Overview

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, 16 Sleeps

Located 15 miles from PawPaw, Mi, this 4000 sq. ft. home was newly-built as our personal getaway haven, but sharing our beautiful home with you will help fund our children's Christian College tuition.

Just 2 1/2 hours from Chicago, this beautiful getaway vacation home has 80 ft of lake frontage on the 60 acre spring fed Hemlock Lake, that is one of the best fishing lakes around.

Although a smaller lake, if you have a small speedboat, you can do some tubing, skiing or kneeboarding or just enjoy a trip around the lake on one of the provided kayaks or paddleboat.

Don't forget your fishing tackle to catch some blue gill, sunfish or crappie.

With a sandy beach that extends 40 ft from shore to a gradual decline at the end of the dock, it is the PERFECT spot for young children to enjoy a swim or build sand castles.

The large yard has ample space for a game of bean bag toss, croquet or badmitton or enjoy an afternoon nap in one of our comfortable hammocks.

A campfire (wood provided) will make for a great ending to your fun-filled days. This beautiful home is equipped with everything needed for a memorable family vacation.

This is not just a rental, it is a home away from home. Living nearby we are easily accessible if you need anything.

Don't forget the golf clubs for the nearby courses.

Note: Please take into consideration the size of the lake when considering bringing a speedboat. The lake best accomadates small speed boats, fishing boats, pontoons and jetskis. Guest may only bring one motorized boat or jetski. The boat launch is quite shallow, so to launch a boat, a 4-wheel drive high clearance vehicle is recommended. Owners will not be responsible for launching or removing boats from lake.

Note: This rental is for family vacations, it is not a party house. We expect guests to treat house, furnishings and property with respect.

No smoking in the house.

Alcohol usage results in many boating accidents yearly so please drink responsibly. If neighbors complain of roudiness due to drunkenness, you will also forfeit the remainder of your stay.

ABSOLUTELY NO PETS. Owners are severely allergic.

Looking for a quiet fall weekend get-away or a place for a women's or men's retreat, this is the spot.

Decorated for Christmas the month of December. This would make a great place for your family Christmas gathering.

Thinking about a winter get-away, this would make a great destination with Swiss Valley Ski resort only 20 minutes away.

About Cindy Blodgett

My husband has been a home builder for over 30 years and built this beautiful vacation home for ourselves,to have a place large enough for our 10 children to come home to with their own families, but the recession hitting construction business a few years ago and at the time we still had 7 children still at home to support along with college tuition to pay, in 2013 we made the decision to share our home with others to get through the recession. We are happy to say that we have had great renters the last several years and now one son is a college graduate in computer programming, our daughter has her degree in nursing and is recently married and another son is half-way finished with college after getting a baseball scholarship but also playing football obtained a back injury so is working for awhile before continuing his business degree. We also have 4 adopted children (3 of which are in high school) and a 5th grader. Although we miss spending the summers on the lake, we are glad to know it is being used for others to create wonderful family memories. Our daughter getting married last year started us down a new adventure. When having no success in finding a wedding venue, my husband took on the challenge of turning our barn into a beautiful wedding venue. After hearing all the compliments from the guests, we decided to make the necessary additions to rent it to others. So if you know of someone looking for such a venue, check it out. Blodgett Wedding Barn Schoolcraft, Mi The lake house only 20 minutes away makes a great place for wedding guests to stay.

Great house with awesome amenities

  • 5 of 5

We had such a good time at this beautiful home. Fully stocked all the way around (kitchens, entertainment items, etc.). Even though the weather could have been warmer for August (not like that is the owner's fault, of course) we had plenty of room inside to keep the kids and the adults busy but not tripping over each other. Loved the paddle boats and kayaks and the water trampoline, and the great firepit. Loved the full length porch that is enclosed so the little ones can't get to the stairs. So peaceful in the mornings before people get on the lake.

Just a heads up though, no wireless, so you need to have a good data plan for your phone if you want to stay connected to social media. Also, bring a lot of bug spray. It is beautifully shaded, but the mosquitos love to visit.

Had a great time. This is the first home we've rented (and we've rented one every year for probably a dozen years), that the family liked so well we want to go back in 2018.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review. That is a great compliment that this is the first place you want to revisit. We are glad to have you back. Good idea to give the heads-up on not having wifi. Even though we mention that on the listing, some people miss noticing it. It was a tough decision whether to provide wifi, but we have had so many families thrilled that without the easy accessibility to social media, they found their families connecting. Instead of evenings spent with faces glued to phones, they were enjoyed together around the ping-pong or pool table, a board game, or a family video, which is what we love to hear. Understanding that some adults need to keep up with work, coming prepared with an adequate data plan for that is a good pointer.

Summer Fun

  • 5 of 5

The owner of the property is accommodating and easy to work with. This is our 2nd stay at this property, and I would return again. Sandy beach, clear water, and plenty of water activities for the children.

Perfect for our large family vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful and perfect home for our annual family get away. There was plenty of space for our group of 20 to spread out and still be together. The house had everything we needed to fix meals, play games and sleep comfortably.

The owners were very helpful with questions and were quick to answer any needs we had.

The front yard had ample space for games of croquet and the back yard was perfect for for cornhole tournaments. The mosquitoes came out at night so be sure to bring your big spray but that was the only drawback for us. The beach was shaded for much of the day allowinf us to enjoy the water without being burnt to a crisp. The shallow entry allowed our young kids to play for hours with little worry.

We had the lake to ourselves during the week and were able to teach many of the grandkids to ski while renting a boat from a local marina.

If we didn't move our vacation to a different location yearly, we would definitely return!

Heavenly Haven stays true to its name!

  • 5 of 5

This roomy home was perfect to accommodate our extended family. The windows provide beautiful views of the lake. Three different floors provide enough room for people to be together, yet feel like they have their space as well. The basement level provides plenty of entertainment from a pool table, to air hockey, to foosball, to plenty of board games, books, and movies. In the back yard, plenty of entertainment also exists--kayaks, paddle boat, fishing gear, life jackets, corn hole game, campfire site, and grill.

The 2 kitchens in the home were both completely stocked utensil/gadget wise with anything you could possibly need as far as cooking and cleaning goes. Plenty of clean towels and bedding also existed in the home. Upon arriving all bedrooms were completely clean and ready to be lived in. Bathrooms were also clean and fully stocked with towels, toilet paper, and soaps. An abundance of beach towels were also in the home ready to be used at the lake. Having an in home washer and dryer that could be used at anytime throughout the week was a definite plus as well.

If you have little ones, there were plenty of toys they would enjoy as well. I also noticed a playpen was in the home, as well as, a high chair and play walker.

These are just a few of the great features of the home. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone wanting to enjoy a peaceful setting full of natural beauty. The owner, Cindy, maintains a clean rental and is generous in what she supplies in the home. She is also very approachable and is more than willing to answer any questions one might have. Again, I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone wanting to experience an enjoyable, worthwhile get-a-way!
