About Heather Douglas
We have lived in this little coastal town for 13 years now and are excited at the opportunity to share it with others. I am a nurse at our small community hospital and my husband is a wildlife biologist. We have 2 kids and a dog (Kona) who we named our cabin after. Our family enjoys exploring the coast, hiking, biking, as well as attending many of our unique community events. The world's largest salmon barbecue in July and the Ugly dog contest during Labor Day weekend are some of our favorites.
Heather Douglas purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Heather Douglas chose Fort Bragg
We fell in love with this property because of the close proximity to town, but "in the middle of nowhere" feel it has. It is set at the end of the road and feels like you are in a forest. It has the feel of a campground but offers the comforts of home just inside the door. Our kids have loved exploring the property and beyond in Jackson Demonstration State Park since we purchased it. In the fall we collected baskets of wild mushrooms and in the spring discovered wildflowers popping up everywhere.

Perfect place to rest and relax
Cabin was perfect for the two of us. Quiet location but easy access to everything that Fort Bragg/Mendocino has to offer.
Peaceful home surrounded by woods
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Kona House. It was peaceful, relaxing, and close to special places along the Mendocino coastline.
A Wonderful Getaway
This cabin was perfect for exploring the Pacific North Coast. Located in Fort Bragg it is close to many parks and coastal viewing areas. We were also able to go on a fishing charter located at the nearby marina. The cabin itself was clean and spacious. The kitchen was fully equipped and had all we needed. It was so quiet there and we loved the redwood tree right outside our window. It was a wonderful trip.
Great lil place
Cozy, close to everything, great owners!
The Kona Cabin was even better than we had anticipated. So secluded but close to town. The interior is cozy and we had a fantastic time. We have stayed in many VRBOs and this one by far is our favorite!!
Fort Bragg Redwoods
Great location - lots of outdoor green space and privacy, and very easy access. Every window had a view of a Redwood tree and surrounding forest. Owners left a great welcome goodie basket, which made it more a B&B type experience. Fort Bragg was 5 minutes away, with a great downtown for walking around and lots of restaurants to choose from - especially enjoyed Noyo harbor ambiance and views.
Visit the new coastal walking trail at Glass beach with awesome views of the rocky coastline or explore the beach for treasures discarded years ago now transformed into beautiful sea glass. Learn about the history of the prior logging town which used what is now Glass Beach as the town dump. For more history you can ride the historic Skunk Train which makes trips inland among the redwoods and back. A short drive to Anderson Valley offers a friendly wine tasting region with award winning boutique wineries that specialize in pinot noir and Gewürztraminer.
