I live in England but lived most of my youth in Gozo. I love Gozo and part of my heart will always remain there. The island is lovely and seems to have something for everyone. I really enjoy visiting the beaches and finded secluded quiet beaches to sit down, relax and enjoy a good book.
Sharon Bellamy purchased this farmhouse in 2002
Gozo is a beautiful place and still maintains its natural way and is not spoilt by heavy tourism. The beaches are beautiful and there are several bars and restaurants to accommodate everyone. There are some really nice places of interest from Calypso Cave to the Ggantija Temples in Xaghra. Gozo has a very relaxed atmosphere and tourists like to walk and enjoy the culture.
The property is just a short distance by car to the famous beach on Gozo called Ramla (15 minute walk). The property is not overlooked and is very spacious with a good size pool. It has 3 good size bedrooms, two of which are en-suite. There is a bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs which all benefit with baths and/or showers.
We just wanted to say a big thank you for letting us rent your beautiful properties in Gozo. Both Villa Poppy and Villa Narcissi were so lovely and peaceful and the pools were amazing. The boys thoroughly enjoyed too in both pools. Paul was fantastic in looking after the pools and was very accomodating in our changeover day to San Blas and made our stay very comfortable. The whole holiday was fantastic and by a very narrow margin I think that Villa Poppy was our favourite as we could walk up to the village for an easy meal and it was so close to Marsalforn, which we really enjoyed both for snorkelling and lovely meals out in the evening.
The four of us would love to re-visit Gozo in the near future so don't be surprised to hear form us again with regard to renting Villa Poppy. Thank you so much.
Could not recommend it highly enough!. So much so we booked for next year while we where there. Thank you Sharon for a brilliant holiday.
very nice property which met all our expectations (familly of 5 - 3 adult and 2 small children), good contact and support from the owner
Property met all our expectations and more can't wait to come back again town and surrounding areas excellent town square was so friendly sharron was great organising our transfers loved every part of gozo this was our first time in gozo and it was our honeymoon and took the kids too perfect two weeks thank you so much hope to stay here in the near future
Second visit to Gozo and this farmhouse did not disappoint!
Location wise, it's perfect, just off the main square in Xaghra with a couple of good restaurants and bars and as well as a lovely atmosphere.
We arrived on the island 3 hours earlier than our arranged time (due to EasJet's silly flight times!!) but Paul was more than accommodating on our early arrival at Villa Poppy. A quick introduction and walk round of the farmhouse facilities then the place was ours to kick back and relax!!
All facilities worked, the place was clean, tidy and a home from home. (The wifi was a real bonus)
I read all the reviews listed here before and after I booked but words just don't do Villa Poppy justice!!
The Pool is fantastic day or night and for some reason the pool area always seemed to have a lovely breeze even when the rest of the island seem to have none!! A good balance of sun and shade during the day.
Thanks for a fantastic base on Gozo to relax and do as we pleased!
I've already recommended to friends and will continue to do so!!
From the first e-mail enquiry sent, through to being dropped off at the airport to return home, the level of customer service was most definately 5 star!
Sharon and her 'team' arranged everything from airport transfers to delivery of the hire car and made it the most stress free holiday from start to finish.
Lovely accommodation, clean, tidy, great facilities. Nice pool just right for a cooling dip. Beautiful view of the church at night from upstairs.
Good selection of dvds, cds and books.
4 or 5 really nice restaurants within very easy walking distance, and even easier stumbling distance on the way back!!
Villa Poppy is idylic. The property itself was very clean, extremely comfortable and very liveable. The pool was divine and so private. Paul met us a told us all the information required. The village itself is so full of character with the sqaure as it's hub. Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops with M & M supermarket stocking everything you could need and Jimmy's butchers selling lovely steaks. We had 1 week in Malta before arriving in Gozo and we thought Malta was laid back well Gozo is horizontal in comparison. No where is very far away and there's plenty to do, see and explore. Beaches on ferry side of island very busy at weekends with visiting Maltese but weekdays nice and peaceful even for July. Sunset at Dwerja is a must. I hope Gozo doesn't get as over developed as Malta - it's charm is the smallness and its narrow maze of streets. Wonderful holiday. Thank you Sharon and thank you Paul.
This quiet and quaint island stands south of Sicily, in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea and spans 9 x 5 miles (14.5kms x 8kms). The island stands 25 miles (40kms) away from its sister island of Malta and is reachable by ferry.
The island of Gozo offers the traveller much to explore and discover that range from prehistoric temples to historical events that have made Gozo what it is today. Many people refer to Gozo as the land where time stands still and in many ways that is still true.
