cottage in the lake district
A lovely cottage in a very good location. An abundance of good walks and restaurants close by. Easy travelling distance to many iconic places. Plenty of things to see and do.
Have just returned from the cottage, and indeed a lovely trip to the Lakes. The cottage is small, but perfectly formed, very comfortable and one of the best equipped I have stayed in. The parking permit was invaluable and a big thank you to the owners for providing it. If I have one minor criticism/suggestion it would mirror what another review said and to perhaps have a lighter weight quilt in the main bedroom and/or a fan as it does get very stuffy in there as the window doesn't open. Not a deal breaker though and we will definitely be staying again. Location wise it is perfect - roughly 30 mins to Keswick and one hour to the honister slate mine/hardknott pass area. However with beautiful views and villages on the way it is actually a pleasure to drive anywhere.. Bowness itself was lovely and had everything you need. Lots of cafes and restaurants, outdoor shops and gift shops and had a lovely friendly atmosphere. We did the ferry ride to ambleside on the first day and then later on took the foot passenger ferry from ferry nab and did the walk to Beatrix Potter's house and hawkshead. This walk was lovely and would thoroughly recommend it - about 8 miles in total but you can just do one way and get the bus back if you prefer. Scafell pike completed our family 3 peaks challenge and for me, surprisingly, I found it the tougher of the three. The endless trek through the boulder field to the top was (for me) awful but we have ticked that box and feel justly proud. I wont bore with everything else we did, but will reiterate that coming back to the cottage at the end of the day was a pleasure and that makes a huge difference in a holiday. A big thank you and see you again.
Perfect location and comfortable cottage
For the 3 of us - in a week with mixed weather - this was a perfect cottage. Really good facilities - warm and really well equipped. Good location. The car parking permit worked really well. Had everything we needed.
Cosy and warm cottage in the heart of the town. Very comfortable and clean. Would recommend highly.
Wonderful location quaint warm cottage
Lovely cottage with all the amenities in a terrific location in Bowness. Parking lot only 100 steps away very easy walk. Pub, Hole in 't Wall, with excellent food only 50 steps . The home was a great size for a trip with my father. It could be tight for four adults when sitting for meals in the kitchen. Groceries are an easy two minute walk to Tesco. We usually drove to Booths in Windermere for groceries so we could recycle in the bins in their parking lot. Nice hot shower with plenty of water pressure. Very much appreciated the clothes washer/dryer combination. I would certainly stay here again.
Many thanks for your response.
Have a safe Journey home.
