4 Bedroom, 2 Full Bath Bungalow style home on remote farm setting sleeps 8
The Throneburg family has lived and farmed in this area for over 150 years. Ron and son Troy have a varied operation raising both conventional and organic row crops. Ron's brother and sister-in-law Monte and Joyce live just west of Two Roads on an 80 acre organic farm. Ron grew up just 1 mile east of Two Roads on the property that serves as the home base for his farming operation today.
Joyce purchased this Bungalow in 2013
Why Joyce chose Assumption
With three ancestral homesteads within two miles and because Ron and Troy were expanding their organic farming operation, it made sense to purchase this property that has grain storage and quick access to their farm operation's home base... less than a mile away. The house sits on a slight elevation and offers a secluded, quiet setting.
What makes this Bungalow unique
This remote setting is generally quiet however it is a working farm. The home sits on several acres of yard and farm 'out buildings' but is surrounded by farm land. Depending on the time of year, tractors could be planting or cultivating crops, combines could be harvesting, semi-trucks could be hauling grain. For people unfamiliar with agriculture, it is a great opportunity to see the action.

Wonderful house to stay at
I booked this place for the weekend of my son's wedding in Pana, IL. The house was very comfortable and met all our needs. Including lots of space outside for my grandson to run and run. We had all the amenities we needed for our stay. Communication with Joyce was super easy and fast. This beautiful two story house in the middle of the corn fields is a gem to visit. If you are in the area, this is the place to stay. Not sure our travel plans will ever take us back, but if they do, this will be my first choice.
Thank you, Tonya
We enjoyed the farm house - it was clean comfortable and the owner was quick to answer any questions we had. We enjoyed our visit to the nearby prairie. We home to stay again on the future.
We stayed here while visiting family in the area and we really enjoyed it. The property was perfect for me, my two children, and my sister’s family of four. Very clean. In a rural area. I will consider staying here again.
We had an absolutely wonderful time!
This is such a lovely & welcoming home.
We so enjoyed our stay and felt at home while we stayed at Two Roads Abode. The view is beautiful surrounded by rich farmland. Thank you for such a great place to have a memorable holiday!
Gorgeous house , very clean , will stay again!
Spent Thanksgiving with my family here. It was perfect.
Beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bath Sears Craftman's farm house with plenty of room for large family dinners
The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Located in middle of some of world's richest farmland provided beautiful views of green fields of corn and soy beans.
We enjoyed waking to the sounds of song birds (not traffic) and long walk down the lane filled with butterflies of all colors. The sunsets and the night sky were amazing.
We were in Central Illinois to visit family. Within 20 minutes of this peaceful farm house is Lake Shelbyville to the East and Lake Decatur to the North. We hope to return soon.
Two Roads Abode is 1 hr east of Springfield, IL home of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and other Lincoln sites (home, law office and tomb) as well as Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana Thomas House.
8 golf courses are within 30 to 40 minutes of Two Roads... some as close as 12 miles. Oak Terrace about 5 miles south of Pana features an 18 hole course, full service SPA and dining options.
45 minutes northeast is the Arthur/Arcola communities with charming Amish settlements throughout the countryside. Visit their specialty shops displaying craftsmanship from woodworking to culinary arts.
Lake Shelbyville, 20 minutes south provides boating, beaches, hiking and cycling opportunities. The General Dacey Trail, accessed from Shelbyville's Forest Park is a wonderful hike through old growth oaks where you'll often see deer and wild turkeys. Several of the campgrounds around Lake Shelbyville have boat ramps. Both Findlay and Lithia Marinas rent various sized boats.
Willow Ridge Winery is only 6 minutes away. Louie and Tina Donnel built this Tuscany style winery on farmland that was homesteaded by Donnel ancestors. Check out their website... they often have music on weekends, the setting is lovely and the wine is exceptional.
Appegio Winery is 2.5 miles south of Assumption on Rt. 51. Mike and Karen Swiney remodeled a turn of the century barn into a beautiful 2-level winery.
