The cottage is awesome. You get the solitude you want. Can enjoy the night sky - it is awesome. The cottage is extremely clean (for a mountain cottage - there are ants ant the like sometimes). There are (or we have not found) no ustensils to actually eat though.
The only thing that is not perfect is the lack of internet. There is no internet and that should be listed in the description. There is wifi, but no internet access though that Wifi. Maybe there is some monthly cap that was hit before we got there, but from our POV, we never got to transfer one byte of data.
Note that if you don't have cell phone service here (and we did not, without internet there is no way to communicate electronically with your hosts or even the police/911.
But you should not go here for the internet!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Finding it was easy, entering directions were clear, the linens and towels supplied were very nice, the queen bed was very comfortable, the bunk bed was a little harder but my daughter said it was fine after all, the kitchen well supplied with needed pots and pans etc, the decor was nicely done and up to date. The property is secluded and private. The only change I would make would involve repiping the house. The water tastes very much like iron. We purchased water to drink. Everything else was top notch. It was an easy drive into Yosemite also.
Great and Easy Adventure
the property was in an amazing location close by to yosemite. the check in and out process couldnt have been easier. 5 stars.
Clean and Convenient
The Yosemite Mountain Cottage worked out great for our family of 5. The place was quite clean. They had plenty of clean linens available. Everyone had a bed. Expect there to be some small critters around. We had a good laugh when my wife put on her crocks and a lizard scampered out. The place is only 6 mi or so from the Big Oak Flat Entrance to Yosemite. If you are going in on a Saturday, do get there early. We slept late, didn't get on the road until 11 am, and got stuck in a snarl of traffic to get into the park (1+ hour to go 1 mile :( ). Then there was too much traffic to go down to the Valley. We got up early on Sunday and were in the Valley looking at Yosemite Falls by 8 am. It was spectacular in June this year.
Super comfy place
We stayed here with our two kids for their first visit to Yosemite. I'm not a great traveler; I'm painfully sensitive to noise, so was hoping for something peaceful. This couldn't have been better. The gated property has two cabins, the other being at some distance away (and might have been empty at the time). All of us loved the cabin and the surroundings. The full kitchen is stocked with utensils. There's plenty of room to relax in the living room and separate bedrooms. It's a substantial drive into the park, but it sure was great to be in absolute quiet in the evenings. Our eleven-year-old did a painting of the sunrise from the front of the cabin. My only complaints were squeaky bedroom doors, which I alerted the owners to, and the fact that it is pretty expensive. But everything nice around Yosemite is pretty expensive. I had previously made a reservation at a resort location a few miles up the road and had needed to cancel, but while we were at Mountain Cottage we drove up there to eat and found that the other place was not only huge but was having a very loud wedding party, so I thanked my lucky stars for our quiet cabin in the woods. The owner was also very helpful in follow-up emails about planning future visits.
Yosemite Mountain Cottage
We stayed at the Mountain Cottage for 4 nights and have nothing but good things to say about the accommodation. It a beautiful, peaceful setting very close to the national park.
We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage kids + whilst the sleeping accommodation is small it was certainly adequate. We BBQ'd every evening + the cottage is well provided in terms of utensils + washing \ drier facilities etc.
Highly recommended + was advertised as is.
Situated in a scenic mountain setting, peaceful, private, and secluded, this charming cottage sits on a hillside meadow with forest & mountain views, conveniently located just 6 miles from Yosemite.
