So! There are indeed lots of choices of places to rent in the area.
Why DO YOU want to stay in this house?
Simple...It is completely renovated with a stunning terrace with views on the old city. It is confortable, it has a whole stainless steel kitchen, two luxurious bathrooms with two separate toilets on both second and third floors, a lounge area that opens on the terrace.
Other advantage : your host lives in Massachusetts. You have a question... it is a simple phone call and a chat with suggestions of what to do and where to go.
And he knows, because he was born and raised in Arles and keep an acute ear to what's new in town.
He also knows what world travelers expect, having lived in the USA for 3 decades, traveled in France, Italy, Ireland, England, Spain, Turkey, Morroco, Algeria, Mexico, Canada, Australia and all over the US.
Back to the house. It is in the coolest and most charming neighborhood, steps away from the Rhone with a magnificent river banks, and close to the most importants museums of Provence.
La Roquette is a historical small neighborhood in Arles dating back to the
12th century. It is the most preserved and homogeneous part of town, since no new buildings have gone up since the 17th century, only simply nice and discreet renovations that are beautifying the neighborhood ahead of all other areas.
It is the hip neighborhood, occupied by artists, writers, young professionals, resurrecting old buildings and small retail venues. The center neighborhood plaza Place Paul Doumer, is the host of concerts,
plays and farmers market. There is a real sense of dynamism and fusion
of styles in the streets of La Roquette. This was recently illustrated in
the New York Times in a video and article devoted to both Arles and
the neighboring city of Avignon.
A two km stunning promenade along the banks of the Rhone from the museum of Roman Archeology to the train station offers majestic views on this powerful river, once a major axis of cargo and people transportation. A paradise for joggers and hikers and curious travelers.
Many guests would like to know where to park their car. Although we looked into buying a parking space, so far we have none. Parking
a few minutes away, along the Rhone river and under the larger bridge
leading to Nimes and La Camargue, boulevard Jean Jaures. However, for peace of mind the
paying parking on Boulevard des Lices (11 mn from the house) is the best
option. Open 24/7. Plan accordingly.
Train from Airport takes under 40 mn.
Arles train station offers a free shuttle
that let you out (6th stop) around the corner from the house. Shuttle stop Grenier. Please contact us for more info on transportation, restaurants, sights and day trips.
