This house, the location, and the owners are amazing!
The house is immaculate. Whether it is the open floor plan that is great for gathering with friends and family, the amazingly huge screened porch, or the high end linens, this place is incredible. The owners have thought of everything- even ice packs in the freezer to put in coolers! Not only is it appointed with high end finishes it has a great stylish decor as well.
The location is a brief stroll up the hill to beach access. When you get to the beach access it is a large deck at the top of the due with tables, Adirondack chairs, and even a grill. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck with our feet up, soaking up the warm September sun with a glass wine.
Dawn, the owner, was super responsive, flexible, available and helpful. Any questions or needs we had she responded to quickly and affirmatively.
4 of our 6 guests were from out of state (3 from Boston and 1 from Brooklyn), who had never spent anytime on Lake Michigan. They were amazed by its beauty, the beautiful home, and the September weather. One guest even ran down the stairs to the beach just to get a drink of the salt-free water- said he need to cross it off his bucket list! They were completely won over by the "third coast." Thank you Dawn for helping us show our friends what a beautiful, friendly place we live in!
The place was fine with some minor problems (a broken door that won't lock). The unfortunate part came when the owner sent a vague note that part of the security deposit was being withheld for "additional cleaning." We were surprised because we left the place clean.
She did not provide any further information in the note about the cleaning and did not respond to email requests for clarification.
When I called she listed some "sand piles." I reminded her that she cannot deduct for regular cleaning (because the law prohibits that) but only for damage; she only then "remembered" that there was supposed damage to walls and to the refrigerator. None of which were real.
It is unfortunate that she feels she can charge a cleaning feet that is not in the contract and illegally deduct it from the security deposit. It is more unfortunate that she is willing to commit fraud to achieve that goal.
We just spent our 5th week in the Grand Haven area since 2008. This is the 5th different house, and in our opinion, the best value. We liked it so much, that it is the only one that we-rebooked the day we left. Dawn is delightful and very attentive and helpful. The house has a well-stocked kitchen and every amenity necessary for a comfortable stay. The best thing about it - the screened in porch in the trees is delightful. One can spend hours there reading or relaxing ( or playing bagpipes!). The golf cart is very nice to rent and a lot of fun for getting around. And the big lake is just a short walk to a deck over-looking the water and the beach down several steps. Sunsets on the deck were glorious. The bike trails and blueberry picking at Carini's are favorite activities, too. There is plenty to do, or if in the mood, to "not do". It sleeps 8 very comfortably. It can be a bit tricky the first time in getting there, winding around some of the Valley streets to Trillium, but once done, is easy to remember.

My husband, myself, our two toddlers and my parents stayed at Trillium for a lovely relaxing week. The house is exactly as shown in the pictures and very comfortable. It is a short walk down to the deck to look out over the lake, and then quite a few steps down to the beach - so good exercise in the morning for the family! The house is very peaceful and it's lovely looking out into the trees from the screened porch without having to worry about bugs. It's a short drive (15 - 20 min) into nearby Holland or Grand Haven, and we enjoyed visiting the State Parks at both places and the Windmill farm in Holland. Such a pretty and relaxing area, and a wonderful spot for a quiet family holiday!
Where do I begin? My family (6 adults/2 toddlers) stayed at Trillium last week for a long weekend vacation and much needed getaway. My whole family LOVED everything about Trillium. The house was beautifully kept, stocked with anything you'd want, and slept all of us very comfortably. It is safe to say that it was a relaxing vacation that we did not want to end. The beach is only a few minutes away (walking) and the views were breathtakingly gorgeous. We went to Holland downtown for one meal, but the rest of the time we cooked at the house and enjoyed a peaceful time. We used the fire pit which my nephew LOVED. Bathrooms were beautiful and so was the kitchen. The pictures just don't do it justice!! Dawn was so quick to respond to my frequent messages and was also so kind and friendly. We hope to make this an annual family trip! Thank you Dawn & Trillium for giving us an amazing place to start our family tradition. Would we recommend this to others? ABSOLUTELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT! :)
We rented again from Dawn this summer. This is the 2nd straight year we have rented this same house after trying a few others in South Haven in previous years. It is exactly what we wanted in a vacation home. The living area is spotless and all the amenities are taken care of here. We have two teenage boys and the lower living area was great for them. The wifi works flawlessly. Definitely rent the golf cart. It makes getting to and from the beach a breeze and is fun to just drive around the neighborhood. The hills of this secluded sub-division are perfect for exercise too. We went to Grand Haven (short drive away) and rented standup paddleboards, walked the boardwalk, and went to a concert (worship on the waterfront).
Dawn truly goes above and beyond with service. She is always available by phone and she will make sure to help you out with any issues that may arise. She knows the area so well. It definitely beats going through a property management company. We accidently left a few items behind and didn't even realize it and she packaged them up and shipped them to us the next week.
