Modern, comfortable, very well equipped.
The lodge is situated in a quiet location with great views from the balcony. Windermere and Bowness were easily accessible. The ensuite shower was a bonus as was a bath in the 2nd bathroom. Everything needed in the kitchen was there/. The lounge area was comfortable and warm , it was a pleasure to return to the lodge when the weather was cold and wet.
Clean, well positioned to explore the fells.
All facilities provided in lodge.
On site bar, the Hay Barn. Good pool table and darts, plus Skye sports.
Weather could have been better!
Loved having use of two bathrooms, for the four of us.
Area quiet and unspoilt. Good food in local pubs, in walking distance.
Badgers roaming around the lodge at night.
This place is beautiful. Clean, tidy, and had everything you need. It feels quite spacious and there was plenty of room for four adults. Having two bathrooms was a bonus too. The site is well positioned and quiet. There is a shop and a pub on site if you don’t want to wander out in the evening. Would highly recommend and hope to be back again.
Beautiful view amazing home
Fellside lodge is so beautiful, it's relaxing, peaceful I can't fault it. This is our 4th visit and we just can't wait to come back each year. It's home from home which makes it all the perfect. Time away in the lodge surrounded by wildlife and trees I couldn't ask for a better than we have when we visit fellside.
Every need was catered for, lovely location
Fellside Lodge was a wonderful place to stay. We were two couples and with two bedrooms and two bathrooms (1 en-suite), it suited our needs perfectly, although it would also suit a family with children. Very well equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Very clean and extremely well presented. Although this Lodge is on a site with many others, it didn't feel that way, with views across to the hills on the other side of the valley. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We also had wonderful communication before and after the stay with Bash (Owner). We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and you only need to look at the guest book in the Lodge to see that other visitors have done exactly that!
Tranquil Haven to Return To
This was our first visit to the Lake District. In retrospect we are very pleased with the location we chose: convenient to towns we wanted to visit (Ambleside, Grasmere, Hawkshead, Sedgwick, etc.), to hikes we wanted to take (Rydal Water, Skelwith Bridge-Colwith Force, Lancaster Canal, etc.), and to historic sites (Townend in Troutbeck, Jesus Church, etc.), but itself not a town - quiet and scenic. At the end of each day of hiking it was a delight to go back to a spotlessly clean, well-appointed lodge (just as portrayed in the description) with all the facilities we needed. I contacted the owner several times in anticipation of and during our visit and he always returned to me speedily, able to graciously provide the information I needed.
We ate in vegetarian restaurants in Ambleside (Zefferelli's), at Skelwith Bridge (Chester's) and Kendal (Waterside); they were all excellent. We took the boat ride from Boness to Ambleside - nothing special. The Townend house in adjacent Troutbeck is a real treat; it is very worth while to take the guided tour. We also enjoyed the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry which is with the Abbot Hall Art Gallery in Kendal (a short stroll from the Waterside Cafe).
In short, this was a wonderful place to stay for our holiday week. I would recommend this lodging without reservation.
Whatever your age, whether you want to enjoy the many attractions that the Lake District has to offer. This is where you come to get away from it all! Wordsworth was born here and it’s not surprising that the treasures of these lands inspire a little poetry in us all!
Designated as a National Park in 1951, South Lakeland has something to offer visitors at all times of the year, in all seasons. Autumn and Winter provide snow capped fells, spectacular scenery and numerous possibilities for the outdoor pursuits lover, whilst during the spring and summer months the area blossoms fully into life with many country fairs, attractions, events and shows.
There are plenty of ways to see the local countryside. Hire a mountain bike and explore the lakes on two wheels, or why not take a trip on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, where working steam locomotives and comfortable coaches roll through the beautiful Leven Valley to Haverthwaite and back.
