Our wonderful log home has all modern amenities one could ever need.

Snowmobiling trails are within 1/4 mile of the home. We are at the foot of Lions Head, Two Top, Madison Loop Trails, and Yellowstone Park or Island Park is a 15 minute ride. With over 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails outside of Yellowstone National Park, this area is truly a snowmobilers favorite! The area is also home to cross country/nordic skiing. You can ski on our world famous Rendezvous Ski Trails groomed ski park, offering over 35 Kilometers of winding groomed trails that meander through the pristine Gallatin National Forest. Fifty miles north to Big Sky, MT, the best of Rocky Mountain downhill skiing is offered at two different resorts: Big Sky and Moonlight Basin. Snowshoeing is another winter activity you can do right out your front door through the forest!

West Yellowstone is located in the heart of fly-fishing country. Several of the most fabled streams and rivers in the world are within a five to sixty mile radius of the town, including the Madison River, Gallatin River, Yellowstone River, and Henry's Fork of the Snake River. High quality lake fishing is also available on Hebgen Lake and Quake Lake, Henry's Lake and Island Park Reservoir. All are a short drive from the vacation home.

We are immediately adjacent (within 1/4 mile) to the Gallatin National Forest and only 2 miles from lake fishing. Here you'll find Hebgen Lake at the South Fork of the Madison River with a public boat launch and dock for your use.

All of our guests find out very quickly just how handy it is to be very close to all activities; Hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, bird watching, cross country/nordic skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and of course Yellowstone National Park, which only 10 minutes away. River rafting on the Gallatin River is a great way to cool down on a hot summer day. Try a full or half day rafting adventure along the lower section of the river with lots of rapids. Horseback riding can be enjoyed at the Diamond P Ranch, located 2 miles from the home. Other outfitters can take your party into the back country of Yellowstone Park, or the surrounding National Forest Service land

Don't want to drive around? Well then settle back for a BBQ on the spacious outside patio, or build a campfire in the fire pit for a evening of fun. In the mornings head out back with a fresh cup of hot coffee and enjoy moose, deer, a variety of birds, squirrels, marmots, and other wildlife literally wandering around the area

About Cameron Phillips

We have spent our lifetimes living and raising our four children, now 8 grandkids in Yellowstone Country. We love to hike Yellowstone Park, we are major fly fishing, skiing and cycling nuts, we love just sitting in the pines, taking the grandkids on nature walks, and provide a destination for our children.

Cameron Phillips purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Cameron Phillips chose West Yellowstone

We chose Moose Haven because of the very close location to Yellowstone Park (7 miles), the area fishing, and yet because the home is located in the forest you still think your far, far away from civilization.

My wife has been in this area since she was 3, I started going there 40+ years ago, it has always been a dream to be there. During other times of the year we down in So Cal enjoying sunshine, during July we work in France for the Tour De France bike race, getting to ride bikes is our work each summer!

What makes this cabin unique

A real benefit staying in our that it is just that...'our home', it is not a shell rental unit, but is a rich, comfortable, very well appointed home with everything you need.

We are 10 minutes from West Yellowstone, and YNP west gate. The town has all amenities with good restaurants and grocery stores. We are within 45 minutes of the best fishing waters in the US, if not the world. Lake Hebgen is a large lake 5 minutes away, horseback outfitters 5 minutes away, 90 miles to the south is Jackson Hole and the Grand Teton Park.

We like the bakery and coffee shops in town, and much more.

One of our favorite activities, is to simply have a nice lunch on the back deck, do some reading and listen to the wind through the tall pines and then nap....yes NAP!

It is a must do experience!

An excellent hideaway and Yellowstone point-of-entry destination

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed this quaint 4 bedroom, 2 bath cabin in rural West Yellowstone, Montana. The cabin had all the amenities needed including cooking supplies, toiletries, and entertainment, including satellite TV, DVR, etc. For younger children, there was a fort in the backyard that was helpful in preoccupying their time at the end of the day. The large kitchen with beautiful new appliances was appreciated and there was plenty of seating for us at the dining area. A washer and dryer are available in the cabin, which helped us to eliminate unnecessary packing of clothes. The owners are sweet, hospitable, and available in case of emergency. When we come back to Yellowstone country, we will certainly reach back out. You will love this gem in West Yellowstone!

Perfect for our family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Loved Moose Haven for our group of 7. We were all adults, including adult kids and significant others but I think young kids would do great here too. Clean and plenty of comfortable beds to sleep in. About a 10 minute drive to town and the park entrance. We enjoyed the gas barbecue and the cabin is very well stocked which was extremely helpful. We brought food and drinks and then replenished some items we had used like zip locks and foil. We even used the ice cream maker to make homemade ice cream on the 4th of July. The pictures in the property profile are spot on as well as the description. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Owner Cameron is very easy to work with and responds quickly to emails.

West Yellowstone Meeting

  • 5 of 5

Several of us stayed at Moose Haven while having a three day meeting in West Yellowstone. It is very cozy, has all the amenities you need available, especially in the kitchen--a draw full of spices! And we enjoyed the fireplace as we got five inches of snow while we were there in the middle of May!

Perfect Winter Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Ample room for two families and more. With a full bath and living room downstairs including a second fireplace and TV, this cozy cabin was ideally laid out for our families to set up camp. All the amenities were great and such a beautiful cooks kitchen and communal dining table to gather around. The cold entry was great for storing snow shoes, skies, boots, coolers, etc. Showshoeing and snowmobiling out the front door. A short drive, 5-10min, into west yellowstone for great pizza and cheap snowmobile rentals. Access to the snowmobile trails was quick and we were at the two-tops loop within 15min. The kids (ages 5-8) and parents all had a great time. Thank you to Moose Haven for the wonderful winter vacation!

Cozy cabin stay nestled in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This fantastic cabin nestled in the woods provided us with such a great getaway experience. Snowshoeing out the front door and exploring the area around, while being just a quick car ride into West Yellowstone where we were able to take advantage of what they had to offer. The cabin itself, has a fully stocked kitchen (not what I've experienced at other rentals) and plenty of space for a group to spread out or be cozy watching a movie in the living room. I can only imagine what this gem has to offer in the other seasons. Thank you for letting us stay - look forward to another visit!
