Snowmobile Paradise. Lake front cabin with dock, beach, fire pit and grill.
About Sandra Melby
My name is Sandra Melby. I own Melby Properties LLC, and Minnesota Kind. I have a passion for investing in unique properties and for teaching Yoga. My husband Joe and I farm and raise 4 kids near Thief Lake MN.
Why Sandra Melby chose Bigfork
We love this property because we have always brought our kids fishing in this area. Nothing beats watching a happy kid pulling in bluegills off the dock. We particularly love that Connors Lake is private, and away from the hustle of the busy lower lakes, but just 3 minutes from the pizza parlor and ice cream at Park Recreation in town.
What makes this Cabin unique
Sitting on the dock, walking the trails, or sitting around the fire, this property exudes peace. I sleep better here than anywhere else. I love to paddle out onto the lake as the sun begins to set. I love the call of the loon and the snaps you hear when the fish feed off of the lily pads near the peninsula. I love looking up from my hammock and seeing deer make their way across the wooded trail, and I love to wake up and see the mist rising off of the water. This is a singular place.

Great for Our Honeymoon
This was our first Vrbo and we absolutely loved it. We found Sandra to be very responsive and informative. The cabin was decorated very cutely and smelled like a great northwoods log cabin should. It is located on a very private lake and we never saw another person during our stay. We were able to cook everything we wanted and get groceries a short trip away in Bigfork. There is a lot to do within relatively short driving distances from the cabin if you want to adventure around. The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable, and there are several more in the loft for a larger party. We enjoyed DirectTV and Netflix after dark. We will definitely stay here again for a nice getaway.
This cozy cabin helped make for a perfect MEA get-away! Everything we needed was provided by the owners, from paper products to clean sheets on the beds to water toys. The check-in and check-out processes were so easy!
We are sensitive to scents....the candles and room fresheners that were provided did little to cover the smell of must and years-old cigarette smoke in the cabin. Also, the smell of the rusty, unsoftened water was so strong and off-putting that we avoided taking daily showers.
If you can live with the smells for a few days, this cabin is perfect for a weekend get-away!
My family and I had a great holiday weekend here! The lake was great, cabin was great, and we would love to stay again!
Tranquil, Peaceful, and Private
This was our first VRBO experience and thanks to the amazing experience definitely won't be our last. Sandra was a great host and the property set a new bar for my family from the time we walked in. In the week we were there we saw just one canoe full of humans...it's that private! Fishing is amazing, the true log cabin is magical, and the quality of the decor and setup are superb. Really a great time!
Wonderful Family Getaway!
We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren and couldn't have had a better time. The boat, paddleboard, paddleboat and kayak were in constant use by all. Fishing was good and the weather was perfect. Sandra was very responsive to all requests. Plenty of sleeping room for all nine of us. Thanks for a great first experience with a VRBO!
Perfect weekend getaway!
The cabin is amazing, great space, fabulous location, had absolutely everything we could need. Sandra was fabulous to work and communicate with. We will absolutely stay again!
Minnesota Kind Lodge is located in the beautiful Edge of the Wilderness area between Bigfork and Effie MN. The connection to over 600 miles of snowmobile trails is literally in your back yard. We are at the very top of the world famous Hwy 38 Edge of the Wilderness Scenic Byway (nicknamed loop de loop highway) the most northern lake on the route! The perfect stop after a beautiful drive, especially during leaf peeping season. Some of our fantastic neighbors include: Scenic State Park -with multiple lakes and magnificent stands of old white and red pine to hike and bike through. Chippewa National Forest -the first national forest established in the eastern United States, it encompasses 1.6 million acres and over 1300 lakes! Aspen, birch, pines, balsam fir and maple blanket the rolling uplands, and provide a home to the largest breeding population of bald eagles in the lower 48. White tailed deer, ruffed grouse, and waterfowl are plentiful. Suomi Hills to the south offers 21 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and cross country skiing. Trails are groomed and track set in the winter. The Lost Forty is a beloved area destination. It’s 144 acres of virgin pine old growth forest that has never been harvested due to a 1882 mapping error. The trees in this stand are up to 350 years old! There is a 1 mile self guided interpretive trail that winds beautifully through the ancient pines. The Trout Lake semi-primitive non-motorized recreation area offers 6,000 acres to explore with miles of groomed trails.
