I am a fun loving individual who loves travelling and meeting new people. My particular passion are the animals here at Rock Cottage and the beautiful unspoilt landscape. My interests are walking, photography & cooking. I love to go walking around this part of Ireland and exploring all the beautiful sites. My passion is to go to the local farmers' markets and cook with locally grown produce.
Jacqueline Sarsfield purchased this chalet in 2014
I spent much of my childhood here in Ireland having been born in Dublin. I moved full time to Ireland in 2014 from London.
Having rented Rock Cottage for over a year, I decided to purchase this beautiful place and continue with this well established holiday accommodation business. The gardens, paddocks and surrounding hillsides are stunning, particularly the 360 degree view from the top of the garden overlooking Dunmanus Bay, The Sheeps Head and on the other side the hills and Mt Gabriel.
Property should be left clean and tidy upon departure.
Can't say enough positive things about the chalet and hosts. The setting was peaceful. The property is a tucked away and there is no car noise, which is exactly what we wanted coming from a city. The bed is VERY comfortable. The whole arrangement afforded us the best nights sleep my wife and I have had in ages. Kitchen has everything needed and is stocked with some essential items like cooking oil, salt, pepper, tea bags, etc. The hosts are wonderful and shared some farm fresh duck eggs. Not a far drive to explore the peninsula. Make sure you go to Three Castle Head and do the little hike up to the top overlooking the castle and water. Breathtaking. Anyhow, no regrets booking this property. This made our first trip to Ireland very memorable.
What can't I say about our stay in this sweet little cottage. My daughter just adored the little cottage, especially when she saw the Ms. Sarsfield had put a teddy bear in the bed for her and several books. She even had toys for my little girl to take to the beach. And she couldn't get enough of all the animals she got to see during our stay, especially the donkeys that always came to the gate to say hello.
I just didn't want to leave, it was everything I was looking for. The property was peaceful and quiet. I could enjoy a nice peaceful evening after a day of sight seeing. This little cottage was the perfect size for the two of us. We even enjoyed evening walks after dinner on the property. And the communities we visited were amazing, full of very helpful and friendly people.
Everyone I know that is planning a trip to Ireland I suggest to them Rock Cottages and visit the area we were in. I just can't say enough good things. We will be contact Rock Cottages for our second visit.
The blue little cottage is such a lovely spot... Yes, it is quite small, but it contains everything you need and it is really cosy. Jacqueline is a very nice host and the two donkey were our very cute neighbours. Thanks for a wonderfull stay!
The Rock Cottage is embedded in a breathtaking landscape. The small gravel way to the houses is lined with old trees and wild flowers. Pheasants and many other birds are roaming the gardens. Cattle and donkeys are on the pastures. That in itself was a great first impression. When we looked at the chalet it got even better!
First of all, yes it is as small as it looks. Nevertheless the furnishings are thought through and all things worked excellent. It is a very cosy and cute little chalet. We fell in love with it instantly. Our hosts, Jacqueline and Jonathan, are very nice and helpful people.
Resumé? We had a very nice time there and would like to come back any time.
Definitely worth it!!

We've been at Rock Cottage for two weeks. The house owners welcomed us very warm - very nice and helpful people. We enjoyed our vacation very much, it is totally quiet and comfortable. Their two sweet donkeys are hoggish :-) and visited us every day. From Rock Cottage you could might drive around the whole south west.
It wasn't our last vacation at Rock Cottage.
