Good beds, own tiny sun-room en suite, near EVERYTHING
In a way I'm standing in for that handy aunt you don't have in Spain - the one in a nice non-touristy town with excellent pavement cafes, and some of the most beautiful bits of Spain in easy reach. My guest room is your base for exploring and if you're a writer, or travelling alone, or both, you are doubly welcome. I'm a writer, most recently from Scotland but originally from South Africa, so Velez is my return to the sun, and more. This unique old townhouse is carefully renovated to keep its traditional features and the fine-tuning will continue for many years. Oh, and I'm the best kind of relative - around when you'd like directions, advice, or to talk about the adventures of the day but otherwise pottering on with my own interests
Elizabeth purchased this Apartment in 2017
Why Elizabeth chose Vélez de Benaudalla
I've travelled a lot myself, sometimes alone, and key for me was affordability, safety, and convenient location ... this odd rambling house had more personality than I've ever seen anywhere. Lovely to live in, big enough to share.
What makes this Apartment unique
It's in a small thriving town so everything is within walking distance, including the bus-stops to Motril and Granada. It's close to beaches while avoiding tourist congestion, minutes from excellent motorways without the noise of traffic, perched on the lip of the Lecrin valley, 15 minutes from Motril for city-sized services.

South of Granada - two short stays in delightful quirky village house
This was our first experience of booking through Home Away. It was very straightforward, and communication with our hostess Elizabeth was first class.
The location is great - right in the centre of the village, and a short stroll to bars, shops, etc. Luggage can be dropped off at the door, and free parking is easily available nearby.
The accommodation was comfortable and clean, and Elizabeth provided an incredible starter pack of food, drink, cleaning materials, etc. Everything you might need in the kitchen was there, as were fans for summer and radiators for winter.
The building is very traditional, with Andalucian nooks, crannies, exposed beams, etc. A couple of terrace areas with comfy chairs are excellent for relaxing with a nightcap or morning cuppa.
Highly recommended for a short stay in this charming village.
A gorgeous and human experience!
The owner was really happy to meet us. We enjoyed her place and recommand it to anybody who is ready for a unique experience.
You were super guests and I'm so glad it all worked out well, for your Alhambra Palace visit and Granada as much as for exploring the playas!
It was over and above what I had expected.
Early morning runs, greeted by the locals and the peaceful ambience created the perfect getaway. The cafe culture an unexpected and delightful bonus.
Return any time, 5* guest!
Velez isn't predominantly a tourist town although the Jardin Nazari is popular and attracts tourist coaches. It is a place to sink into life in a typical friendly Spanish town, or a very convenient base for this particularly attractive part of Spain.
