Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 3-6)

Casa Angel was designed by Miguel Valverde, a well known Mexican Architect whose work has been featured in Houses of the Pacific Coast. It is so lovely and graceful with a fantastic setting! The expansive ocean view includes a long stretch rugged coastline, the palm-lined beach, as well as the lagoon where the fishermen of Sayulita moor their boats. On the land side, Casa Angel sits directly beside a wild and completely undeveloped jungle canyon. The ocean breezes are nearly constant, and you can fall to sleep to the gentle sound of waves breaking on the shore. At night, the lights of Sayulita glitter below. The sunsets are magnificent, and in every room are large wooden doors and windows, which fold open to create an airy indoor/outdoor lifestyle perfect for the tropics.

Surrounding Casa Angel is an extensive, flower-filled garden, and a lush level lawn. Beyond the lawn is a gracefully curved salt water pool, not a dipping pool, but one that is large enough to swim laps. And it is all yours. Since there are no casitas or other units on the property, once you close the garden gate behind you, no one will enter except at your invitation. Lounge in the sunshine or take a night swim in the sparkling lighted pool.

Casa Angel features three totally separate, private bedrooms with adjoining baths. The upstairs Master Bedroom is ringed with a flower box filled with yellow, pink, and purple blooms. The upstairs bedroom has an outstanding water view. The downstairs Lilac bedroom opens directly onto the patio and pool, and not only has a gorgeous ocean view, but looks out as well into the wild jungle canyon. The house can sleep six people in style, and if needed, there are blow up mattresses for an extra child or two.

The breathtaking natural surroundings, combined with an exceptional attention to detail, literally surround you with beauty. Ringing the floors of each of the round rooms, as well as in the pool, patio, and paths you will find delicate inlaid stone vines and flowers by talented artisan Lupe Ascencia. And from her place in the garden, an exquisite hand carved stone angel watches over the house.

Casa Angel offers luxury furninghings throughout. In the Verde Bedroom you will find fine hardwood furniture from Malaysia, the Azul bedroom has local Mexican furnishing and in the Lila Bedroom, a beautiful white four poster bed with a canopy. Curvy wrought iron outdoor chairs and a marble table allow you to eat outdoors in style, while chaise lounges and chairs imported from the United States make you comfortable around the pool. The kitchen counters and the patio are crafted of a beautiful mango colored local rock called Tekul. An elegant wicker sofa sectional and tribal rug grace the living room area, and the round dining table and chairs were custom made by an artisan who works in a small village outside Guadalajara.

Carmina our maid will clean every day except Sunday (unless this is not wanted.) Our local English and Spanish speaking house manager, Eric will be available to handle any problems or questions which arise. Air conditioning is available in all three bedrooms during the summer months, and is not needed at other times because of the almost constant ocean breezes. The walk down to the beach is only about five minutes, but because the house sits high on a hill, if you are disabled or out of shape for walking, you may wish to bring a car, which you can park in the palapa covered carport just beyond the garden gate. The house is located on a good cobblestone road. Town is a ten minute walk and the beach is a 5 minute walk.

About The Owner

We're the Simpson family from Vermont. We are avid snowboarders and skiers and enjoy surfing, paddle boarding, golf and yoga. We fell in love with Sayulita from the start and hope you will enjoy the many shops, dining and sport activities it has to offer. Sayulita is a perfect blend of an authentic Mexican pueblo and a modern bohemian village.

The Owner purchased this house in 2010

Why The Owner chose Nayarit

We fell in love with Casa Angel the minute we saw it. It's unique design, views and beautiful gardens captivated us immediately.

What makes this house unique

Our home is tucked away on Nanzal Hill, North End with a beautiful and private view of the beach, water and town. Enjoy a heated saltwater pool while only minutes to town and beach.

Heaven on earth - perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Sayulita is an incredible, vibrant little beach town and Casa Angel is the best way to experience it. The home itself is comfortable and peaceful, with unmatchable views and complete privacy (and very safe too). The decor is local and colorful, and the house is very clean. You can easily spend days at the house in the heated saltwater pool, or take a 5 minute walk to the beach or 10 minute walk into town for music, food, shopping, etc. I'd highly recommend staying here - I can't wait to come back!

Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This home is absolutely stunning, with views to match. The property manager is very responsive, and we had Carmina, the house cleaner, cook for us many days. Her meals were delicious and she was absolutely lovely. We could not have enjoyed our time at Casa Angel more!

Very Comfortable, nice view.

  • 4 of 5

The house worked out well for our family. It was big enough for 5 adults and 3 kids. Close enough to the coffee shops to walk to them in the morning. Great pizza restaurant below the house too. Eric was super responsive to any need we had. We wish the pool would have been heated, even minimally. The cold water made it so most of us didn't use it. Renters should also be aware that in the master bedroom all the sound from the house right behind it comes directly in the bedroom, including peoples' conversations. Music from town below is also pretty loud. We cranked up the white noise on our iPhones and it helped a lot. Overall, a really nice place to rent, just with a couple relatively small drawbacks.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review and visiting Sayulita. We are looking into heating our pool. It does get a bit chilly for January. Sayulita is a lively town with lots of music and parties and guests do enjoy the outdoors. We hope you visit Sayulita and Casa Angel again.

Casa Angel - a Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

My kids and I just spent a magical week at Casa Angel. The photos do a great job of showing how beautiful the house is, but you don't get a full sense of the splendor until you arrive and hear the birds and smell the flowers. The house is well appointed and decorated, the kitchen is fully equipped, the bathrooms all work great, and the pool was divine - while a bit chilly in December, we still swam in it every day. The house is very secure with solid locks, an alarm system, and a safe. Yes, the house is up a pretty steep hill (Nanzal Hill) but the benefits are the cool air, great views of Sayulita, and the fresh breeze. We rented a gass powered golf "car" (from Town Around) and it had no problem getting up or down.

Casa Angel is well run by the manager (Eric) and the housekeepers (Carmina & Diana). Eric went out of his way to be there for our late arrival, help us line up a boat trip (Chica Loca - highly recommended), and was very responsive at all times. The owners were also very communicative and informative - the house info sheet is one of the best we've received for any property we've rented in the past.

We are thinking about making this an annual trip and Casa Angel will be our first choice for sure!

Outstanding experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently had the opportunity to stay almost two full weeks at Casa Angel. It was our first time in Mexico, and our experience with the house and the town of Sayulita was outstanding. The house is as beautiful as it shows in photos. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need. The water quality is excellent; we drank tap water without issue. The beds are very comfortable; sleeping under a palapa roof is a unique experience; the detail and uniformity of the fronds above are amazing. The swimming pool is heavenly and very well maintained. The views from every room offer a glimpse of the jungle and its creatures; we saw MANY! Bring binoculars; we used ours constantly! The bird-watching is amazing! We saw Elegant Trogons, Chachalacas, a Colima Pygmy Owl, Golden Cheeked woodpeckers, Yellow-Winged Caciques, Magpie Jays, Tanagers, Orioles, several parrots and many more that we didn't identify. Defenders.org has a great PDF "Birds of the Riviera Nayarit" that we referred to often. The many iguanas were fun to watch too! Carmina is a wonderful house keeper, but her true talent is in the food she will make on request; she even gave me a lesson when I asked, in how to make authentic ceviche and a couple of salsas - I told her she needs to offer classes - she is worth her weight in gold; tip her well. Chemo takes great care of the garden and grounds - it is a veritable paradise. Nanzal Hill is better known to us as "Buzz Kill Hill." It is short, but the steepness combined with 86 degree weather and 90% humidity makes it quite a hike back up! But it is part of the adventure.. and your reward for climbing it is that glorious, refreshing swimming pool (and whatever you put in one of the several blenders!) We tried the golf cart rental, but it truly is a short distance, and so decided the expense not worth it. Did I mention the view? You'll not get this jungle experience staying in town. Casa Angel is Romantic, private, beautiful and natural. You would do well to choose this home. Thank you so much to the owners for sharing their piece of paradise with us! We loved it and hope to return.

Owner's Response: Thank you Rebecca for your outstanding review of Casa Angel. We're so happy when someone has such a nice experience as you and your family did at our home. We always like to hike up the hill after yoga at Los Suenos to get some cardio but the golf cart is nice at the end of the night. Mexico is a truly unbelievable nature experience and Sayulita is a very special place. I"ll pass on the nice comments to Carmina and Chemo! Please come back and visit!

Casa Angel a vacation to remember

  • 5 of 5

After about 3 days you realize your not living in a post card. That what is in the distance is real and not a photograph inside a travel magazine. That the house and its surroundings has been so well designed and engineered that even the most anal designer would be set back with admiration. Casa Angel is everything the owner says it is, and more.

Negatives: Pool water is pretty cool during the dead of winter months. Be ready to be refreshed.

Upper bed rooms are a little noisy due to the palapa roof. If your a sound sleeper, not a problem.

Owner's Response: Thank you Ted! The staff at Casa Angel enjoyed having you there as well. Every time we are there we feel very lucky to own such a beautiful spot. There are pluses and minuses living in a palapa! It has been a mild winter in Sayulita so the pool water has been temperate in Jan-Feb. I hope all your needs were taken care of and we hope to have to back to Sayulita again. Sally
