We have a romantic history with Jim Thorpe. Family of ours owned hotels and a bottling company during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As sometimes happens, the accountant ran away with all the money, so we just get to look at our lost inheritance and think about what might have been. Jim Thorpe was the first place we vacationed together as a couple and was the site of our wedding ceremony on a gorgeous May day. It's a place where our family toiled in the mines and in the sewing factory and raised their kids. It’s where every street had a bar and a church and people you dated had to live within walking distance. Now, Jim Thorpe is about artists, adventure and the art of dining, all of which we believe in and support. We can mountain bike, hike or antique and then dine on American cuisine or attend the strawberry festival at a local church. We like it all and are local business owners in the town and committed to its continuing success.
Charlie Sproule purchased this house in 2014
I rented this home to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. The house was perfect! It was very clean, well stocked with everything we needed to have a perfect family dinner. It is also in a great location, walkable to the many shops and restaurants in downtown Jim Thorpe. I would definitely rent this house again. Thank you!
We Stayed at the White Rabbit Cottage for a birthday weekend. It is very spacious and beds were comfortable, better than staying in a hotel. You feel at home as soon as you walk in and able to come and go as you please. Price is very reasonable. We plan on staying here in the future and would highly recommened it.
We had the pleasure of staying at Charlie's White Rabbit Cottage for a short girls getaway. We planned the trip very last minute , and were worried we would have difficultly trying to arrange a place to stay. Charlie was very helpful and quick in responding to help us arrange everything. The house is very beautiful , spacious and well maintained. It is very tastefully decorated . The decor of the house , along with the town really makes you feel as if you have stepped back in time . We were in town for New Year's Eve , and were able to attend a New Years 9
80s and 90s theme at the Opera house , which was very conveniently located right across the street from the house . Over all very highly recommended. Charlie and his wife were very wonderful people and always there if we needed anything. My girlfriends and I will definitely be returning to stay there !!
The owner was very informative about the area and the property was convenient to all the attractions around town. The house is beautiful and spotless.
I have stayed in this home twice in the last few months. It is right in the center of Jim Thorpe - near all of the restaurants and attractions. The house is spacious - there are 3 floors and lots of hang out spaces throughout. The place is just beautiful. Hardwood floors and old world charm.
While you are staying, don't miss:
The Stone Row Pub. A fabulous restaurant on Race Street that caters to all eaters, and includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Also well known for their specialty cocktails.
A night at the historic Opera House, which is just across the street from this house.
The Jim Thorpe Historical Museum.
