Charming 1800's Cottage on the Niantic River
About Amy Davis
This summer cottage is near and dear to us. We four sisters are fourth generation owners! The property was originally purchased in 1910 by our father's great-aunts. The picture is at The Dock in Niantic, one of our favorite places to enjoy seafood. .

Charming house with lots of activities to do on property and in the local area!
Staying at this beautiful house is like stepping back in time. I love history so all of the rooms and furniture bring you back to a more simply time. There are modern touches but it doesn’t take away from the integrity of the house. There are many activities to do at the house including kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and even sailing on a sail boat. You just have to know how to sail to use the boat. The local area is beautiful. It is full of shops and restaurants. We went to a candy store, used book store, and a couple of ice cream shops. We also brought our bikes and went for rides around the neighborhood and downtown area. In the evening we went for walks along the beach and boardwalk that is located in town. The binder you find in the house was very useful because it had many suggestions of things to do and places to go to. The owner of the home, Amy was informative and prompt with responding to messages. I would highly recommend staying at the house on Oswegatchie Road. My family and I look forward to staying there away in the future.
Thank you for the nice review, and we really appreciate your description of the area and the property. There is a lot to do in the area, yet it can also be a relatively quiet space. It is also a great area for bike riding. Please bring your family back again next year, or any time!
A little bit of the cape here in Connecticut
This property was quaint and charming and the backyard was a little slice of heaven. My kids (all adults) really enjoyed swimming and kayaking in the lake. The owner was a dream to work with, great 1st time experience. And don’t miss out on the donuts in town, they were exceptional.
Thank you, I'm so glad you and the kids enjoyed the house, yard and river. And we agree about Flanders Donut and Bake shop! Come back and visit us again when you can.
Beautiful view. We all enjoyed sitting around the fire pit and use of the kayaks. Really fun!
Kitchen was very well supplied. It is an older home but so charming and unique. Nice, quiet area.
Only complaint (and it’s purely personal choice) is the queen mattress I had was so very hard.
Perfect River Front House for Exploring the Area
This house was the perfect location for exploring Mystic, Groton, Old Saybrook, Essex, Chester, Stonington, etc. And after a day out and about, nothing was better than coming back to the house and enjoying the river view. House was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay, and Amy was very easy to work with.
Thank you so much! You are right to point out that we are situated quite close to some wonderful shoreline towns. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you can come visit again someday.
The house was quaint, clean, and the new porch was used everyday.
We had a wonderful five days of rest at your cottage. Everything we needed was provided for. We enjoyed the fire pit, kayaking along the river, the closeness to town, barbecued every evening and ate outside, really liked the privacy! Marie, Mother, and Sisters
Thank you Marie, we are so pleased that you, your sisters and mother enjoyed the house! It is a very peaceful spot. Hope you can come back again.
Great location and a true New England experience!
We loved the house on the river. It has so much charm and had everything we needed. Our family had a wonderful stay, and we would recommend this house to our friends and family.
Thank you so much for writing! We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the house. Please feel free to pass the word along to family or friends or any future USCG families. It was great to have you.
