Guestbook comments from the owner

This is our third stay at this Villa and we love it. The furnishings are cozy and comfortable and we really enjoy the private balcony overlooking the woods. The location makes it convenient to walk to Lake Fairfield, or a short drive to the pool and other Wyndham amenities. I don't know how to leave a star rating, but would give it 4 and a half stars.

Nice condo.

  • 3 of 5

There were so many things "wrong" with the condo it sort of overshadowed the good. I'll list them, but not in order.

The bed "summer blanket" was stained.

The exhaust fans in both downstairs bathrooms were inoperative.

The ice dispenser didn't work, which wouldn't be a problem in itself except you had to pull the whole icemaker out to get ice. I finally took it apart and repaired it since the owner refused to.

Some cabinet doors wouldn't shut until I screwed the hinges back in tightly.

The TV wouldn't pick up the "lower" channels which included the locals. The cable repair man told us it was the wire from the TV to the outside and he could do nothing about it.

The toaster was inoperative.

The downstairs bedroom TV's don't get many channels.

The condo was advertised as "sleeps 6" but the convertible sofa had been swapped for one that didn't "convert" so one guest had to sleep on the couch.

The dining/living room air conditioner leaked all over the place. The manager "fixed" it once but after that we had to put pots underneath it.

Charming Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

we had a great time in this charming little mountain home. There is much to do in the area for kids and adults, and the weather was beautiful compared to the brutal Charlotte summer we left just down the mountain. We will certainly be coming back!

Wonderful vacation and enjoyed the condo!

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful vacation and enjoyed the condo! It was well stocked, wi-fi worked great, really nicely decorated, and, though I'm not a mountain or nature person, and booked this with my kids in mind, didn't want to leave! Will definitely be back.

A few things

  • 3 of 5

Pro tips:

1a. Use the second bedroom shower if you want the hot water to last through out a 10-15 minute shower. Do not use the master bedroom shower unless you take showers in less than 5 minutes or you like cold showers.

1b. The master bedroom shower is like standing under Niagara Falls. The second bedroom shower is like your typical modern shower.

2. If it's freezing outside, sleep in the master bedroom or in the living room on the couch. The second bedroom doesn't have a heater.

3a. The word "lite" in the bathroom refers to the light, not lite heat or lite vent.

3b. If it's cold outside, do use "lite - heater" in the bathroom, so warm. :)

4. We couldn't get the clothes washer to work. Best of luck.

I would have rated this cabin higher if the following didn't give me issues:

1. Master bedroom needs a restricted shower head so hot water lasts longer.

2. Second bedroom needs a heater for freezing weather.

Owner's Response: This villa has been rented only during the summer months so we've certainly learned from this extreme cold weather this winter. Because we take the comments from our guests very seriously, we have added installed a new heater and air conditioner, installed drapery in the living room, and had the hot water heater serviced to improve showers and baths. Hopefully, it will now make winter guests as comfortable as our summer guests.

Cozy, but cold in the winter

  • 3 of 5

We stayed in January and the temperature outside was getting down 10-20 degrees. The main floor heater unit could not keep up. We set the thermostat to 78, but we were lucky to get 65-70. The two double glass door windows have no window treatments and the heat was just sinking through them. If you're used to cooking, bring your own potato peeler, sharp knife and a cutting board, unless you're used to glass one. The fireplace flume could not keep up with the excess smoke and the smoke ended up in the house. Everything else was to our satisfaction.

Owner's Response: As owners of multiple VRBO properties, we are truly disappointed anytime that a guest is not fully satisfied and attempt to address all concerns. Since receiving this feedback, we found that the instructions for the heating and cooling system had been placed in a drawer by a previous tenant, and were returned to their proper location.

Needs Kitchen updates "BAD"

  • 3 of 5

First of all , the Kitchen needs new microwave, new coffee pot, new Fridge that ice maker works and update utensils for cooking, " since there was NO place to eat but Ingles and Subway. As we were told everything was CLOSED for the Season at Ingles. Boy were we surprised . There were NO amenities on the property as shown online. You have to drive to get to them and then pay for the use of them. I called owner about Fridge and microwave not working and he laughed and said it was hard to get someone up there on short notice, but he would see what he could do. NOONE ever showed up to fix either one. Did not hear from the owner again after I called him. Pillowcase on one of the king pillows had blood stain on it so I too it off and did not use it. For this time of the year in January,,, Please be advised that there is Nothing to do in this town or open Restaurants. We had to drive to another town so we should have stayed there. It was a good 2 HOUR drive there and back from our condo in Sapphire. Would not recommend anyone to stay in winter, unless you are content to stay inside all the time and cook. No Activities, Attractions or Restaurants open in January. I thought we got a good deal until we got there and now I think it was over priced. NOT a Good DEAL ., NEED UPDATES .,,

Owner's Response: As owners of multiple VRBO properties, we are truly disappointed anytime that a guest is not fully satisfied and attempt to address all concerns. We employ a professional cleaning company to service each condo after every guest, and have addressed these issues with their management. Since receiving this review, the microwave, and all of the sheets have been replaced. Regarding the Wyndham Resort amenities, the resort offers a number of different amenities, depending on the season, and encompasses hundreds of acres. This particular villa is located within walking distance of the lake and summer water activities, but is about a mile away from the ski slope and winter activities. Following receipt of this review, we checked with the resort management and were advised that all winter activities were available, as well as the indoor pool, hot tub, and spa. Regarding the lack of restaurants, it is correct that winter is a slower time of the year in Cashiers and some restaurants do close for the winter, however, in an effort to be able to advise future tenants, we confirmed that there are a minimum of five restaurants with a couple of miles that stay open all winter.
