About the property

Sleeps up to 34; 24 in 12 beds, 10 children on sofabeds/z-beds

This fabulous, bright and spacious country mansion has undergone total refurbishment to offer stunning, luxurious accommodation for up to 34 guests. With 3 roomy receptions (each with flat screen TV), 12 en-suite bedrooms, panelled dining room with huge oak table to seat up to 28, and a large newly-installed kitchen with Aga, range cooker and granite worktops, there is certainly no shortage of space to relax. To ensure that there is no shortage of things to do we offer a newly-installed gym, sauna and games barn. Outside there is a large mature garden of around 1 acre with keyhole shaped swimming pool, tennis court and16ft trampoline with safety surround net. The majority of the remaining land - around 7 acres - comprises a mature orchard. Leading off the kitchen, the internal courtyard has been transformed into a Zen garden, complete with water feature, hot tub and seating area. A perfectly peaceful place to start or end your day. The Lodge offers WiFii internet access and Sky TV.

This elegant and spacious 12-bedroom Edwardian mansion stands in glorious grounds of around 8 acres. Surrounded by the beautiful rolling Herefordshire countryside, it sits just 5 miles outside the cathedral city of Hereford and only 2 miles from the village of Canon Pyon with its general store and public house. With accommodation over 3 floors, the house offers 12 en-suite bedrooms, 3 reception rooms, a large dining room with table to seat at least 24 guests, and a fabulous newly-installed luxury kitchen with Aga. This combined with the outdoor keyhole-shaped swimming pool, tennis court, gym, sauna, bar and games barn combine to make The lodge the ultimate venue for a short - or long - break with family and friends. Alternatively, the state-of-the-art electronic presentation screen in the dining room, WiFi internet connection and huge oak table seating 24 make it the perfect venue for a corporate/team-building exercise or even a board meeting.

The fabulous newly-installed bespoke kitchen has a good range of oak units with granite worktops and a travertine marble floor. It is fully equipped to cope with large parties, with facilities including a 4-door Aga, 90cm range cooker, 3 Miele fridges, 1 Miele freezer with ice-maker, 2 Neff dishwashers, 2 sinks, a microwave, toaster, plentiful supplies of wine and champagne glasses, tumblers, plates, bowls, cutlery, pots, pans, serving dishes, tea cups, saucers and pots and pans. To help to inspire you to greatness in the kitchen we have provided a good selection of cookery books. However, if they don't do the trick you could always enlist the services of one of our recommended caterers, or make a reservation at the award-winning Wellington Inn, just 2 miles away. Alternatively, you could call and book a table at the Nags Head in Canon Pyon. If you ask nicely the landlord will even come and pick you up then bring you back home at the end of the night.

The 12 en-suite bathrooms are all newly-installed with stylish baths, power showers and natural - granite, marble, limestone and glass - wall and floor tiles, a selection of Damana toiletries, thick towels, chrome fittings and a heated towel rail. Most rooms have a bath and a shower option, and one ground floor room boasts a jacuzzi bath, meaning that there is something to suit everyone. The house has been completely re-plumbed, using almost a mile of copper piping, to ensure that this is one house that won't be suffering from the eternal large house complaint of a lack of hot water. The 3 mega-flow systems that we have installed in the basement mean that we are mega-confident that no-one ever needs go to breakfast without first having had a long, hot shower. The 12 bedrooms are elegantly and individually decorated, and furnished with a king or a double bed, and quality bed linens and throws. Sofa beds and z-beds are supplied for use by children in parent's rooms at a charge of £25 per bed.

The lodge has spacious corridors and 3 ground-floor bedrooms and can therefore accommodate guests in wheelchairs. However, the driveway is gravelled and there are steps from the house to the gardens for which some assistance would be required. Please discuss any special mobility requirements with me before booking.

Simply perfect

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in July for a long family weekend. The rooms - especially the en-suites - are superb. And the grounds are amazing for all ages. We simply didn't have enough time for all the activities - games room, pool, hot tub and tennis court. The property is well equipped and the kitchen has everything you need. Housekeeper Angela couldn't be more welcoming.

Beautiful homely well-equipped and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 19 friends spending a long weekend together to celebrate life and friendship after one of the group was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Maggie came to the rescue and offered us the Lodge at relatively short notice. It was perfect - beautifully decorated and furnished, with everything you could ever need. We loved the setting, the local pub, the gardens, the hot tub, the bbq. The dining room gave us a grown up dinner party, the tennis court and games room gave us endless tournaments! The two little ones loved exploring the grounds. And all with everyone in their own spacious en suite rooms which meant no arguments or tension. It was a wonderful weekend and if you're hesitating to book this, don't!

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased to have been able to help a very special group of women to spend precious time with good friends, under very sad circumstances. They were a joy to have at the Lodge, and I wish them all the very best of luck, and hope to hear from them again at some time in the future. Good luck to you all, lovely ladies. With very best wishes, Maggie xx

A perfect family weekend at the Lodge

  • 5 of 5

There is no point in repeating the previous glowing reports for this property, all of which are a perfectly accurate and a true description of the Lodge and its location. Our large family of 30 plus were generously accommodated in every way over the May bank holiday weekend. We all felt so very welcome and at home from the minute we arrived. The Lodge is very much a family residence with beautiful furnishing and generous decor and artwork. We are left with a feeling of the warmth and protection this house offers to all the generations of a family the tentacles of a protecting spirit wrapping its arms around us! Both the owners and the caretaker were extremely accommodating and helpful in every way. It has been a pleasure to communicate with them and we can not fault anything about the Lodge. We will certainly consider another stay at this lovely house.

Perfect venue for a large family get together

  • 4 of 5

We booked a weekend at the lodge to celebrate with friends and family a year of milestones. With such varied activities to hand, and large surrounding gardens, everyone had something to keep them amused. We were all stunned at the size of the bedrooms and bathrooms and the elegant decor. The highlight for us was being able to cater for so many people without hassle due to the well equipped kitchen and having enough space for our guests to dine and socialise in comfort.

An excellent house for a family get together

  • 5 of 5

We hired the house for a joint stag and hen party.

The house and grounds were superb and the facilities exactly what we were looking for. Both Maggie and Angela were really helpful answering all of my queries before we arrived.

The Wellington pub was just the right distance for a stroll and a decent lunch on the Saturday.

The house easily accommodated 27 adults and it was fantastic having a dining table big enough for us all to eat together.

With plenty of breakout areas people were able to relax on their own rather than feel they had to do everything together.

The BBQs and outside area got well used, although I think we were lucky with the weather!

I would definitely recommend The Lodge as a venue for a get-together.

Thank you!

If I could I would give it six stars!

  • 5 of 5

Rented for a long weekend to celebrate a 60th. The house, the fittings, the grounds were all out of this world. Space to lose 18 people and a kitchen to die for!

Everything was beautifully presented and maintained.

Very convenient for Hereford and surrounding area.

We are already planning our next stay!
