Few places in Greece, have this kind of view, the tiny picturesque fishing harbour to the left, and then across the straits of Toukmakia to the purple hills of Turkey. Just open the door and walk straight out on to the beach at magical Scala Mystegna. And what a beach it is - the beautiful white pebbles, truly crystal blue waters of the Aegean, without the crowds. These stylish new two storey villa-apartments have a touch of luxury and have been decorated with care. The Kyparissis Beach Houses offer a special kind of seclusion - It's as if the beach is your own.
Testimonials: June/July 06: It can be risky booking a holiday on the internet and may not live up to expectation.
Our stay here has exceeded expectation – the beautiful house, so tastefully and thoughtfully renovated with absolutely everything provided, to a very high standard;
The fantastic position just metres from the sea; the peace and quiet; the friendliness of the locals.
It has been just perfect - Sue and Nikolas Tsoukala - U.K.
12-9 -2006: A wonderful authentically Greek holiday with all the perfect ingredients; beach on the doorstep, solitude if you desire it, and luxury apartment, splendid tavernas to choose from and sheep, goats and even donkeys wandering free. It’s good to live amongst the local people here and be so warmly welcomed by them. We’ll be back for sure - Bryan and Shirley.
Mytilene (the capital of the island): You are also only twenty minutes drive from Mytilene, where is the seaport and Airport is, and a sophisticated city with lots to do, day and night, outstanding sight-seeing, cultural attractions (castles, museums, kafeneon), shopping or night life (hot bars or authentic traditional bouzoukia). From the seaport of Mytilene there are daily boat trips to Turkey.
Thermal springs: Only ten minutes drive from the Kyparissis Beach Houses is Thermi one of the unique locations of thermal springs on the island (open mainly for the summer season). The waters are hot, mineral laden and said to have extensive therapeutic qualities, especially for those suffering from bone or muscle problems.
A slightly more sophisticated thermal bath house (or hamam) is located at Therma, located on the Gulf of Gera (approximately20 minutes by car). Here, not only can you soak away your aches and pains in the thermal pool, but also partake in relaxing therapeutic activities (including mud baths) by a registered masseuse specializing in holistic massage and Reiki, Thai massage and aromatherapy. (open all year round)
The property is accessed directly from the unspoilt pebble beach. The main entrance leads into a spacious open plan living/dinning area, tastefully decorated in a simplistic Hellenic style with a smooth cool stone floor. Double balcony doors open onto a terrace, giving direct access onto the beach. The fireplace takes care of any early/late/ out of season chills and air conditioning cools the summer heat. Adjoining is the Kitchen where all the 21st Century Kitchen conveniences are carefully placed so as not to detract from the overall traditional simplicity of the design. It has everything you require for self catering and more, and that wonderful view of the Aegean just beyond the window sill.
I am Australian even though i feel Greek because I have been here most of my life.
My mother visited Molyvos and met a Greek fisherman and married him. What was so amazing all those years ago what that Giogios (my step father) married a divorced women who had children. Ever seen the Shirley Valentine movie well that was my mother before the movie was even made.
My mother Jenifer married Giogios the Greek fisherman (which he was, just retired) and we moved to Greece in1972 .We have been visiting since 1968.. (Maybe i shouldn’t write dates as this shows my age)
I was brought up in Athens and Molyvos. Molyvos because it was my step fathers village which we all love and spent every holiday here.
I have worked with tourism all my life and feel that what is missing is quality accommodation for people who love Greece and want to experience the real Greek life and stay in self catering houses that are comfortable and affordable.
I am happily married with 3 children, there is much more to the story but if you want more details you will just have to come and visit us.
I feel unique as i know of many Greeks that have gone to Australia and other countries but i don’t know of any Australians that have been brought up in Greece.
Melinda Mcrostie purchased this house in 2002
Kyprassis beach houses are names after my great grand father. My Greek family were brought up here and there are many fond memories which we have been told about
The houses are right on the beach and the fact that you can walk out of your bedroom/ living room directly on to the beach and jump into the sea and this makes these houses rare.
We feel very close to these beach houses as they are something near to our hearts.
Waking up in the morning to a beautiful day with the soft sound of waves. The relaxing view. Spending the day swimming and unwinding watching the small fishing boats. Evening sunset across the bay. Lying in bed at night and falling asleep to the calming swish of waves.
WOW, what an amazing break!!
We have never been able to relax completely on holiday due to having young twins and this place changed all of this for us.
The beautiful setting away from the roads allowed us to let the children explore more, the house is right on the beach with shallow waters enabling us to sit a relax and take in the sights!
The locals are so friendly and kind and will do anything to help you, we even recieved a basket of fresh fruit for the children on one evening!
The house is fantastically equipped to a very high standard and really does make you feel spoilt, it really felt like home from home. Whether you wish to eat in the beautiful Tavernas which are a few minutes walk away of cook at home the choice really is yours.
This is the ideal place for all, families, couples, anyone looking for that perfect escape.
We will be returing again!
We spent 2 weeks in May 2013 at beach house no. 2 together with our 8 and 12 year old kids. The house was really charming, quiet, clean and fully equipped. The beach has more small pebbles than sand but for a nice swim in the sea it was perfect. We did a nice walk to the cliff at the northern end of the bay. You definitely need a car here! Depending on what you plan to see you have to drive a while - not surprising if you take a look at the map.
As it was already dark when we arrived, the house was a little bit difficult to find - so arrive in dailight, if you can manage.
The owners where very helpful and were always reachable by phone. A nearby living lady cleaned the appartment regulary.
This is not a spot for night life - but we enjoyed sitting at the seaside in the small bar nearby together with the locals.
We spend a excellent holiday close to the beach, quiet, charming house , helpfull owner
Small shop near the house, near the harbour with restaurant and bar
If you want to visit the island, you Will need a care
Swimming In the morning, evening... Refreshing
We have spent lovely two weeks in the Kyparissis Beach house.
What a magical place!
Clear, beautiful sea, the pretty beach where you can relax, have sunbathing and enjoy the scenery - all of it just a few steps from the house!
Location is perfect if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful area.
The house is clean, nice furnished and well-equiped. The owners are really pleasant and helpful.
Traditional food in tavernas nearby was stunning. We felt safe and found the local people very friendly.
It was our first time in Greece and we recommend Lesvos totally. We will come back there for sure.
These seaside cottages are in a stunning location - a yard from the sea. Our house was very well appointed and although we were only two people the place could actually comfortably have slept six.. Everything we needed was included; washer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, a decent cooker,tv, dvd, cuttlery, crockery etc. The house is clean and well-maintained, and everything works. We had one very cold day and we were delighted to find that our beds even had electric blankets! We had lots of visiting (but not over-importunate ) cats and a family of swallows in our porch. Melinda answered all our questions and was willing to help with car hire etc. Kyparissis Bay is small andl very friendly and we enjoyed the nearby restaurants. They are considerably more expensive than eating places in Mytilene, but the food is traditional and authentic -frequently the home-cooking of the proprietors, since we were there out of season, and we were so spoiled, that we were deeply disappointed by food on our visits into town. We have already recommended the property to all our friends. You need a car to get there, but be warned - thats all you'll use it for!
We has a fabulous time at this house the sea was right at our door step, where we spent many hours just reading the house was so comfortable with everything we needed, It was just heaven peaceful, the tavernas which were just a small walk away served lovely food reasonably priced. I also had my hair cut by a local hairdresser one of the best cuts ever haha. We have been to many places but this was cetainly one of the best for peace and tranquility and a view which was breath taking. The locals were lovely too . we will be back !!
This idyllic holiday destination is perfect for those seeking peace and seclusion, or 'to get away from it all'. Even in high season the beach remains low key and sparsely populated. there are three tavernas and one cafenion close by, (at least one of these establishments is guaranteed to be open year around).
Scala Mystegna is in a perfect position for those wanting to see the island
