Mountain Bikers and Horsey Folks! Ride straight into Dupont from here!
About Frances Wechsler
The Wechsler Family is from Decatur, GA. Along with our four children we enjoy cycling and horseback riding. We are quite active in the cycling community and have enjoyed hosting many rides in Dupont and along the Blueridge Parkway with friends and family. Several of our friends are professional cyclists who enjoy staying at Trail-Side for training. We are very relaxed and want our guests to enjoy the cabin as much as we do.
Frances Wechsler purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Frances Wechsler chose Hendersonville
In 2013 we went to Brevard to visit our daughter at Camp Eagle's Nest and rented a cabin adjacent to Dupont State Park. We had never visited the area and fell in love with it at once. We were amazed at the beauty of the forest and waterfalls with such easy access to activities we are passionate about.... horses and bikes! . While out biking we came upon Trailside Escape and couldn't resist purchasing it because of its quaint style and incredible location. Tom is an avid biker and I have 2 horses. The location of the house eliminates the travel time of hauling horses and bikes to and from Dupont. We have spent 2 years renovating and preparing the property to share with others. Now we hope that you can enjoy it as much as we do.

Our stay at Trailside Escape
My family loves Trailside Escape!
It’s centrally located between Hendo and Brevard and so close to the trails in DuPont Forest.
We appreciate the big dining table for spreading out and working on puzzles as well as the comfortable couches for lounging. We will be back!
Mountain bike escape
There were a couple hiccups with the stay but the owners were very quick to respond to the issues. Overall it was a great experience I will likely look to book again next time I am up in the area as it is really hard to beat the ease of access to the trails in DuPont as well as Pisgah.
Love this cabin & locayion
Our second stay was just as good as the first. We will be back soon!!
Great house, location, and owners!!
When we arrived late at night, we discovered the cabin had lost its water supply, but Tom and Frances were all over it calling in people to fix it even though it was Christmas. We loved every minute of our stay in spite of that. We used the wood stove to warm the house in the evenings, and the outdoor grill to cook lunch. We loved being able to bring our three dogs with us, and the proximity to horse and bike trails was excellent. Hendersonville is charming and has every amenity. We will definitely be going back!!
The house is very nice, great outdoor setting, very secluded!
So easy to ride at DuPont and Reeb Ranch. There is a trail 100 yard from the house that descends to Reeb! The house is really nice, but not so nice that you can't relax in it.
Perfect for spending time in DuPont
This was a great weekend in a lovely cabin situated very close to DuPont. The cabin was clean and in great shape. Highly recommended.
Walk down the hill to Shoal Creek Stable and go for a horseback ride with Olivia and Kyle at Shoal Creek Farm. If biking is your thing, ride down our path to Dupont State Park and ride all day. Hiking what you like? Less than a mile away is hiking into beautiful waterfalls. Easy enough for the little ones or difficult ones for hiking enthusiast.
