About Heather Douglas
We have lived in this little coastal town for 13 years now and are excited at the opportunity to share it with others. I am a nurse at our small community hospital and my husband is a wildlife biologist. We have 2 kids and a dog (Kona) who we named our cabin after. Our family enjoys exploring the coast, hiking, biking, as well as attending many of our unique community events. The world's largest salmon barbecue in July and the Ugly dog contest during Labor Day weekend are some of our favorites.
Heather Douglas purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Heather Douglas chose Fort Bragg
We fell in love with this property because of the close proximity to town, but "in the middle of nowhere" feel it has. It is set at the end of the road and feels like you are in a forest. It has the feel of a campground but offers the comforts of home just inside the door. Our kids have loved exploring the property and beyond in Jackson Demonstration State Park since we purchased it. In the fall we collected baskets of wild mushrooms and in the spring discovered wildflowers popping up everywhere.

Beautiful setting, up to date appliances. Came from Indiana to go hiking, this is a perfect place to visit near by parks and just minutes from the ocean. Hosts answered all of our questions and gave us information on things to see and places to eat. Would rent from them again..... no worries!!! Steve Marcotte
Lovely stay in the woods!
Peace and quiet of the cabin was just perfect for the 2 of us and our large labradoodle! We enjoyed tromping through the back trails right out the door, for 8 miles; had a great visit to Pt. Cabrillo Lighthouse; lovely homebaked goods at the Wednesday farmers market in Ft Bragg; talked with the locals at Noyo Marine Mammal Center and on the bluff walk; Botanical Gardens were wild and walkable; Princess Seafood in Noyo Harbor and Cafe Mendocino (in Mendocino) for great food, with outdoor seating for us and the dog. Loved the cabin and all the homey touches, very comfy and cozy, incl gorgeous bouquet to greet us! Perfect relaxing vacay!
Perfect little cabin in the woods!
My two daughters and I stayed 3 nights here. It was the perfect size for the 3 of us. Cabin is incredibly clean and well decorated. There's a pellet stove that keeps the place toasty, and it was so nice sitting by the fire every night. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals (next time I won't bring extra). The owners left a thank you note and a bottle of local wine and some mints. 3 minutes from Fort Bragg. A few minutes from great hiking in Jackson State Forest. This place is perfectly located and had everything we needed and more. Exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!
Zoey loved Kona's house
Zoey (my dog) and I thouroughly enjoyed our 3 days at Kona's house. The quiet was great , the forest was great and by and large the weather was great. Loved the botanical gardens and State parks
Birthday get away
Had a great stay, what a beautiful setting in the woods. Can’t wait to return in September.
Tucked away in the giant trees.
We enjoyed our month here. The cabin is simple, but has everything. Not fancy, but exactly what we like. The quiet and the redwoods were a wonderful surprise. Jackson State Forest is right out the door. Great for dog walking. We mostly had it to ourselves. Heather and Robert are very friendly and helpful. Our first trip to this part of the world. Good scenery, seafood restaurants and brewpubs. That works for us.
No whale sightings, but a few spouts in the distance one day.
The coastline is amazingly rugged and picturesque. We were there in a really rainy season, but yet always managed to see what we wanted to see during lulls in the showers. We got a few sunny days. We were really happy to find this place.
Thanks to Heather and Robert.
