'Awesome! – The mountain-biking exceeded all our expectations. Miles of fantastic well marked trails, and all to ourselves. The house was just fantastic - we loved the fireplace. We're coming again!' (Anita, April 2006) 'Wow - what a great place - style and comfort with views to die for' (Alison, Sept 2006)
Sited next the mayors office you'll find this lovely village house with all the comfort and luxury you need. Cool inside when it's hot outside. Beautiful garden and views from it. At the front the famous fountain where at night the good French life is presented: villagers sitting on the numerous benches, enjoying each others company, watching the children play with the water from the fountain. Relaxing on your own bench in front of the house with a glass of wine in your hand. If only you could live here 365 days a year.
The house was bright, spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and very stylish. It had fantastic mountain views at the rear and traditional village square at the front. We loved taking in the former from the different terraces and the idyllic garden and enjoyed the square and passing village life from the bench at the front. The daily bread delivery was always fun. We walked, cycled and drove around using many of the suggestions provided by Graeme. Nearby Mirepoix, one of many lovely places, was a gem. Good restaurants and atmosphere. We loved it and we hope to return.
Really don't know how to start...but we will try...
At first, we were somewhat reluctant to pick a gite situated in a village with few amenities...this ultimately proved to be a blessing in several ways. NO crowds...none. Friendly neighbors...willing to chat, smile and share greetings. Make use of the daily bread van (about 10:00 or so)...be sure to avail yourself of some locally produced honey as well!
A spacious well appointed house, southern facing backyard...terraces...and the view, the view is best described both as breathtaking and soul soothing...excellent kitchen.
Our host (Graemme) was welcoming, getting us situated promptly...he met us with a sparkling Limoux and a warm smile.
Many interesting sites to see within easy driving distance...yet in the end we spent much of our time simply enjoying the quiet South of France village life...my heart even as I write these words yearns to return.
The food, the markets, the selection of wines, Treziers, the Pyrenees...we've already made our deposit for next year.
The property is a fabulous base and in a wonderful location with easy access to a wide variety of places to visit. The interior is fresh and modern and the terrace a great place to eat, drink and talk any time of the day and well into the late evening. Views from the master bedroom are stunning. It was lovely to take a stroll in the garden and the pond frogs provided a constant soundtrack throughout our stay! The property would benefit from a second bathroom hence being rated 4 star and not 5.
We spent excellent time in Treziers.
The house is very sunny, with a stuning view on the pyrennés montains and the beaufifull counrtyside all around.
The house is very confortable, very nice savvy design chairs, table, seats and great paintings for a relaxed but trenty feeling.
The garden is also very well organized with hint of Janapese spirit.
A house which I could easely recommend.
The historic ridge top village of Tréziers is in rolling wooded countryside on the Aude / Ariège border, overlooking the river l'Hers, with the jagged ruins of Château Lagarde behind. Beyond are unbroken views along the high Pyrénées chain, with the famous Cathar castle of Montségur standing prominently below them. If you enjoy historic towns, markets, Cathar castles, lakes, forests, walking, riding, sailing, swimming, or simply enjoy sunshine and French countryside, we think you'll love Tréziers. For cyclists it's a year-round paradise. Less than an hour from the famous medieval fortress town of Carcassonne and its international airport, Tréziers is an ideal base from which to explore the Eastern & Central Pyrénées, with easy access to the mountains and winter skiing. Tréziers is uniquely located to explore some of France's best kept secrets. Limoux - famous for its sparkling wine - is the nearest large town, and for shopping the medieval market town of Mirepoix is just 9k away.
