amazing time

  • 5 of 5

avel about 3 times a year to Paris for business. Convenience is my

priority. This is my first time at the Xavier Privas, I find it to be

perfect. Last year, I rented at the 5th Arrondissement around rue Mouffetard

but it was just too far. From the Xavier Privas, I can walk everywhere. It

is safe walking around the area, unlike sine of the other neighborhoods. The

studio was meticulously clean. Samy was so polite, always answering by "yes

sir" & "no sir", a kind of courtesy that we are unaccustomed to in the US.

Perfect Location

  • 3 of 5

This historic building is definitely historic. It is situated in a VERY convenient location to Blvd St Michel and St Germain. Restaurants and bars are steps away. Monoprix and Starbucks are also nearby. This is a Studio and is described as such.

Definitely a place for young people willing to deal with stairs and small places. This is not for the mature couple who may not have the energy or patience to stay in a small room for a few days.

We are backpackers and we spent most of the day sightseeing so the studio was perfect at the end of a long day, despite the right stairwell.

Very quiet and with all the commotion going on in Paris in June/2016, we felt safe enough.

Some of the cons:

-not enough towels

-hot water did not work in the morning for some reason. Orange light was on from 6:00 am till 8:00 am.

-cleaning the place before you check-out was a strange feeling, but this was communicated in advance so not a shock.

Where do you live?

Not what I was expecting but OK

  • 3 of 5

The pictures are accurate at the decoration etc but not in the actual size of the apartment. Very small. We don't stay in there accept to sleep so worked out fine. The area around the apartment feels a bit sketchy, meaning not the nicest area of town. Again we didn't feel unsafe but cautious. Price does not include community costs so therefore the price was about the same as other areas of Paris. Overall stay was fine.

A unique, historic experience!

  • 4 of 5

The Latin quarter is a truly historic part of Paris to stay. You're surrounded by lots of life, plus walking distance to so many places. Notre Dame and the Seine a stroll away, the Louvre, d'Orsay and many other museums a nice walk. My daughter and I had the best time. Be forewarned...the studio is small. Smaller than it appears in the photos, but it is clean, comfortable, quiet and the bed is really nice. Why pay for extra square footage when you will be out in Paris enjoying the city? I would go back!

Claude supplied us with lots of information and suggestions. He was very prompt in replies. We went to a restaurant that we probably would not have found if not for him. We had the best time and will hopefully return there, as well!

Impeccable location for this charming micro studio…

  • 4 of 5

Greetings Fellow VRBO travelers and Xavier Privas Owner and Management (Claude, Violaine, and Shen) -

Here is my review of our four night stay at this micro studio in the Latin Quarter:

1. Location: Undoubtedly a truly spectacular location from virtually every perspective you consider. In the heart of the Latin Quarter, this studio is truly ideally located if you choose to view Paris largely on your feet or even by bus or metro. You can walk almost anywhere. From museums to restaurants to the Seine, to archaeological and historic sites. It is all there right before you just steps away from this truly superb location. Claude and Shen could not have been more accurate in their description of the value of the location of this studio. Truly marvelous in every way. Of special value is the fact that you can get from CDG to St. Michel on the RER and be at the studio within a five minute walk, at the maximum. Fantastic! Locations score: 5/5.

2. Communication and Responsiveness: Claude and Shen did an outstanding job providing all the necessary detail, and sometimes almost too much of it, to help us as travelers. I really believe that their attention to detail and responsiveness was extraordinarily helpful. Communications score: 5/5

3. The Stairwell: Utterly charming and very narrow. We absolutely loved this stairwell. However, the two of us travel extraordinarily lightly. My recommendation is travel light if you want to get up and down the stairs comfortably with your luggage.

4. The Studio: Some travelers have use the word quaint to describe this micro studio. I would agree with that assessment. This micro studio is ideal for one traveler and, at the most two travelers. I would say that two travelers could stay here relatively comfortably. Any more than two travelers, I think, would be rather cramped. I realize that there is the capability of accommodating a third person, but I would not advise it at all. Two people, is, I would say, the maximum limit. The unit was tastefully appointed and surprisingly quiet. When we arrived, the studio was neat and clean. While the kitchenette is very tiny, it served its purpose adequately. A suggestion: The water heater is extremely small and runs out of hot water quickly. Be resourceful in your use of the very small shower. I would suggest people shower at separate times during the day, so each traveler has sufficient hot water to bathe with. Studio Score: 3.5/5

Thank you! :-)

Perfect location

  • 4 of 5

Once i found the studio I was a happy camper. The building was being worked on so the entry way instructions were a bit different than the real situation. This place could not be more convenient with the RER train from CDG dropping me off within blocks of the studio. The studio was clean. comfy bed and quiet. And i felt safe! It is located within blocks of the Notre Dame. Lots of cafes, restaurants, and bars and touristy chotchke stores. the weather cooperated so I walked everywhere which is the best way to see Paris. I felt like a local who unfortunately could not speak French.

I would highly recommend this rental to family and friends unless they are used to a fancy hotel room or could not walk up stairs. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
