Aspen Cottage offers the ideal combination of the peaceful rural beauty of nature with a convenient location to the many opportunities that the charming Western town of Durango and its surroundings provide.
Commonly seen on the property are herds of migrating elk, wild turkeys, many other small animals, birds including hawks and eagles and, of course, horses. Nestled in the Animas Valley the views are spectacular from every direction.
In Colorado’s SW corner at 6500’ elevation of the southern Rocky Mountain Range, Durango displays the beauty of the four seasons while boasting 300 days of sunshine annually. Winter provides skiing & snowboarding at the family-friendly ski resort and sleigh rides at Rapp Corral. Summer offers opportunities for trail riding, hiking, rafting, fishing, boating and golfing. Side trips include the narrow-gauge steam engine train to Silverton and the Indian ruins at Mesa Verde National Park. Durango’s western charm is enhanced with many fine restaurants, breweries, historic bars, unique shops, entertainment and community events. As a college town, Fort Lewis College adds its youthful vitality.
