The Green River meanders lazily between Lake Couchiching and Washago, its emerald waters beckoning kayakers, canoeists and nature lovers to explore its water and banks. On these banks is where you'll find Riverdale, a delightful refurbished traditional River House positioned to let you enjoy the river to the maximum.
The cottage sits quite close to the water, and one of the star attractions is the screened sun porch that spans the width of the cottage. Here you will find sofas at either end, complemented by a dining table in the middle. We think this is where we'd spend most of our time (when not on the water) and expect you may feel the same. Inside the cottage, you will be equally comfortable. The living room runs the length of the cottage, dividing the kitchen, bath and laundry rooms from the 2 bedrooms, the latter of which are access by wonderful sliding barn-style doors.
The kitchen is bright and contains all you need to prep your food, and of course the requisite BBQ is available to you outdoors. You'll also appreciate a feature normally only found in larger cottages - a washer and dryer.
Outside, you're going to love taking in the view from the dock. Whether you're looking up river or down, the view is peaceful and spellbinding. You may well see bass swimming by the dock - the water is crystal clear - and the resident otter will very likely pay a visit during your stay. 4 kayaks are available for your use (2 adult, 2 youth) and you'll want to explore the waterways...even if it's just to kayak into the town of Washago. If you have a motorized craft you'd like to bring, a public launch is available in town and access to Lake Couchiching and the Severn River is easy.
Want to head out and about? Highway 11, just a few minutes away, will take you south to Orillia and north to Gravenhurst, each with their own unique cottage country flavour. If you're feeling lucky, maybe you'll want to head in the other direction - Casino Rama is less than 20 minutes away...but to be honest, if you're staying at Riverdale, we think you've already hit the jackpot!
