Very good location, gorgeous views, great house.
Beautiful views and well equipped house
This house was perfect for our Thanksgiving get away. There were 6 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs and there was ample room for everyone. The views from inside and out on the expansive deck are amazing. The property is well equipped, there was nothing that we needed that we didn’t find. There is a book they put together with all the information you need to know about the house and surrounding area - be sure to read it upon arrival and reference it as needed, it’s a great resource. Prior to our arrival I had a couple of questions and emailed the property owner and she responded quickly and thoroughly. I definitely recommend staying at this property - we just checked out and left and I am already missing it.
Weekend in Mountains
This home has the most amazing view. Owners have everything marked and laid out so everything easy to understand. We actually had a situation where we had to stay a bit longer due to car trouble and owner extremely understanding and flexible with us
Would not return to this property. Great potential, but needs a lot of work. The condition of property is poor. Uneven floors, outside has lots of mildew, rotten wood, exposed nails on deck, bad odors, deteriorating wallpaper. We never used most of the items listed due to it's condition. On a Tuesday during our stay, the master bedroom reached 91 degrees. We would not recommend this property.
Unfortunately, this gentleman’s expectations were more in line with a luxury rental in the Aspens as opposed to the cozy mountain country retreat that is our rental. We strongly dispute his mischaracterization of our home and have many excellent 5-star reviews that speak to the true excellent and charming nature of it. Despite the saying “you can’t please everyone,” we certainly go above and beyond to try. May he be well.
The communication was lacking any detail from the start, and the minute he got to the house I got a complaint email with absolutely no details. I immediately responded as I pride myself in providing a comfortable and enjoyable home and we use it as our family vacation spot as well. Once I received details and answered him promptly, he complained that there was a “deodorizer smell”. This clean smell was due to us having the carpets professional cleaned which we do quarterly to allow our renters with fur babies to come and ensuring to keep the house in the highest condition for cleanliness. I didn’t think a professionally cleaned carpet was a bad thing. He then emailed back to say that the housekeeping was fine and very clean, so I am not sure of the double-sided story. All the other complaints this renter had were regarding the outside of the home and had nothing to do with the comfort of a rental or all of the many wonderful amenities the house has that we provide to our renters. The house is on a mountain top and we do upkeep constantly. The back desk was just cleaned, polished and repainted this summer. The house is an older house and does have settling, but that does not take away from the other wonderful comforts this house provides as shown in all of my many other reviews for years. Most find it being built into the mountain and on a boulder gives it charm! We have had a structural engineer out to evaluate the house and it came back fine and it was conveyed to use that this was very typical of any house on the mountain with age. The average temperature on the mountain in September went from a high of 67° and low of 54°. It is easy to get a cross breeze and nice air throughout the house with the number of windows easily by following the instructions provided. You can’t find a nicer house with its amazing views on the mountain at this price point. If you want a brand-new house without this character, I highly suggest looking at properties that charge considerably more than we do.
Spectacular Mountain Views
The view from the top of the world. Sunrise, sunset and summer thunderstorms are all there for your enjoyment.
Owner recommends and Beech Mountain sometimes REQUIRES four-wheel drive and/or snow chains during winter weather conditions (there is a sign that indicates requirement when flashing upon entering the mountain). Please be prepared and have snow chains at minimum (you can purchase as you get into Banner Elk).
