We love the outdoors and traveling and have always dreamed of having a log cabin in the woods. Lee loves to hunt and Celesta loves gardening and flowers.
Celesta Gingerich purchased this cabin in 2011
The rolling hills of Morgan County are so beautiful and we found this property that has a mixture of woods and pasture. It is away from so much of the commercialized vacation areas, and yet not too far to still enjoy some of the attractions that go with having a good time. The locals are friendly and we have enjoyed getting to know the neighbors and their cultures and life perspectives.
We love to stay at the cabin just to get away from the daily grind and then in hunting season, there are lots of deer to chase!
We are pet friendly. Please let us know you are bringing pets. There is a $25 charge per pet for the duration of the stay.
Love this place!! It's so peaceful and beautiful...perfect for some time away from the stress of life. The cozy log cabin has great atmosphere and amenities. We especially liked the roomy bathroom and comfortable family room furniture. There's lots of woods and meadows to roam. The creek is lovely and well worth the effort it takes to get there. The place is full of wildlife...deer...singing birds...soaring hawks...and lots of wildflowers for picking. The peach cobbler from the Amish farm is highly recommended!
Our family decided to take a last-minute get away for Thanksgiving this year. The cabin fit the bill perfectly. Immaculately clean, homey, and a beautiful setting. We hiked both days, played games, and watched the Chicago Thanksgiving Day parade live-streamed on our laptop. We never watch TV, so this and holiday movie watching on very comfortable furniture was a special treat for our 3-year old daughter. Celesta answered all of our questions and was very helpful. I particularly enjoyed the early, early mornings on the porch with a cup of coffee. All I could hear was the occasional lowing from cows at the Amish farm down the road. It's a perfect place to unplug and get away. We absolutely would go back and recommend it to others.
ps -- We aren't hunters, but this is a great spot if you are. We saw at least 3 permanent tree stands and several food plots. And I saw a HUGE buck. Also, the nearest option for extensive grocery shopping is about 30 miles. We knew this and came well prepared -- and for items we forgot, well ... we got creative with recipes. It was part of the charm!
The cabin was very nice. It is nice and quiet and the stars are amazing. It was a real nice stay but there were wasp at the end of the porch but we kept our distance and had no problems with them. Other than that it was a perfect night.
We had such a nice time at the cabin!! Beautiful place. So peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was very clean, and modern , plenty of room. We would stay again for sure!!!! Thanks for such a nice and enjoyable weekend in your cabin

The cabin was excellent! Just as described and very clean. Enjoyed the property and hiking the trails. Would definitely book another stay at this location. The owners were excellent to work with. We didn't have to call them for anything while being there. However, if we would have had to I know they would have taken care of any issue we would of had immediately. Plenty of things to do in the area if your into outdoor type of activities and most are 30 minutes away from the cabin. We will definitely return visit in the future.....
Not sure where to start - we loved this cabin! We only stayed for one night as we were just passing through on our way to visit family in West Virginia, but this spot will definitely be on our list and recommended to friends & family who enjoy the outdoors.
First, the place is extremely clean and well taken care of. Everything seemed quite new as well. The owner seems to keep it stocked with the essentials - laundry supplies, soap and toiletries (hotel size), and coffee and popcorn which were nice homey touches for us road-weary travelers.
The view is fantastic. You can sit out on the back porch for hours and watch and listen to the wildlife and the scenery. We sipped some Kentucky bourbon at the table and watched the sunset, then did some stargazing. Our dog also loved being out on the porch and leash-free; she was happy to lay out there just watching and sniffing.
The furnishings were clean and comfortable and the cabin has everything you'd need for a family getaway. There looked to be two cabins on the property - you can see the other cabin, but it's quite a distance away so no need to worry about noise or privacy. The cabins themselves are situated in a very very small and quiet town in Amish country.
Love this place - if you're an outdoorsman/woman or just a family looking to get away from it all, we highly recommend!
We had an overall good time. The cabin was well maintained. The owners were very hospitable and the views and property were absolutely gorgeous! I would definitely recommend!

32 acres of private property to hike. Wolf Creek runs along the west edge of the property. Lots of trees, birds, wild flowers, wildlife, and open pasture.
Groceries, pizza, subs, gas, etc. available in Chesterhill.
There is hiking on our property, which is 32 acres. We have trails through the woods and pastures, and a steep trail that goes down to Wolf Creek, which is our property line. Gifford State Park is only 7 miles south of our cabin, and has hiking trails. I was told there is a cave, but we have never gone there.
Numerous covered bridges cover southeastern Ohio. There is a map at the cabin with locations marked. One of them is about 2 miles from the cabin.
Wolf Creek Wildlife Area has several stocked fishing ponds, about 20 minutes from Antler Ridge. Locals tell us they have great bass and channel catfish.
Burr Oak State Park Lodge has lots of trails, and is 30 minutes away, with a scenic drive through the rolling hills to get there. There is Burr Oak Marina about 5 miles from the Burr Oak Lodge that rents pontoons, boats, canoes and kayaks.
We enjoy the quaint town of McConnelsville (20 minutes), with its 'small town' feel and lots of little shops to browse. Twin City Opera House has movies on weekends, and schedules concerts on the 3rd Sat. of each month.
Stockport Mill Inn and Restaurant (7 miles from Antler Ridge) is a restored mill right on the dam on Muskingum River. You can tour the 4 floors of charming rooms and sitting areas and the power turbine that used to grind the feed when the mill was in business. Unique, with great meals on weekends only.
The Wilds is about 40 minutes away, and very worthwhile, with wildlife tours, etc. They even have a Zipline now. You can Google many of these places before you decide.
Athens (30 minutes) is home to Ohio University, with lots of restaurants, parks, bike rentals, etc.
Marietta is about 40 minutes, right on the Ohio River.
Our cabin is not in the commercial area of Hocking Hills; we are about an hour from there. Our area is quiet, beautiful, and away from all the glamour. It is not for everyone, but we don’t know of any guests that have been disappointed.
Morgan County has a website with lots of info on things to do and see.
