What makes this house unique
