Just a quick note to thank you for fitting us in last weekend at Quai Peree Apartment.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thought the apartment was great ,well equipped and in agood position to explore St Valery. We hope to be able to visit again later this year or maybe next.
super location and generally excellent condition
spiral stairs difficult and beds could do with softer mattresses
We just spent a wonderful weekend at this apartment. Location is fabulous and the apartment itself is quirky but very comfortable. We will definitely be back!
All main rooms face the bay. No outside space but great views from all rooms. Big main bedroom with good bed, decent upstairs shower and loo. Large bathroom on middle floor. Both sets of stairs were a bit steep and shallow. Clean and well decorated. Very well equipped kitchen, good cooker. Comfy sofa, armchair and fold out sofa/bed. Large new TV, 3 stereo systems. Good weather so did not use heating. Very handy for lots of good restaurants, shops. Some good restaurants in old town - 10 mins walk., worth exploring back streets. A lot of shops/restaurants closed on Monday. A bit of traffic noise at times.Free WiFi signal available from Office de Tourisme during office hours.St Valery streets are all pay parking but there is a free car park in the centre near the school - a long drive via the one way system, but just a short walk up the alleyway and up the hill. On street parking available for 25 Euros a week.
Le Crotoy, Berck, Marins-les-Bains, Abbeville, Amiens, abbey and garden at Valloirres all worth a visit visit. Loads of birds and some seals near high tide, many seals at Berck-Plage. Misty sunrises over the Somme are magic in the morning when going out to fetch bead. Views from property very good and from viewpoints are stunning. Very enjoyable and comfortable place to stay. Helpful accurate info from agency. Carrefour and Intermarche supermarkets are a medium walk or short drive.
The Quai Peree apartment has to be one of the best locations in St Valery if you enjoy being in the centre of a lively french town. St Valery can become very busy during the day but it takes on a different quality when the sun goes down. The views from the property are excellent and allow you to enjoy the ever changing vista of the Baie de Somme.
The property is very clean and tastefully decorated with good quality double glazing fitted which allows lots of natural light into the property when the sun shines :0).
The spacious kitchen/dining area is equipped with all of the facilities to allow you to produce a meal if you are happy to cook. Alternatively there are a number of good restaurants within 5 minutes walk from the property to allow you to sample french cuisine.
The well appointed lounge has comfortable sofa seating with a small TV and a CD player, and I have left a copy of a french accordion CD to add to the atmosphere of being in france if so desired.
There is a good size bathroom with a bath basin and toilet.
The master bedroom is very spacious with a king size bed with an adjacent bathroom, whilst the other bedroom contains 2 single beds. A large open clothes hanging area is located on the landing.
Parking adjacent to the apartment is available on metered spaces, but if you are prepared to walk you can park for free in the car park just off the Rue Saint Pierre near the college.
There are a number of weekly local markets in this region with the Saint Valery market being held on Sunday morning where you can purchase a variety of french produce.
We have been visiting St Valery Sur Somme for the last 7 years and still look forward to our next visit with anticipation, especially since we have found this property.
St. Valery is an ideal holiday base for visiting the many places of interest which are within easy reach of the town.
St. Valery was the point from which William the Conqueror set sail for England and is still a traditional fishing port which also provides a fine Sunday market for local produce.
A narrow gauge steam railway operates across the salt marshes to Le Crotoy.
The town is within easy reach of the sandy beaches along the Cote d'Opal coast as well as places of interest inland.
