amazing time

  • 5 of 5

avel about 3 times a year to Paris for business. Convenience is my

priority. This is my first time at the Xavier Privas, I find it to be

perfect. Last year, I rented at the 5th Arrondissement around rue Mouffetard

but it was just too far. From the Xavier Privas, I can walk everywhere. It

is safe walking around the area, unlike sine of the other neighborhoods. The

studio was meticulously clean. Samy was so polite, always answering by "yes

sir" & "no sir", a kind of courtesy that we are unaccustomed to in the US.

Charming but lacking in comfort

  • 2 of 5

- The location of the studio is seconds away from the Metro/RER stations and the Notre Dame. Getting here was simple despite a sleepless night of travel and jet lag.

- The location also is nearby the Monoprix which was incredible and saved us a lot of cash.

- The overall look and feel of the studio is cozy and charming.

- Speedy wifi was greatly appreciated.

- I received many emails from several people and was confused who I was communicating with when I had a question. I never received a response when I did email the owners through VRBO about checking in one hour early. These emails included 10+ Word Document attachments that had conflicting requests. Additionally, the information about what the door looked like was not up to date, which caused confusion. A suggestion would be to provide 1-2 PDF documents after booking and possibly a second email the week of travel.

- Two small fleece blankets were all that was provided beyond a fitted sheet. It would be great if a larger blanket was provided in the winter time.

- Other reviewers have expressed lament about the hot water heater. I really didn't think it would be that bad, but it was terrible (especially in the winter). We timed the shower one morning - it took exactly four minutes before the water turned cold while taking a warm, but not hot, shower. The hot water tank then takes several hours to warm up again.

- There was construction going on downstairs and it was horrifically loud all day long. This point doesn't impact my rating; however, construction meant that outside door to the street was unlocked all day which could have an impact on safety in such a busy area.

- The owners request that you replenish basics like paper towels, toilet paper, and light bulbs. I had no issue with this; however, when we arrived there was only half a roll of toilet paper and two paper towels left which tells me the previous renters did not follow this request nor did the owners replenish the items.

Other points to take note of:

- You are expected to clean the studio on your last day. I didn't find this a big deal but it is something to consider if you don't want to clean on your vacation.

- Under no circumstances would I suggest someone with mobility issues to stay here - two flights of narrow stairs.

- The bathroom is tiny and the toilet is directly across from the bed. I wouldn't recommend two people stay here unless you're really comfortable with your travel companion.

New York, NY

Not terrible for the price.

  • 3 of 5

175 square feet at most. This is a true studio apartment. Good location if you want to be by everything. 10 minute taxi to louvre. 15 minutes to Eiffel tower. Did not ever see host(s), but they were kind. The street that you are on is slightly touristy, but walk a few blocks and you're right on the river looking at Notre Dame. The only thing I had a problem with was the bathroom that was too small for me to get undressed for the shower in. Again, this is pretty good for the price. You're in Paris so accommodations are going to be compact. Good for one or two travelers. Cool history behind the studio. Paris is the best.

The absolute best location and the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful family I met on my travels!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so very much for all your amazing hospitality. You are such a beautiful family and have such a lovely home. You made me feel so welcome and comfortable. Out of all my travels, Lourdes remains the most special time and favorite place I've had the blessing of visiting. Thank you for being so very accommodating with my late check in and check out. I'm grateful and appreciative of your kindness. All my best, Kelley

Excellent location and fun place to be.

This is 'as advertised!' Steps from Notre Dame but so much more. Plenty of cafes and shopping for whatever you need! Be sure to take the owner's recommendation and have a scrumptious dinner at Au Vieux Paris d' Arcole. Wonderful French cuisine, wine and service!
