This home is located at the premiere swimming spot at Kapoho and features a huge, crystal-clear, private lagoon stocked with exotic tropical fish -- it's nothing short of having your own 500,000-gallon snorkeling aquarium right in your back yard.
Lagoon House features a spacious living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom with queen bed and single bed, a second bedroom with double bed and small loft bed, 1 bathroom, and lots of deck overlooking the lagoon and ocean.
Downstairs is a large, shady lanai at water's edge, a third bedroom with bunk beds and a second bath with shower and changing room (accessed by an external staircase). A 2-car carport includes an enclosed laundry, storage area and barbecue grill. The yard is beautifully landscaped with flowering shrubs, palm trees, a manicured lawn and other tropical plantings.
Amenities also include high-speed wireless Internet, telephone with answering machine and FREE long distance calls to the US and Canada, a refrigerator, stove, breakfast bar, microwave, coffeemaker, coffee grinder, gas barbecue grill, toaster, blender, under-sink water filter, snorkel sets, deck chairs, ceiling fans, books and magazines, linens and towels, iron, stereo system with CD player, satellite TV, HiFi VCR, and more than 50 movies on tape and DVD.
Exceptionally Unique property, nothing else like it in the world. Location can't be beat, and it is right here in the USA! No passports, no swine flu, no diarrhea. My 5 yo son with autism had the time of his life learning to snorkel in the lagoon. He was on his own swimming around on the second day. We'll be back for sure.
Wow! What a truly enchanting place, it's so hard to describe what a great time we had. On our next to the last day, we swam with no fewer than 10 sea turtles in the Champagne Pond next door. The fish and your pond were of course awesome. Loved the breezes, the sun, the rain, and most of all we loved how close our family became, us 3 island adventurers! Hope to visit next year! Mahalo--
P.S. I was hoping we could watch the Wizard of Oz so that Evan could see Ann's Uncle ray Bolger. Unfortunately, he was too tired from swimming with the fish and turtles to watch a movie.
beautiful location but poorly maintained house, woodwormbeetles fell of ceiling into our bed and walked uncomfortable over us. Houseowner reports 'that happend once or twice a year'. House too small for the stated 7 people, the bedrooms are very small. The cameras outside caused a "big brother is watching you feeling'.
The lagoon is really neat, and the fish are tame and swim right up to you. I don't think the rental is worth the $2,400/week rate, though. I have two issues with the house.
There is no way that this house "Comfortably accommodates up to 7 people." It could accommodate 4 people, tops. It would fit either 2 couples, or a couple with two kids if the kids share a room. There are two bedrooms upstairs, and the "3rd" bedroom is a very, very tiny room that only has room for twin bunk beds, and this room is detached from the upstairs portion of the house, and the other bedrooms. You have to walk outside and around the house to get to this room. It's too hot to sleep in this room, and the kids (15 & 16) don't feel comfortable down there alone. Also, the screens fall off the door every time you try to open them. The second bathroom is also down there, and it isn't even attached to this 3rd bedroom. It is just an outdoor, standalone bathroom. I would have felt better about the rental if they had advertised 2 bedroom, with a lagoon side, outdoor bathroom/changing area.
The second issue I have is the privacy. There is a private lagoon, but the rental itself is not private at all. We stayed from Sunday to Saturday. Sunday through Wednesday was fine, but by Thursday, a big group of people arrived at 6:30am with constantly screaming children, and adults who kept screaming at those children. I slept with earplugs and the screams still woke me up. They also stayed up until well after 3am with powerful flashlights that kept shining in the master bedroom window, and of course the screaming. There is no A/C, and it is too hot to shut the windows to help with the noise. Also, there was a group of 6 or so people who decided to walk along the rock wall of the house and investigate us and the pond. If you look right out the windows, you are always looking at strangers at the cottage next door or at the Champagne Pond.
The kitchen and the house is outdated, but that's fine. You would be staying here for the lagoon. Just don't expect too much else.
I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
I was very happy with the location.
The vacation rental was spotless.
The property manager was very helpful.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
First visit in 10 years...(and 3rd stay at Lagoon House!) The house is very much the same. Still very comfortable, but perhaps in need of a kitchen update. The lagoon is still spectacular. We were there during Hurricane Iselle, though, and the lagoon needed a bit of cleaning afterwards, and the back wall to Champagne Pond was damaged (the one to the left, that is just piled rocks, with no concrete) The house did great. The living room furniture is a bit uncomfortable (hard), but we really didn't spend much time in there. Note that the downstairs bedroom is completely separate from the upstairs (no interior stairs), and right on the water. Not appropriate for younger kids. We will definitely be back. This place is all about the LOCATION! Lagoon, lagoon, lagoon!

Overall our family very much enjoyed the Lagoon House. We had one 14 year old and two 9 year olds. All of which stated that swmiming in the Lagoon was the highlight of their trip to Hawaii. The views from the deck were amazing, the lagoon itself had hundreds of fish and was crystal clear. The living room and kitchen were nice sized and plenty of room for our family of 5.
There were a couple items that as a renter I would like to be made aware:
First, and most importantly is that this house shows as a 3 bedroom and 2 bath. It is important to note, that the 3rd bedroom and 2nd bathroom are only accessible by leaving the main house, walking around and down by the lagoon to gain access to the bedroom. None of the 3 kids felt comfortable in a unfamiliar house, to be closed off from the parents, not to mention as a parent I was not comfortable having their bedroom door, right by the lagoon if they were to get up in the middle of the night.
Second, there is no air conditioning. Which, in and of itself was not a big deal, the large majority of the time with the windows open there was a nice breeze, but during the day if we were home it sometimes got a little warm for our taste.
Third, the TV had a loud buzzing noise. We did not watch a lot of TV there, but the movies would have been much more enjoyable if they were able to watch them without that noise.
I will say that Audry as well as the management company were of great help to us. Audry was there to greet us when we got there, and let us know if we needed anything she was close by. Also the management company was able to assist us promptly when we locked ourselves out.
Again, overall, our family VERY much enjoyed the house, just a few minor details to be aware of for furture guests. Thank you!
This place was a true gem. It was immaculate and inviting. The views are breath taking and of course the lagoon with over 500 fish of all size were just awesome. It was just a wonderful place. Can't wait to go back.
