Comfortable Home

  • 3 of 5

My family and I stayed over 4th of July week and we enjoyed ourselves. The home is in a great neighborhood- walk-able, friendly neighbors, etc. The home is comfortable and we loved the pool. We would definitely want to stay again.

Pros and cons

  • 2 of 5

Rented for the entire month of January 2017.

Allowed to bring my 40lb boarder collie (had him shaved to keep shedding down)

Great location with plenty of walkable options

Great bright sunroom which became favorite spot

Less stressed about my son or dog ruining things (see cons)

Felt very safe.

New grill.

Pool cleaned weekly.

Great Wifi. We brought our own Roku and streaming was great.

Got security deposit back (I obsessively photographed everything for fear we would be blamed.)

House and furnishings poorly maintained. I am glad I brought extra bedding, which I used to cover the filthy and torn sofa and the peeling reclining chairs. I have never seen anything like it. Also, front doorknob was duck taped together. Seriously.

Carpet, ceiling fans, baskets, under furniture... all covered in dirt, thick dust and pet hair. Had to roll up rug in sunroom and put outside due to bug bites- probably fleas. Then had to get a flea pill for my guy.

Soda sprayed on walls in bedroom. MBR carpet filthy with stains. Mattress stained and starting to dip. No mattress covers.

Kitchen poorly outfitted with warped pans, horrible dishwasher, broken oven handle, dull knives, only plastic glasses, filthy coffee maker. And terrible lighting. Tough space for cooking. I went to Dollar Store and bought glassware, can opener, plastic ware, etc. brought some home, left a few behind. Dirty dishes in dishwasher. Had to rewash everything in cabinets.

Lots of lightbulbs out.

Yard overgrown. Backyard had tons of dog piles, cluttered with debris. I had to pick up and toss trash. Pool skimmer broken. Too small table for dining, but we made do.

Response from owner hit or miss (mostly miss.) No follow through on promise to refund a portion of unused days. No follow through on promise to send housekeeper. No response on notice that heat did not work. Found texting resulted in greater likelyhood of response. No phone calls were ever returned. She did get a guy out when a window in sunroom cracked, but we left before it was repaired.

I could go on and on. We made the best of the circumstances, but left early as the annoyances began to outweigh the enjoyment.

Hopefully, Rain took the extra week from my stay to put the house back to a decent rental. If you can go by and visit you should. But don't trust anything said by the owner, IMO.

Location, Cleanliness and Overall Charm!

  • 5 of 5

This home delivered all our expectations and more. The property is equipped with everything you would need excluding groceries.

My family and I were so comfortable there and the space so inviting that we truly hated to leave. I have stayed at perhaps a dozen rental homes in the past and none has so completely delivered the home away get away experience as this little bungalow ! We look forward to return again soon.

Gorgeous Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

The property manager was very helpful.

The vacation rental was spotless.

I was very happy with the location.

I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.

Reviewer Comments:

Excellent! Extremely well organized and tastefully furnished home in a very quiet neighborhood just a couple blocks walk from the Beach. Highly recommended. Was hesitant because of a couple bad reviews but i called the property manager and I took a look at the property before confirming my stay, let me tell you I've already booked for 2016!

NOT amazing getaway house

  • 1 of 5

Please don't be captivated by the great reviews of this house. All but one are from 2012-2013 and does not reflect the current conditions at all!

FIRST: This house IS NOT handicapped accessible. There aren't any ramps nor wide door ways for wheelchair use.

Second: The house was partially updated in 2013 when the pictures for the ad where taken. We just stayed there for a month while on assignment in area and while the location to the beach and downtown is nice, that is the extent of it. The property manager lives 6 hours away in S. FL and is difficult to get ahold of.

The house was filthy dirty... like frat house dirty... when we arrived (we came early and where notified that the cleaners would be there shortly.) However they never showed that day OR EVER the following days so its a good thing my wife and I went to the store and purchased cleaning supplies and did it ourselves. (We also had to wash all the dirty linens that were piled up as soon we arrived so we had clean sheets for that night.)

The kitchen is sparsely supplied with half broken and worn appliances. 3 drinking glasses and 10 coffee mugs are available. As such we went to store and bought our own.

There isn't hot water in one of the bathrooms.

The AC doesn't work well so it runs all day to keep house at 77 degrees.

The 2 main bedrooms are connected by a small 1950's dated bathroom and the "clothes closet" for those rooms are shared within the broom closet/AC handler area.

ALL of the rugs/carpet are deeply stained and need to be replaced.

The back yard is seriously overgrown and the fabulous grill that you see in the pictures... completely rotted out.. I mean completely.. like there isn't a bottom!

Last but not least the TV cable and internet were turned off during our stay and our young property manager took 11 DAYS to get it turned back on.

I have saved all of the emails to and from Rain and have pictures of damaged/broken/dirty items throughout the house to prove it. Rain Peters may mean well and is pleasant to speak with (when you get her to call you back) however she is a horrible property manager.
