Higher Lodge is situated in Limefitt Park in the beautifull Troutbeck Valley. Troutbeck is one of Lakelands most beautifull valleys capturing the very essence of the Lake District National Park - a friendly place of peace and tranquillity set amidst truly breath taking scenery. It's location at the heart of the lake Disrict offers everything the lakes have become famous for practically on the doorstep.

Higher Lodge is perfectly placed for a peacefull holiday whilst being close enough to major towns and visitor centres for those who want to explore the Lake District. On site facilities include a Pub, a shop, adventure playground, football/volleyball field, river pool and direct access to the fells.

Lovely location. Excellent lodge warm and comfortable, well equipped ,a pleasure to return to after busy days out. We also had the bonus of some glorious weather and saw the lake district at it's best, beautiful views with the trees just starting to turn adding to the colour .All in all a perfect break, would like to make a return visit if possible.

Comfortable, clean & in a beautiful setting :)

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at Higher Lodge - it's well equipped, clean and comfortable. The position of the lodge is very easy to find and the views from every window were beautiful. We would have given it 5* rating but there were two things that stopped us: the double bed in the main bedroom was a comfortable divan but very small, more like a 4' bed (we're not heavy people but felt a bit squashed!)); the outside furniture is wooden - which blends in well with the lodge, but it's not very comfortable to sit for a length of time. There was a mini heat wave while we stayed there and thankfully we had a couple of folding garden chairs in the car that we used to sit on the decking and soak up the sun with a nice chilled drink:) We would still recommend this lodge to family and friends as overall it is a nice place to stay and Limefitt is a perfect peaceful park for families, pet owners and anyone wanting a quiet retreat. It has the added bonus of having its own pub on site, which is fitted out nicely with everything a family/couple may need in any weather - beer garden, pool table, Sky Sports etc

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to submit a review it is much appreciated. I would like to point out that the bed is a standard size double and there are soft seat pads available in the cupboard for sitting outside on the conventional wooden garden furniture.

Troutbeck is a perfect base to explore the hills, towns and villages of the lake district. If you are a hill walker you can access the Kentmere round directly from the park. A short drive up the valley takes you to the Kirkstone Pass and a scenic drive down into Ullswater. Windermere is 2 miles downhill giving you access to Bowness, Ambleside and Grasmere all in very close proximity. Coniston is only a short distance away via a delightful little car ferry acoss Lake Windermere.
