I couldn't have been happier with Baille Hill house. It was spotless when we arrived and the location was perfect - it was so nice to be able to walk to the city centre. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others.
Overall we had a really good time the 4 nights we stayed. The property had ample room for the eight of us and being spread over three floors meant we never felt like we were in each others way, which with 5 children in tow is no mean feat! The floors, however, were very thin, I was unlucky enough to have the ground floor bedroom and could hear absolutely everything above me. So if you have a light sleeper in your party, be kind and let them have one of the rooms on the floors above!
The location was absolutely perfect. When on holiday I like to park the car and not use it again until it is time to leave and that is exactly what we did. Everything you need is close by and it was so easy to stroll into the centre and see the sights, we particularly enjoyed, as a family, walking the wall!
Our main gripe would be with regard to the cleaning. All the common areas were spotless, the kitchen and bathrooms especially were clean but when you looked a little deeper it wasn't so good. Dust on the headboards, items just dusted around but thick underneath, used tissues under beds, items in drawers or under beds, a couple of crockery items had food embedded on them. I wouldn't normally mention this as you do expect this from rental properties but I think we paid a prime price, especially given the time of year so we should expect prime cleanliness as well.
Having said that we wouldn't hesitate in recommending the property to anyone else, the service we received with regard to booking was really good too. We are now considering staying in another property handled by the same company in the summer and who knows, we may well return to York next winter too!
ideal town house in ideal location the house was clean and tidy with all amenities needed . The street had plenty of shops ,takeaways and restaurants. Which I would give 10/10. Took 5 minutes to walk into York . Would recommend this house.
We followed the instructions provided and found the house easily and parked up. We entered the property after 4pm (following the strongly worded instructions!) and had a walk round the house discussing who was going to stay where. Having discussions with my ladies on the morning of our departure we all agreed that the beds very comfortable, linen of good quality, settees in the lounge comfortable and a lovely bright airy room. There was a bathroom on all 3 floors so all bedrooms were covered and the kitchen was fully equipped and had a lovely large table where we sat and chatted as only a group of ladies can!!!!!! There was plenty of hot water for all of us to shower and the house was really warm and cosy. The location of the house is brilliant with absolutely everything within walking distance! We had a very enjoyable visit to York, thank you.
Just one little negative criticism that was mentioned was that, in our opinion, it would be better to provide large bath sheets rather than the small bath towels that were available, although there were a lot of towels provided.
Eight of us enjoyed a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. We weren't in the house much, but when we were it was cosy and comfortable and easily big enough for us all. We enjoyed a meal sitting around the big table in the dining room. Location was perfect, a walk along the river to the races, central for the town and very near to lovely cafes and pubs at Bishopthorpe.
We had a delightful stay at Baille Hill House. It was clean, comfortable, and so convenient to everything we wanted to see in York. We especially enjoyed our walks on the wall and many visits to the local pubs. (I really miss the pubs now that we are back in the U.S.).
