Gorgeous Bay View & Sunrise/Sunsets from Your Private, Sunny Deck!

Bedrooms 1
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Relax on your private deck with beautiful views of San Diego Bay, the downtown skyline, Coronado Island, and the nearby mountains. Where else can you have lovely sunrises and watch the sunset reflected off the skyline from the same deck chair? And YES, all the view photos shown in our listing are taken from our (your) patio deck! Parking is spacious, easy, and free, usually right in front!

Did you know that our part of San Diego (Point Loma) was recently determined to be #3 on the 10 Coolest Neighborhoods in America? See

Our home is located less than 10 minutes from the airport, Shelter Island, Harbor Island, downtown, and walking distance to restaurants, shops, yoga, and the bay. Watch the fighter jets take off from North Island and frequent sail boat races. You can see the hills of Balboa Park where the San Diego Zoo is located. Sea World is 15 minutes around the corner. The border is 25 minutes to the south. The lights in Mexico are visible at night from your deck! Walk over to buy fresh fish from Point Loma Seafood, pick up a bottle of wine from The Grape Connections on your way by and stop at the bakery for some dessert or fresh bread for the morning. Or skip all that and enjoy one of HarborTown's 17 beers on tap.

Your cozy apartment with private entrance and private deck includes everything you'll need for making your San Diego vacation a most memorable experience. The kitchenette is newly remodeled and the queen bed is very comfortable. We think you will be most comfortable with two people but please inquire if you have need for a 3rd guest. Parking is excellent.

Your hosts, Toni and Dave, live just above and will be on hand, when needed, to answer any questions and provide recommendations for the many activities and sights San Diego has to offer. When we are home we're pretty quiet so you will hardly know we're here. You're likely to see more of our cat than us! If you want to take it easy and save money, don't rent a car and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There is a path along the water that is very nice at night. We often walk down there. Overall, we think we have the best value in all of Pt Loma. Please read through our reviews to see what those who visit with us are saying.

*** RECENT UPDATE. As we travel more, we are also open to renting the main part of our home, 2 bedrooms, located above the apartment with the same, great views, plus a private deck and garden area in the back, and more. Please let us know if you are interested, especially if the time you wish to visit shows unavailable. ***

**** Discounts for bookings within 2 weeks of arrival - contact us for details ****

Lastly, if you have ever considered vacationing in Costa Rica, please ask us about that and also see our beautiful vacation rental there. vrbo #651712

About Dave and Toni

We met on Dave's birthday (which is New Year's Eve) in 2007 and found we both enjoyed traveling, working in our garden, having friends over to our home, and especially being together. In 2010 we became engaged and in 2011 we bought our home in Point Loma. We were happily married in August 2014.

When we first stood on the deck and looked out at the same view you will have, we knew this was the home we wanted. We've spent the first year remodeling and making both our living area and the apartment into a warm, inviting, comfortable place to live and share with the many new VRBO friends who will be coming to vacation with us.

We've traveled to a number of wonderful destinations and we often use VRBO to find a place to stay rather than the sterile confines of a hotel. Everyone we've met has been very gracious and friendly, and that is what you can expect from us.

Toni has retired and is usually available for questions. When we are home we're pretty quiet so you will hardly know we're here. You're likely to see more of our cat than us!

Dave and Toni purchased this apartment in 2011

Absolutely loved it. Location, views and hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved everything about our stay here. Dave and Toni (owners) are 2 of the nicest most genuine people I have met.

The location and views are second to none. Watching the sunrise come up from behind the San Diego skyline and over the harbor was worth getting up for every morning.

It seemed like we were only a few miles from everything we were doing. Location and ease of finding the rental made it easy for coming and going.

We also jogged every morning with the harbor being just a short distance away it was the perfect place to run along the water and view the boats in the harbor. Bikes were also available that we used once and loved the ride down around the water.

Thank You Dave and Toni for all your hospitality, taking LR to yoga and having us up for a visit, loved everything about our stay. If you will have us again we will be back, Thank You!

Highly recommend this rental!

  • 5 of 5

This property was charming, and in a great location. The listing is accurate, and it was clean and ready for my stay. The owner was accommodating with respect to check-in, and the place was quiet and comfortable. It had everything I needed, was conveniently located, and had the most wonderful porch and view! I would love to stay again and would definitely recommend it to others.

Couldn't have found a better value in S.D.. We selected Dave and Toni's place because it was close to the beach, safe, and a close walk to the Point Loma community. We traveled with our teenage daughter (13) and her friend so security was important. Dave and Toni went out of their way to welcome us to Point Loma. The front patio offered a great view of San Diego and a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine. Overall the neighborhood was quiet and it is a quick walk to morning coffee, Point Loma Seafood, Mitches, or the many places to enjoy along the water. We highly recommend Dave and Toni's place and we hope to stay again in the near future. Cheers.

Owner's Response: Michael, thanks for the prompt and lovely review. It was a please meeting your family and were glad we could accommodate your daughter's friend as well. I'm sure that made it nicer for her to have someone along her own age! Next time they can try paddleboarding! See you again, we're sure. Dave & TOni

Pleasant place to stay

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed nearly a week in this little apartment. The unit is above the garage and below the main living quarters of the hosts who were friendly and welcoming. At times you will hear the hosts above, but you will also hear some traffic and the sound of airplanes. Being slightly uphill, from the patio and French doors one can get a view of the San Diego skyline between houses with a slice of the bay also visible. The lighted Coronado bridge is easily visible at night. The nearby neighbors used street parking, but finding a place to park was never a problem.

While San Diego was experiencing slightly cooler temperatures, the chimenea on the comfortable brick patio made the evenings cozy outdoors. The small apartment provided the necessities for two people. It would have been tight with three - especially when eating at the tiny cafe table indoors. The bedroom is built back into the hill with a side window for lighting. The bathroom is adequate. I found the uneven bathroom floor a bit uncomfortable underfoot. (Two different thicknesses of tile alternate creating recesses in the floor. It is visually interesting, but unconventional.)

The place was tidy and relatively clean, but it could use a deep-cleaning to remove accumulated grime in the nooks and crannies. A white love seat understandably showed signs of use. There were some carpet and blanket stains. The deep bedroom window sill had not been cleaned in a very long time. Dirt has accumulated in the corners along the baseboard especially behind the bathroom door. That said, I did NOT have to clean before using the place as I've sometimes had to do elsewhere.

The location worked well for us. There are numerous restaurants nearby. We appreciated the proximity to the bay - to walk along the beach and explore the boats at dock. One nice day we walked to the Maritime Museum and back to thoroughly enjoy the waterfront. If I were planning another trip to San Diego, I would consider staying here again.

Owner's Response: Hi Becky, thanks for taking time to write such a thorough review. We're glad you enjoyed your time here and that our location worked well for the things you liked doing. You did catch us at the tail end of many back to back stays, including someone who was here for a month so our periodic deep clean was overdue. And we would have been mortified if you felt it cleaning when you arrived! We do hope you will return as we have some changes coming that I think you will enjoy! Dave & Toni
