A stone pathway swings around from the southern end of the patio and leads across the lawn to the private 'Hot Springs Spa' with redwood deck and built-in benches. Expanded Cable/Internet 'Wireless", 2 small tv's in each bedroom and 1 large 42 inch plasma tv in living room.

Alex purchased this cottage in 2004
Location, location, location, "Totally Remodeled in 04", three beautiful beaches that are walking distance and a world class surfing wave Hammond's Reef. As well as a block to quaint shops, stores and restaurants. Made this an easy decision for anyone to buy in this area.
The new fully remodeled layout has the kitchen facing south to the side yard garden. Making the sun and moon rising quite the visual experience. Also when both front and back doors are ajar, a really nice breeze flows through the house. Fenced side and back yards are beautifully landscaped through out as well. The redwood deck and "Hot Springs" Hot Tub are simply "a little slice of heaven".
I am currently in a credit card dispute with this owner over a security deposit not returned to me as per the contract. (VRBO told me to initiate this dispute.) We have been renting VRBO properties happily for many years, but unfortunately dealing with this one has been a terrible experience. I imagine the owner will respond negatively to this review, since he has directly written me an email which is inappropriate and rude, but regardless we would urge prospective renters to also read the other review posted here called "Nice Enough Place, Had Decent Stay, Management Experience Very Poor" -- the renter who wrote that review had an experience with this owner that has many similarities to ours. Renters beware. There are many great properties available to rent in the lovely village of Montecito, but this one has been for us nothing but a headache and a vacation ruiner. I should also mention that this house shares a driveway and is in very close proximity to several other houses, and when we arrived the owner told us if any neighbors asked us any questions that we should tell them we were his "friends." That made us uncomfortable -- we prefer to always rent properties that are known by all to be legitimate rentals.
We were looking for a weekend getaway and found this "gem" of a cottage. We could not have been happier or luckier as it is so tranquil and serene. The weather was perfectly mild to boot, The train runs by, as it does in most beach towns but this only reminded us of being in a European countryside which was music to our ears.
The landlord was gracious, suggestive and charming. All he promised about his home was more than true. He was kind enough to leave information about places nearby that we may enjoy but his home was enough and all we needed. We will definitely return and without a doubt recommend to all...Enjoy your stay!!!
I just want to keep this gem all to myself...This property is wonderful. It is clean and well maintained. The location is perfect a short walk to downtown or a short walk to the beach. We hardly ever had to take out the car. Not only is this property wonderful the owner himself spent time showing us around and is very kind and you can tell cares about his property. The train is no big deal at all. This is truly a gem in Montecito and we will be returning to this cottage! I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to experience a dream vacation in Montecito! Thanks Alex for letting us experience a slice of heaven in Montecito. Heather
Nice little complex
Good access to Village
Great little yard
Jacuzzi worked great
The dogs next door bark 10 to 14 hours per day.
TRAINS. This unit is very close to train noise (Amtrak AND freight trains (triple-decker)). These shake the house. The first one doesn't start until about 6:30 AM to 7 AM and the last one at about 10 PM. If you are even a little bit sensitive to noise/seismic activity, you will want to look elsewhere.
Communication with manager was generally difficult before, during and after our stay.
Manager blamed us for popping the tire of a bike we never used/touched.
Manager shared with us his blame of a broken ice maker on the previous tenet by asking us to take a picture of the model number of the fridge. This forced us to make an exit video to protect ourselves.
We were blamed for a clogged drain (possibly a backed up main sewer line, not sure) we simply didn't create as evidenced by a time-stamped exit video which i (in good conscience) shared with the manager via unlisted Youtube.
Manager threatens legal action when threats are completely unfounded/unnecessary/ridiculous.
My recommendation would be for this manager to find a property manager so things like this don't happen.
Imagine checking out of a room at the hotel of your choice (with visual proof the plumbing is working) and having them call you on the way back complaining that you have flooded the hotel. Oh wait, that would never happen...
This little slice of heaven is well equipped and tastefully decorated. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had all the necessities.
We loved lounging in the patio lounger, the yard is simply beautiful & relaxing. Walking distance to the beach was a big plus! We thoroughly enjoyed.
It was a bit challenging to find the house at first, as we arrived late at night. It would be helpful if there was a light shining on the address. Alex was a dear and very accommodating. He gave surfing tips to my boys which they greatly appreciated. He also allowed them to play with his Guitar & Congo Drums. The livening room offers a spacious layout for enjoying each other company, as do the side and back yards. The boys really enjoyed the train when it came roughly 3-6 times a day and was never an issue. If you live by the beach, you should know it comes with the territory. We will definitely be back!
