This was the first time our Central Pennsylvania family visited Lake Anna. We just heard of it from friends this past winter and the drive was only 3 1/2 hours, so we thought we'd try a new adventure. We would recommend this well-appointed home with its secluded back yard, the warm lake, the fabulous local food, the historic sites, the fun fishing off the clean back yard docks, and the wonderful state park full of great walking trails to anyone we know. What a huge back deck to sit back under the umbrella and drink our morning coffee and watch the deer walk by--not a soul in sight. We couldn't believe we didn't get bit by any bugs the whole week. We took a wonderful guided tour of the lake with Captain Johnny Ellis which we would recommend booking ahead. Monticello was an hour away and well worth the drive. A distillery that sold the "Moonshiner" brew was up the road towards Culpepper. Culpepper's museum and walk through the historic town with quaint shops and restaurants were a must-do. A pretty whacky, fun place to play mini-golf was five or so minutes away. The trip back over Skyline Drive was breathtaking.
The home was very clean and had everything we needed--we just had to bring our towels and toiletries which was no big deal. Between the two kitchens, there wasn't anything we found missing, and we are grillers and cookers. All-in-all, we would chalk this vacation up as a must-do-again someday. Thanks, Juli, for being a phone call away to answer any of our questions.
This was the 2nd year in a row that we rented this house. We are a group of 8 professionals that all work different jobs in the DC area and this house was the perfect weekend getaway for us all. With the activities in the basement, the dock access about 150 feet from the back door, large deck area for BBQ's, this house met all of our needs and we all had our own private space wen we needed it. We will definitely continue to rent this house as our yearly get away.
My family and I were looking for a nice place to meet for Holiday dinner and to celebrate my husband and my thirty sixth year anniversary. Truthfully, it was a great experience. We found this beautiful home to be most comfortable with enough space for everyone to spread out and really relax the whole time. The three grand kids (ages 7 to 17) really enjoyed themselves as well with all kinds of board games and movies. Juli is a sweetheart and was most helpful. I will recommend this property to anyone during any season; nice, beautiful and quiet.
Awesome trip! We were looking for a house for the week after a family reunion to just relax. Juli was very accomadating and the house was decorated and layed out with taste. Teenagers had a ball with the downstairs area, pool table, deck, t.v. and close to the lake.
Easy access to local attractions including Lake Anna State Park w/hiking trails and sandy beach at the waters edge. Multiple golf courses including Meadow Farms and Locust Grove and Tanyard in Louisa. One hour to kings Dominion Theme Park, James Madison Museum, Montpelier, other historic sites as well as local wineries. Even an awesome new restaurant on the waters of Lake Anna where you can drive up by boat/or car.
