On the west side of Cayuga Lake, this cottage is nestled in the heart of wine country. Our 40+ mile long lake has great fishing and boating as well as many other opportunities to enjoy this beautiful area of the Finger lakes. Ceramic tiled floors downstairs and carpeting upstairs provide comfort. This cottage is only 6 years old and has 98 feet of lakefront, shallow beachfront and ample parking for day guests on the private parking area adjacent to the property. A gradual stone path leads from the road to the house with only a few stairs down to the deck and provide ease of access to the water. This unique setting provides panoramic views of historic Sheldrake and Wyers Point with no neighbors to the south and a cliffside view, thus the name 'Cliffside at Wyers Point.
Living for many years on Otisco Lake we fell in love with the area. When this property became available we couldn't resist. We have had wonderful times and great rental guests and have enjoyed sharing our home with others.
Marjorie DeSantis purchased this house in 2007
We loved the balcony off the master bedroom and we love watching the fish in the water from up above. The sun rises and star gazing are incredible.
On the water with no steep staircases to get down to the water. A gradual footpath leads you to the front door with just a few steps down to the front porch. The south side is without neighbors and is very private. Close to wineries and restaurants, a public boat launch and coffee shop (The Busy Bee) where you can rent kayaks and have gourmet coffee/lattes.
This lakeside cottage was everything we hoped it would be. From the moment we walked through the door, we were impressed with the cleanliness and overall appearance of the house. All of the amenities were as described, even better than we were expecting. The kitchen has anything you will ever need to cook inside or out - and everything was in very good condition. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The interior and exterior were in good shape and obviously well maintained.
Outside of the house there was plenty to do. The fishing dock was great - caught our first fish within 20 minutes of arriving! The firepit was used daily - just a great place to unwind at the end of the day. The swing is a nice touch as well. The weather was unseasonably warm, and we enjoyed plenty of hiking and sight-seeing in nearby towns. The fall foliage was at it's peak and I can't say enough about how beautiful the area is. The wine tasting (IT IS EVERYWHERE!!!) was a blast, and we met so many nice people as we tasted and shopped our way up and down the lakeside.
Also can't say enough about Margie. She was so helpful and friendly. Quick responses to every question and provided all sorts of useful information. The process could not have been easier. I highly recommend Cliffside at Wyers Point if you are looking for a private, relaxing getaway in the Finger Lakes!
This is a lovely spot right on the water's edge. It is well stocked with anything a visitor could ask for. Very comfortable. We'll surely return if we can!
The cottage was clean and well kept. Everything that you needed to make your stay a comfortable one was right on site! There is a wonderful beach and no home on the south side, so a lot of privacy. Plenty of parking up top and easy to access. We'll be staying there again!
Cliffside at Wyers Point was even more fantastic than we knew it would be!! We were two couples returning to our roots in this region, and we had been talking forever about renting a cottage again one day at the lake.
Cliffside turned out to be the perfect cottage for our week back "home"! The sleeping accommodations and 1/2 bath upstairs worked so well. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were spacious. And we had gorgeous views out our windows. The downstairs air-conditioned living area was very spacious; and the kitchen worked really well for all the meals we prepared for ourselves and various old friends who joined us throughout the week for dinners.
We had known we wanted a cottage at lake level, but we also didn't want to have to continually deal with lots of stairs from a parking area. Cliffside fit the bill! The walking path from the spacious parking areas was easy to negotiate with grocery bags and suitcases. And the beach was just 6 steps down from the deck outside the living room door!! What is truly unique about Cliffside is the privacy of the beach/picnic area. We spent the majority of our time out there and never had to worry about bothering neighbors when having our wonderful dinners with friends at the picnic table or during our late nights around the campfire chatting, star-gazing and tracking the many planes that fly over that area coming from/going to places all over the world.
We took many walks to Sheldrake and really enjoyed getting to know that area of the lake. We also enjoyed the Sheldrake Point Winery, breakfast at the Busy Bee Market and shopping at the Big M in Ovid.
Marjorie was fantastic to work with, starting with our very first contact a year ago. We always felt like we were in good, trustworthy hands, and we are ever-so grateful she and her husband are willing to share their little bit of Heaven with others! We hope to return to Cayuga Lake.....and hopefully to Cliffside.....again in 5 years!
We really enjoyed the house and the location, which is right on the water. All amenities were right there for us in and outside of the house. The view from the balcony is truly beautiful. Great location, too, with easy access to local restaurants and wineries. We'll definitely be back!
We just returned from a week at Cliffside and I had trouble sleeping without the sound of the water, lol. The house is a treat to stay at from the private location (neighbors on one side but the deck and beach are on the private side), to the gas grill, to the paddle boat and kayak, to the fully stocked kitchen and comfy beds. The area is surrounded by wineries and state parks with incredible gorges and waterfalls. The lake temperature is a little chilly for those adults who are 'faint of heart' but it doesn't slow down the kids! You won't regret a moment of your stay at Cliffside. Margie does an excellent job of communicating and even left us a gift bag. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again the next time we're in the area.
